Poor service, very disappointed because I used to come here a lot and it wasn’t as nice as it was

Friendlys is one of my all time fave places to go eat when I’m in the mood for a simple, comforting meal. I am never disappointed with the food, because it is very consistent. It always tastes just about the same which is what you expect when you like something specific.
I always order the Honey BBQ supermelt which is super fattening but super delicious. When I’m feeling wild, I’ll order the loaded waffles fries which is a $ 2.50 upcharge and totally worth it. They offer lots of great kids menu options, most meals will include their famous ice cream and many of their Unique soft drinks are good. Our server Jeanine is always awesome!
On this particular visit, I was blown away by the lack of professionalism that I saw from another server that was working. She was blatantly rude and making her guests feel bad about asking for split checks. She continuously rolled her eyes, rose her voice, and snapped at them telling them how «ridiculous» and «difficult» they were being. Newsflash; this is the job that you signed up for as a server. As a server myself, I understand the difficulty of splitting checks for a large party, but listening to the way she treated these people was terrible; especially since the tables surrounding could hear the whole thing. The customers were nothing but nice trying to make it easier for the server, and she continued to throw rude remarks right back. I was truly in shock listening to the way she acted. I wish a manager could have seen it. I would hope that management wouldn’t accept this behavior.
Because of this experience, I am lowering my rating DRAMATICALLY.

Not a bad stop at all, your typical Friendly’s. I didn’t bother to check Unilocal first because, well, its a Friendly’s… we knew what to expect. Our experience was nothing like the bad reviews recently posted. Reading them after the fact, I’m pretty surprised. Maybe they’re having some staffing issues in the off-​season? Our hostess and server were both very friendly (I just couldn’t resist). In fact our server was great. The food came out quickly, fries were freshly made and sandwiches were tasty. Dining area and bathrooms were clean. Nothing spectacular, but nothing bad either.

After waiting 15 minutes to be seated my wife and I left. At least 6 booths available. We were the second group to leave. Obviously short staffed.

Stopped into this Friendlies after a weekend at the Cape because our children love the franchise and the little ice cream treats that are included in the the kids meals. I am aware that this is a typical chain type greasy spoon of a restaurant and never have too high of expectations but like I said, the free monster ice creams are adorable.
Upon entering this location the hostess greeted us and took several moments to find a clean table to sit us at… Eventually taking us to a dirty table and disappearing. After some hesitation, we just sat at the nearest clean table. Then I went to the ladies room and passed 6 or 7 tables covered in dirty dishes of breakfast types foods which had ended well over an hour ago. It was like everyone who came there that morning ordered a large breakfast entrée and then said to themselves, «never mind, I’m not hungry.»
Our waitress what «friendly» at first but she looked a little crazy… Like she had had many a wild night in her lifetime. Things went pretty normal with ordering but then we started to wait… And wait. Our kids pounded their vanilla and strawberry milks immediately because, well, duh. Then they asked for a water and she said fine and never came back. Ever. After we finished our food and I was beginning to look around at all the dirty tables and scarcity of the building and felt somewhat panicky, like I needed to get out of there fast. However, no candy shop sundaes had been ordered or consumed yet so there was no way we were getting the small ones out of there. 21 minutes after we finished eating and still no sign of our waitress I began to offer the kids money to leave immediately. They wouldn’t budge. I then offered to take them to another ice cream place. Still nothing. At that point (30 minutes later) I took matters in into my own hands and found another waitress and gave her the ice cream order. About 5 minutes later our original waitress came outta nowhere and said, «anyone having ice cream?» And I very nicely smiled and said, «yes, we already gave our order to someone else.» She looked incredibly ticked off by this, mumbled something mean under her breath and dropped her pad on the ground leaving several people’s checks on the floor.
Still we waited. As a family we hoped that we got a free meal on our birthday because we had all celebrated another year of life since arriving. Seriously, I was staring at my husband who appeared to be aging before me very eyes.
Finally, the waitress came back with ice cream all in to go cups and a paper bag telling us we can «feel free to go.» Then she says she’s «a mom and she gets it.» First of all, as a mother she should most definitely get that three children and ice cream sundaes in a minivan sounds like a complete disaster. Secondly, why the hurry now? We had finished eating approximately 17 years ago and we weren’t going anywhere now. No way. And THIRD, and IMO most importantly how the heck are you supposed to see the monster shape in a to-​go cup?
I’m a mother of three, who under most circumstances just feels honored to not be cooking and cleaning myself but even I was feeling like I needed to clean at Friendlies. And like I needed to help a sister out because she was pretty much the worst waitress I’ve ever seen.
If you do decide to eat at this Friendlies location, don’t.

Ugh. The Bourne Friendly’s.
Was considering stopping here today, yet remembered my last visit, last year and went to Captain Frosty’s on the way home instead.
Are you in the mood to wait and wait and wait? And continue to WAIT.
Well, I don’t mind waiting a few minutes, yet 10 – 15 minutes with employees constantly walking by the Ice Cream window texting and on smartphones is NOT (key word: NOT) accepted by me. If they are on break, go outside or to the break room, not behind the counter. The one guy at the ice cream window was friendly and sorry about the wait, but wasn’t even serving ice cream to the first person in line (By the way, I was the ONLY other person in line), he was getting a huge phone purchase of food for her.
Problems here: A– staff not attentive, B– areas of ordering, pick-​up, and «waiting-​for-​a-​table» are not clearly marked and confusing. C– location is ok, yet rather difficult to get to, if you aren’t a resident. D– there are better places nearby.
Corporate didn’t really care, so I don’t either. I won’t ever go back. Want ice cream? McDonald’s up the street or go by a gallon at Market Basket down the street. Not happy here.

