I’ve been here quite a few times as a teenager, I think they were one of the first to have cosmic bowling. Went again recently and I really enjoyed the actual bowling. Not sure what it is about the lanes, maybe real wood? I felt like I was noticeably better playing on State lanes’ lanes. I do agree the house balls aren’t the best, but can understand the difficulty keeping people from stealing. I loved the shoes, felt broken in. I know it isn’t as «up to date» as other alleys in the area, but I still really liked it, it makes up in other ways. The service from our waitress was great, and drink prices super affordable after nine! Overall a great time and I prefer it over Lefevre. Just wanted to add that yes, I do recommend coming here, and that the staff were super friendly! We will definitely be coming back!

This is an okay bowling alley. Currently, it’s one of the cheapest places to go bowling nearby, but the rental shoes and house bowling balls are noticeably in poor condition, so if you can, definitely bring your own equipment. Unfortunately, I have to say there’s an unmistakable grimy feeling all over the place. On the upside, the music here is pretty decent, which seems to be a weird issue for bowling alleys for some reason. There’s cosmic bowling as well, if that’s your thing. I’d really love to see this place renovated.

I love bowling here. Been coming to State Lanes since I was a teenager, and it’s always fun. Used to only come for Cosmic Bowl, now I occasionally go for open bowling. The staff is friendly and the booze is nice. I’ve never actually been there when the food is available to order. I do wish, however, that they would come into some money to renovate to compete with Stardust Lanes, who has a much nicer bar, arcade, and décor. I go to State Lanes because they’re closer and the crowd is often much smaller. I just really cracks me up that on their website they say they’re «Saginaw’s Premier Bowling Center», which if you’ve ever been to Stardust on Bay Road, you’d know that they aren’t even close.

It’s a staple of Saginaw Township. It’s a landmark that has been present for many decades. It’s a testament of a bygone era that still draws a crowd. Yes… it’s a bowling alley. Seriously though, State Lanes is a great place to host an event. It’s not the smokey place it used to be. They’ll cater your event, everyone can bowl, or just relax and chat it up. Their lounge area also has plenty of room for activities, beyond the provided arcade games. And they have beer and a full bar, of course!

Typical bowling alley. For larger parties, this may be the place to go simply because there are more lanes available for bowling. Never tried any of the food but the beer is very affordable. Compared to Stardust, I felt like this facility catered more to the older population with a bar to the left of the front door. Parking may fill up quickly so if you’re dead set on bowling here, come before cosmic bowling hours.
