this is a traditional asain grocery store. Yes it smells. That’s the beauty of it. They have all types of vegetables, fish’s, poultry and yes PORK. I order this pig and paid $ 220.00 — well worth it. don’t really know what the weight was — however; it was cooked to perfection and tasted fantastic. THEREIS a language barrier here. I went to my local sushi bar where the owner and I are tight & simply asked if he could get me a pig & this is what we got. This way I take the language barrier out of the equation and just pay. I cant emphasize the taste & golden color — it was everything that I expected. thanks

About ten years ago Vinh Phat was a supermarket I would never want to go in. Why? Because it smelled so gross, I would always walk out gagging. The seafood department was in the open and the smell was just too much for me. But how things have changed, now Vinh Phat is actually one of my favorite supermarket to go compare to Wing Wa, SF supermarket, A&A and People’s Market. How come? Because after the remodeling, it doesn’t smell bad anymore. Plus they have great deals when an item is on sale. I like going to Vinh Phat to get my OXtail when I’m making beef stew because you can pick which pieces you want and it’s super fresh and affordable, they have a lot more choices of meat as well. Besides the OXtail, I always come here for the oysters when I’m having a BBQ party because the oysters is huge and more affordable than other markets! It’s also pretty clean compared to Wing Wa, A&A and People’s market. They also sell sandwiches, fresh noodles, pastries, boba and hot food to go as well. I always like coming here to get their roast duck because it’s super meaty and not overly greasy unlike other places, plus it comes with peanuts. They have registers in the front and in the back of the supermarket so the lines goes pretty fast. Vinh Phat is my one stop place to get all my items that I need to make my dinner. Whenever I’m thinking of cooking anything Asian, Vinh Phat would be the market I stop by. Unless I’m making hot pot then I’ll go to Ranch 99 because they a lot more hot pot items to choose from. Plus the staff at Vinh Phat is super friendly and helpful, so 5 stars!

Prices varies depending in seasons not as cheap as 99 ranch. Advice do not come first of the month or early weekend mornings if you want to avoid the crowds. These Asian ladies are brutal they argue with anyone who tries to take the butchers attention away while they’re making their meat selection. Then again you don’t want to miss the fresh Peking duck or roasted crispy pork.

OK, I’ll be honest. I first came to this market for the duck feet as treats for my dogs. You can get a huge bag of them for $ 3-$ 4, take them home, dehydrate them and your dogs are set with healthy treats. What has me coming back(other than dog treats) are their roasted ducks. They are amazingly tender and juicy with that nice crispy skin. I’ve had the banh mi sandwich from their deli as well that was a great bargain for a yummy sandwich. All in all, they have great products at very reasonable prices.

I remember that supermarket located at the Stockton Blvd strip. This Asian supermarket named, «Vinh Phat Market» has it all delivering some great ethnic food and drinks especially spices and hard to find items too. My parents and I are usually shopped there for the past over 2 decades, and this place never goes out of style. The atmosphere is quite on-going and busy here. The concept is much old schooled with the same old décor after it opened several decades ago. Additionally, they modified interior remodeling too like the extended fish and meats department, the hot food and banh mi side, and the expanded produce side. The employees are doing a fine job here although the service is likely a mixed-bag here despite the busiest environment, and handling the customers. I’m sure they need to improve the customer service and hospitality in the future. Every aisle at this store is very organized and well kept, so I can find some interesting items that I want to buy. No issues here while I shopped. There’s some good parking spots available although it gets cramped during the business hours like finding a parking spot, and planning to get out of their lot. All in all, Vinh Phat Market is a good, average Asian supermarket that I rely the most no matter if I want to buy great ethnic groceries every day. A worthy visit. My rating: 3 solid stars.

If you want food that is already made, they do not have much here. However, they do have a lot of other things.

If you give this store anything over 1 star, it must be because the selection of items they offer. Other than that, I would stay as far from here as possible. The store is dirty, especially the fish section. Floors are wet, and their workers will not watch out for their customers as they threw fishes and crabs into the tank, if water gets on your clothes, sucks for you. Then there is the meat department. There is no such thing called a line here. In addition, if you do not speak Cantonese, good luck for you buying meat here. Workers in the meat section will only go to older Asian ladies and ignore you no matter how long you have waited. Sometimes workers in the back sees you and will continue cutting their meat instead of helping you. Lastly, it is the service of cashier. No greeting, weird starring, and does not accept cards for low purchase transactions. And finally, they will scramble 10 items into 1 bag no matter it is hot or cold.

