Poor ownership prefers to throw customers with disabilities out for fears that his dog will harm us hum public store disabled people cannot shop.

It is an AWESOME store ! so many things to look at… antique books, guns, jewelry, ceramics. Even the background music was very nice. The owner with his BIG dog were very quiet. Although I didn’t buy anything, he was helpful to look for the name of the musician.

I wanted to update my review for others to know what great service I got from the jeweler located in the back of the store. I came in the past weekend, with a piece of jewelry I had received as a bequest. This piece of jewelry has been in my family for many years, but not much was known about it. I took it in to the jeweler-Frank-in the back and left it with him while I went to have lunch at the Crab Shack. When I came back, he had done some research and had – literally – a wealth of information for me on it! I was astounded. I had taken it to other jewelers in the area and no one could tell me much. He took the time to show me the hallmarks on the back and tell me what they meant. He then matched it up to some information he had and I found out that something I thought wasn’t worth much(thanks other jewelers – no wonder one offered to buy it cheap) was actually worth a whole lot more! He recommended I get extra insurance on it, which I did first thing on Monday. I wholeheartedly recommend that if you have any pieces you need looked at, for appraisal or looking to buy, you need to stop in here. He is honest, ethical and knows his stuff. The items he has for sale are varied and well priced for the area – no touristy junk here! The store he is in has a lot of really interesting items and it makes it fun to shop there. I plan to come back with a few more pieces in the next few months and through the summer. I am a very happy customer!

Last weekend was my first visit to The Penny Farthing and it was a delightful experience. The shop is full of a wide range of beautiful and interesting items. The owner was very hospitable, knowledgeable, and helpful. His wealth of historical knowledge was fascinating and made items come to life as I began to understand the history behind them. Any time I’m shopping for antiques in Sacramento, this will be my first stop!

The Penny Farthing isn’t a store; it’s magical. I’ve found treasures I didn’t even know I had to have until they jumped out of the intricately shelved marvels. What you need; what needs you? An antique pool cue made of ebony and ivory that shoots true, even I’d you don’t play? Small silver pill box treasure chests? Antique opera glasses, a Sultan’s turban, a book you’d forgotten you needed to read? Samovars and swords, jewels and wooden steamers: relics of different dreams, dreamt by ones before you. Yours, if only for a moment and then gone, gone and done. It won’t be at the Penny Farthing tomorrow, unless you’re the person it’s waiting for. Magic, there is magic there.

I wandered into the Penny Farthing and was quite impressed by the collections. My favorite was the antique jewelry section. Not only was the collection very pretty, with several price range options, the manager of that section was a great guy. I felt like he really knew his jewelry and had for many years. He was really nice and we talked for awhile. Although I really wanted to try everything on and buy a few items, I really had to run. I will plan on coming back next time I am in town to find a new chain for a pendant that my grandmother left me. Seems like the perfect place to find one.

The Penny Farthing is an outstanding antiques store — kind of like a small museum, spacious and airy-feeling, with many high quality items on display, and for sale at reasonable prices: Japanese Samurai swords, books, automobile-related items, jewelry, Americana, and much, much more. The owner Malcolm, and his staff person(Rudy, who is also Old Sacramento’s ceremonial Marshal), are very welcoming, helpful and informative. It’s a treat to wander around the store, enjoying the beautiful items(I could have spent hours browsing, and adding items to my wish list). Check the Penny out the next time you visit Old Sacramento (Displays change, so I’ll return for sure). Five stars.

The Penny Farthing is a nice and adequately stocked antique store located in Old Sacramento. There’s a little something for everyone in here and the shopkeeper is quite knowledgeable and friendly. Yes, there was a Penny Farthing on display and no, I was not able to acquire it… at any cost; he would not budge. We picked up an antique wine rack and some old Persian rugs at quite a steal. This is a cool shop in which one could easily spend an hour+ rummaging around all of the antiques and collectables. Will return for sure.