Slow service multiple times. Food is okay, but not worth always having slow service. Unorganized staff. Not worth your time.

Stood in there for 15 min and was told by two diff people be with u in a minute and no one did so we left. No hostess no nothing. Very unorganized. Never go there again. Complete waste of time getting off the highway

This is a generous 2. I used to come 20+ years ago and was nostalgic. What a bummer. Reviews are true. Not the cleanest, slow and inattentive service — but nice. Food was okay. This is a tough segment: more expensive than fastfood but not able to raise the prices enough to make the food too much better. Sorry, but skip this place if you can.

Im not surprised most of the reviews are bad.
Let me preface by saying I have NEVER walked out of a restaurant in my 50+ years on this planet… Ever.
Secondly, Im a local, in a tourist area, I will succumb to some forms of abuse.
ONE YEAR AGO I was handed 2 free ice cream certificates after WAITING for my check for 45 MINUTES.2 hours to grab a pattymelt…“the girl is new” blah blah blah. NO, i heard her flirting with cooks the entire time she was missing.
Yesterday, ONE YEAR LATER, we decide to subject ourselves to the free ice cream, grab a burger. WRONG…
Tables were all filthy, get seated, ITS BEEN 45 MINUTES AND NOBODY COMES NEAR OUR TABLE, EVER… It wasnt busy&lo and behold Miss flirty is working… Got up and Went to Mcds next door.
I may contact corporate. Ive never seen anything like it…
Hello??? Is there a Manager running this place?

All of these bad reviews are correct. The place is always filthy. I got dinner there the other night and every single table had dirty dishes and trash on it. It would’ve taken ten minutes for someone to go around with a bus bucket and clean it. The servers are nice but it’s obvious that the restaurant is basically run by a bunch of teenagers. If you can consider it even running. The weird thing is that there’s always plenty of staff… Stuff is just not getting done.

I thought the Friendly’s in Milford was bad, this one is way worse. Even though they have about 40 tables they start a wait list after about 15 tables are seated, as the kitchen «can not keep up» Even with only 15 tables seated and well over half the restaurant empty It takes 45 minutes to get your order, no matter how basic. This restaurant is so poorly run it would never survive if it wasn’t in such an ideal location. This one gets my vote for worst Friendly’s EVER. Unless you are looking for a 2 hour breakfast or lunch go elsewhere.

Alas, the Friendly’s corporation is not even close to the New England institution it once was. This branch is worse for the wear and tear, a bit battered, and most definitely has seen better days. The server was nice but all else was not worth the visit.

I don’t really get the bad reviews here.
Sure, it is not a 4 stars restaurant, but when you are on the road, it is very convenient and it does offer something for everybody. And it is so much better than going for a McDonalds!
I found the staff very friendly and quite quick.
We took the fish and chips and the quesadilla and found both very pleasant!
The only bad point was the cleanliness of the toilets. Those were not very clean, but when I went back just before hitting the road, someone was on the floor cleaning it, so I don’t want to complain about it! And well, it’s still a road restaurant so you can’t really expect much from the toilets!
Anyway, really nice spot to take a break from the road!

OMG! Stopped in at 8:30 AM on our way to the Cape and the first thing we notice is an awful smell. After a 5 minute wait we finally get seated and my wife goes to the restroom and discovers an even worse smell! Before any staff appeared at our table we got up and left.

Pour un repas vite fait ça passé. L’odeur de friture à l’intérieur est assez difficile à supporter, mais le service est adorable.

OK Friendlys is sleazy and sticky, it just is… but this one is better than usual and the staff are super sweet. And it seems to draw more families with small kids than grumpy old people (no offense to grumpy old people, but they really shouldn’t go to a kid restaurant and expect it to be quiet — grrrrrrrrrrr)
The food is blah and painfully slow but that just goes without saying :)

Yes, I am a fan!
You know why, it is different from McDonald’s or BK. And, it is old-​fashioned local brand.
I don’t know whether their price should be that low. That is the major 1 star drop from 5. I would pay 15 – 20 dollars if they improve the food quality. But, for the location (easy access) and the variations of the ice cream menus, and for the price you pay, how one can compare this to the high street venues?
We normally order breakfast, or fried stuff for a light meal. The portions are not big, so that you will have an ice cream as a dessert. I just wish the food was more upscale for me, personally. But, hey, they sit in their niche market attracting certain target groups.
They are Cape Cod Tourists, other highway Drivers, Seniors (senior special menus, yay), Young family with children, Ice cream lovers. It is just different. Can’t complain.

The service was good (June 30, 2012), not slow. I got the same level of attention from the waiters as the upscale restaurants. And, we talked about how good the employer’s eyes are to pick the friendly staff at any age and sex.

Typically good food but service was WAY slower than typical. Take out ice cream didn’t include spoons. Aaargh!

Horrible service. Dont get carrots and celery. It’s from months ago. Good for kids though lol

Stopped in this Friendly’s on Sunday returning from Cape Cod.
If you are stuck in traffic leaving Cape Cod after a long day at the beach. This is a super place to stop for a break and recharge.
Location, location, location.
— The Friendly’s is right next to the Sagamore bridge, which crosses the Cape Cod Canal. Leaving the Cape you take the first exit once across the bridge.
— This place is clean
— The service was excellent. We had this young guy who was really attentive.
— The food was fine… this is not gourmet dining. In the big picture, versus many fast food places, Friendly’s has a pretty good menu burgers etc
— Three of us had a relaxing dinner and the check was $ 23.00, that is hard to beat.
The kids love this place… always a hit with the kids. Every kid meal comes with a free ice cream .
— The «Sliders» mini cheeseburgers are a kid favortie
The ice cream counter at this place is pretty good, always seem to have a small line.
