Cove Delicatessen

One of the few REAL delis still around! Highly recommended if you appreciate egg sandwiches and NY deli style lunch specials. When I’m here it’s usually for breakfast but I’ve had some pretty good lunches here as well.

The east end of Long Island used to be flooded (in a good way) with traditional NY delis. Over the years many have been replaced or upgraded to «gourmet markets». However, The Cove Deli is still serving up traditional German food with all of the usual items a real deli offers. Egg sandwiches that are fresh off the flat top that won’t break the bank, a nice selection of hot and cold food for lunch, the smell of homemade authentic food wafting through the air, served up by competent clerks.
The prices and portions are not geared to rip you off (although not a drop in the bucket), and it is consistent. No matter who helps you, it’s always done the same, always delicious.
I’ve been going here my whole life. I’m glad some things remain the same.

Food is always great every time. Must try the Breakfast Sandwiches they melt in your mouth. You can taste the quality. Also try the Cove Deli Tea so good on a hot summer day.

Call ahead to place your order at this busy consistent basic deli. You know what your getting so don’t get fancy. Easy and convenient stop on the way to the beach, park or pool.

Breakfast options in Sag are somewhat limited, but the Cove is my go-​to spot for egg and cheese on a roll. In addition to generous Boar’s Head sandwiches, they offer freshly prepared lunch specials — recently I tried their parmesan crusted chicken and meatloaf, both were great. Friendly staff. Unpretentious. Good value.

I don’t know how they do it but they have the best egg sandwiches. The food is always fresh, the prices are very reasonable, my order is always correct, and the staff is very friendly. It’s definitely the best deli in Sag Harbor.

All deli’s are not created equal. Some of them just go through the motions and get you out the door as quickly as possible. Cove is not one of those. I’ve been going for a couple of years now, and probably am there once a month in the winter, and twice a week in the summer. I’m a creature of habit and get the same sandwich every time – and every time the turkey is fresh, the bread is really fresh, and the sandwich is big enough to satisfy my hunger, but not so big to make me feel like a total pig. I’ve had the same sandwich at about 20 other deli’s, and the one at Cove is consistently the best.
