This company is the worst I’ve ran across yet. Steve Howell first off came out to give me a quote and first thing that came out of this mouth was are you guys serious about doing your windows and roof or am I going to waist my time. I called and complained to the«owner» At least he told me he was his name was PAULCROMWELL. He told me that he would make sure that he would make it right and give me a great quote. He came out with CLIFFHUTCHINGSON. They quoted me 18 windows 2 sliders, a new bath tube and a new roof 3,200 square foot roof. Roof quote 25,000. Windows. 18,000 and bath tube and backsplash 7,500 dollars… PAUL told me he was giving me a 30% discount. He also suggested that he could inflate the price of my master bathroom shower area and do some extra work and not let the finance company know YGREEN. Witch is extremely illegal not to mention not the right thing to do. They were pushy and got my estimate right up to how much I was approved for. Bottom line these guys were going to totally take advantage of me. Since then I have got several quotes from other compinies and all in all for the same work same product will end up saving around 15,000 dollars plus!!! I’ve complained to YGREEN tried to call other people at the company and have got no response. DONOTUSETHISCOMPANY !!!

We had George X. de Cossio come to our house selling windows. He made a great presentation, gave us an estimate which we accepted. In a few days the installers came by and removed our old windows and put in the new ones. They did a great job and we are totally satisfied. George came by awhile later to make sure everything was ok. It was. Highly recommend this company. We are in Sunnyvale and George services the bay area. The windows are great. We built a 5000 sq. ft house that was finished in 2007. We decided to do something different for the siding and instead of stucco went with aluminum siding. Vinyl Designs looked like the right company. The salesman I worked with was very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. Even though the siding was 2x more than the highest bid I’d gotten for stucco, we decided to go with Vinyl Designs. The job they did was HORRIBLE, to this day, even after having them out countless times, there are still 2 exterior doors that haven’t been finished, there are ugly seams everywhere and there are nails that have never been flush. The trim around the windows, the corners-interior and exterior is the worst I’ve ever seen. The vinyl over the entryway is wavy. Their installers cut through the flashing around the doors and windows when they were installing the product which caused major leaks into the house and had to be fixed. Then, we discovered the tyvek had been installed backwards around 2 light fixtures that allowed water intrusion into the family room below. I’ve had at LEAST10 – 12 contractors out here who have 2 – 35 years experience and every single one of them told me it’s the WORST job they’ve ever seen and they feel terrible I had such poor service. Then, we were having the rock replaced on the front of the house and discovered SEVERE wood rot as a result of the funky trim Vinyl Designs uses at the top of the exterior wall… it actually CHANNELS water from the roof BEHIND the siding!!! I’ve had Steve out several times and he is so nasty and foul-mouthed I don’t allow him on the property unless my attorney is present. He is extremely foul-mouthed and condescending to females… unless you are purchasing something from him… complain about something and the devil inside of him makes himself known. Steve refuses to take any responsibility for the installation of his inferior product and tried to put the blame on the lack of a rain gutter in that spot. Somehow he forgets that the siding is the last defense against weather for a house… not a rain gutter. We were forced to hire an attorney to fight this, but LOWANDBEHOLD… Vinyl Designs doesn’t have to pay for ANY attorney fees. His salesman was real proud of the fact the siding comes with a 25 year guarantee… guarantee for WHAT? The siding is drying out and splitting, it’s breaking off at the bottom. DONOTPURCHASETHISPRODUCT. DONOTHAVEANYTHINGTODOWITHSTEVEANDVINDYLDESIGNS. This man is nasty and horrible and his product, installation and customer service SUCK! I’ve been fighting with this individual since before we moved in!!!

I wish I had something more substantial to say about my experience other than to say it never really started. After my neighbor referred me to them I called them 3 times over the last 2 – 3 months, but even after 3 visits(including measurements) I still do not have a quote for windows. I guess they’re so busy that they don’t need my 20+ window project.

My experience with Vinyl Designs has been totally positive, as their window installations have helped to make my house energy-efficient and open, at a price that beat everybody. Just to give some details, we bought our first house at the end of 2010, and promptly got a SMUD-subsidized home energy audit, which led to participation in their home energy remodel.(I am a big believer in efficiency and saving money!) The contractor replaced all of our windows(except the slider in the living room, more on that later) with energy-efficient Ply-gem vinyl windows installed by Vinyl designs. There’s a reason a professional contractor would make that choice: after shopping around, he saw that it was the best combination of price and quality. Fast-forward to a year later, when I wanted to replace that slider, but also to extend the opening for a more dramatic opening to my patio. After doing a lot of research into various door and window products, and getting several bids to remove 4 feet of wall for a full 10-to-11-foot opening, I was looking at about $ 5000 – 10,000 for putting in dual-pane French doors and sidelites. But I decided to call the people who had put in the rest of my windows(I don’t exactly know why I didn’t do this earlier) and ended up having a half-hour conversation with Steve Kuelke, the owner, about the benefits and drawbacks of French doors and sliders. He made a very convincing case for putting in a slider instead of French doors, and we chose the dual-pane low-e argon-filled 10-foot Ply-gem double-slider, which has 4 equal-size panels, the middle two being opposing doors that slide over the sidelites. They installed it in one weekend, and we are so pleased with how open and light our living room has become with these doors. And the best part of all? The total cost for the door and installation was around $ 3000. I am really cost-conscious about my home projects, and like to do as much of the labor myself as possible. So I really felt like I’d found someone I could relate to when I talked to Steve. He didn’t try to push me toward more expensive doors, and I really felt like he had my best interest at heart. I think that’s just kind of in his DNA, and it looks like part of their business model, which may actually hurt them a bit in terms of dealing with small-time customers like me(their showroom isn’t very nice or have many products on display). But if you are not into the frills that can drive up the cost of things, I would recommend this company to anyone.