I remember back I’m the days when it was all about Vinh Phat and Wing Wa since SF supermarket and 99 ranch wasn’t even built yet. Well not long ago Vinh Phat did some remodeling, but it looks about the same. I still come here every now and then to do some shopping. Some of the food here is cheap and it’s easy to find since it’s not a super big market. The place is kind of dirty & there’s flys and bugs and most of the workers don’t speak English, but it’s okay since I know how to speak Cantonese. Overall place is okay and not too crowded –there’s parking in the front and the back! Oh, they sell drinks and banh mi too!

In my quest to visit as many Asian supermarkets as I’m able, I dropped by Vinh Phat to compare and contrast. It’s not as large as my prevailing favorite SF Market but I believe it has most of what you’d need to cook up your own dishes. A large bin of huge, spiked fruit called durian let’s you know you’re not in Safeway anymore(humor), as does the non-English speaking cashiers and Vietnamese blared over the PA system. This isn’t an «international» market like KP so for strictly Asian goods, this place fits the bill well enough. Being a 6’1 white guy, I did draw stares from a number of people yet that didn’t bother me in the least. One of the announcements over the PA just may have been«white guy in aisle 4!» Speaking of aisles, there is English written beneath the Chinese/Vietnamese aisle signage so that helps in navigation. Like any proper market, there are adequate frozen food, hot food, produce, seafood, and canned goods areas. I wasn’t that impressed with the banh mi which I ordered for lunch; Huong Lan remains my go-to for that. They did have roast duck, pork, and more hanging from a window which looked enticing. I should mention that in the proverbial«waiter, there’s a fly in my soup,» I did see flies going around the hot food area, over the items packaged for sale, resting on tables; a bit discouraging and one of the reasons I ordered my banh mi freshly made. Otherwise, the store seemed clean by what I’ll call«Asian market standards.» I did enjoy the comprehensive candy aisle, which certainly had some great offerings by way of cookies and other treats. I liked the dinnerware section. The seafood area had some great options and like many Asian markets, it appears as though you’ve entered an aquarium. So, yeah, it’s «fresh.» I did see some things here which I did not see at the larger, Asian supermarkets so there is a draw to visit Vinh Phat in that sense. It’s a great store yet not enough to sway me from my regular patronage with my favorites SF and KP.

My primary Asian grocery store to go to. I take my mom every weekend. I also enjoy their hot food section. Their grilled pork banh mi is pretty tasty.

We’ve been going here since I was in diapers! Probably one of the best asian supermarkets in Sacramento on stockton blvd. this place is super big with fresh veggies, fish, poultry, and seafood. They have a lot of stuff! Prices are pretty fair, but it also depends on what you want to.

I went there for some quick food. gave cashier a $ 20, she said it was only $ 5. Then she started yelling at me that I was wrong. I asked her nicely to double check, but she kept yelling at me. Why do you yell at your customer??? No customer service at all. This lady give asian people a bad name. Lost me business forever!!!

LOVETHEIRBANHMI! I am not a banh mi eater at all. My parents always get the ones at Wing Wa supermarket down the street from Vinh but I was never a fan of them. Vinh’s supermarket Banh Mi sandwiches were good! They have mini banh mis for about $ 1.75 to go and ready. I tried one of those since I was hungry and skipped out on breakfast. I do not regret it at all. It tasted fresh, the bread wasn’t hard and I think it had a butter garlic spread on the top of the bun which gave it a nice taste. The vegetables weren’t too much and the carrots and daikon fresh and crisp even after being marinated. The bbq pork tasted like your regular bbq pork but they didn’t skip out on the portion even for it being a mini banh mi. The only thing I regret about the banh mi was not getting a full sized one! it was amazing! Definitely going to enjoy banh mis more if they’re like vinh’s. As for the rest of the store it was… Decent. You’re typical Asian super market. Nice meat section though it was packed with people. Not a seafood person so I didn’t venture there. One less star because I only tried the sandwhich and bought a tea there… Plus… There were flies everywhere! On the veggies. On the hot food to go area… Wondered how the meat and seafood section would be with those flies. But… Cashiers are nice. they have front and back cashier’s and they are rather fast.

When it comes to preparing an Asian dish, especially a Vietnamese dish, this is one of my top picks for grocery shopping. Sadly, for the dish I made, this place didn’t have one of the ingredient. I made Bun Rieu for me and my friends so I was able to get all of the meat and produce, but this place lack canned tomato paste! Instead of troubling myself by going to another store, I decided to use what I have at home and went with Ketchup to give the broth the distinct orange color and tomato taste. There were a lot of pastries that I wanted to try near their Banh Mi area, I’ve had the Banh Mi here before and they are pretty good, not very cheap though unless you can find their coupons after spending a certain amount there. If you expect to find help on the aisle floor, that might be a difficult task as the workers there seem to be just focused on stocking and tagging things.

Solid Asian market, but their prices are a little bit higher then San Jose’s. Checking the poultry/seafood area was super cool. it was it’s on little room. Amazing. I love that they sell hot vit lon for you cooked and ready to eat as well has had a bbq station where they shold heo quay and vit quay. Definitely a nice well-rounded store.

This my number one chinese/viet store. The meat counter is worth checking out. You can tell the meat is fresh. The roast pig and duck is what you’d expect it to be. Most of the frozen foods are fresh. The veggies are fresh and i’m pretty sure they get some of it from the small family farms that we have in the city. All of there new products are usually in the middle of the store. They have a new sandwich place and boba drink bar. But its not that great. The sandwiches are just ok and the drinks are also just ok. Alcohol prices are fair but cold be lower. All in all this is one of the nicest asian stores in sac.

An Asian market with all the works AND friendly staff. First off, there are two parking lots(and entrances/exits) located at the front and the back of the market. I can’t remember the last time I went to the market and people actually asked me if I needed help rather than me walking around lost and confused. This place has EVERYTHING you need to make a nice, homemade(mostly Asian…) meal. Definitely pick up a bag of oysters here if you ever want to have a BBQ. They have the FRESHEST oysters that contain very little sand compared to other markets. Feeling famished due to your long shopping trip? Now you can grab some banh mi to keel you over until you head on home. Cashiers are extremely friendly and talkative. They don’t just stare at me like at other places. VP tops all the Asian markets.

If you’re ever on Stockton boulevard, you know there are many supermarkets to choose from. Let’s just say VP is one of the better ones to go to! They are in the process of remodeling, which can only mean bigger and better things!!! I’m excited that they are excited to have a new look. There is an ARRAY of things for you to choose from, so rest assured, you’ll get all your Asian grocery needs here.(and possibly more!) I’m extremely impressed by their meat/seafood department because they are very attentive, and dare I say it??? NICE!!! They actually make you feel like they WANT to help you, versus looking at you with a «well, what do you want?» attitude. I’ve been to other markets before where I just stand there while tons of Asian ladies cut in front of me, and the workers never once acknowledge that I’m there. THANKYOUVINHPHAT!!! VP has an assortment of snacks(my favorite part), and produce is always fresh and at a really great price. They also recently added a small Banh mi(Vietnamese sandwiches) Shop next to the meat department if you feel like a quick bite. There’s parking in front and back, so you’re never having to fight! It’s my favorite place to be, and it should be yours too!!!

Wow! Definitely one of the better Asian supermarkets on the blvd. I come here often when I feel like cooking up some Asian food — I can find all the ingredients here conveniently for cheap. This place is tidy and a lot more sanitary than most other Asian stores. The store gets pretty packed on the weekends; lines do get long but it does move fairly quickly. Before coming here I was told they have fresh fish and meat, indeed they do! Butchers are always readily available to help you. They have a variety of seafood/meat to choose from. They even provide a courtesy clean where they’ll scale down the fish at no extra cost. The early bird gets the worms when it comes to the produce. Come early enough — you’ll get to pick from the freshest batch. They have a huge produce department and they’re always fully stocked when I’m there. It’s dirt cheap and affordable compared to American grocery stores. They also have a full aisle filled with an array of snacks, crackers, chips, etc. — of course, my favorite aisle in the store! Service here is great. Workers are friendly and the cashiers are sociable. I remember roaming up and down an aisle and a worker actually came up to me and asked what I was looking for. Now, I certainly did not expect that kind of service! This place is fairly big with a decent size parking lot in the front and back of the store.
