Conveniently located about a mile from my job, this truck hits the spot every time. Fast, friendly service and they are not stingy with the meat. Tacos also come with roasted peppers, onions, cilantro, salsa and pickled jalapeños upon request.

Right around the corner from my work and usually I don’t rave about mobile food trucks, but this place is frickin’ great. My coworker turned me on to this spot and it has become our go to place for a good quick Mexican meal when the mood strikes. I haven’t tried everything on the menu but what I have has been well prepared and very flavorful. Most of the time I get the burrito and it comes with a roasted jalapeño, radishes, and a lime wedge on the side(individually wrapped in foil). $ 5 and it equals a full stomach… I’m talking one of those full stomachs that makes you want to take a nap afterwards. Now that they have earned my trust with good, quality food… I’m thinking of getting more adventurous and trying more on their menu… wish me luck ;) Sum it all up, don’t think you can go wrong here for the price… just don’t plan on dinner because they close before 5.

«One dollar tacos?» «Hell yeah, what’s the catch?» It’s a cloudy Sunday afternoon, I’ve just ransacked the book faire and now books fill my car to the brim. I squint onto the double solid lines that cut through moistened asphalt, catching a glimpse between the towers of books that encapsulate me. Friend’s stomach growls, I get an idea to try the taco truck I passed by the other day. Let’s take the scenic route. I’ve been hunting down De Oro for months, because they haven’t been at their location on Jackson and Folsom. On my way to one taco truck, I accidentally spotted De Oro on Florin-Perkins and Thys. Timbuktu. The catch of the $ 1 tacos? The greasiest carnitas tacos I’ve ever had in my life, no thanks to the raunchiest cuts of puerco, I’m sure. I’m talking about grease just jizzing out of my taco onto the Styrofoam plate, where it collects into a pool where flakes of chile bead and float. The salsa saving none of its lacking grace. Although, the tortillas were soft and fresh, the steaming temperature combating with my asbestos fingers, they just weren’t winners. Some grease shot onto my camera and it threw a temper tantrum, erasing the photo I took of the actual tacos. Damnit.

Two words– Carnitas Tacos. Taco de Oro has the BEST carnitas tacos I’ve ever had. there is a perfect combination of fat and meat, and salsa, add to the fact that the tortillas are cooked just right, and that tacos are STILL A DOLLAR. I work all the way out by Bradshaw and Folsom and at least once a month, I gas it to Taco de Oro during my ½hr lunch break because it’s THATGOOD. The prices and tacos make this a 5 star taco truck. The burritos are also very very good, and about $ 4 for an extra big ass burrito. Drive up and down Florin-Perkins at lunch time, look at ALL the taco trucks parked, then notice which has the most mexicans stopping at it. You will notice that Taco de Oro wins…

This taco truck is parked on the corner of florin perkins and thy’s ct. They open from 8AM to 5PM. Tacos are alright, I got the al pastor, lengua, and the cabeza. Lengua was too soft and had no texture, al pastor was too sweet, cabeza was good –not too dry. Not enough salsa on the tacos. Sides include radishes, lime, and grilled jalepenos. I ordered 6 tacos and they only gave me half of a baby lime for them. Tacos are only a dollar each and they offer more meat choices than other taco trucks.

I finally found where this truck parks now! I’m stoked to have these tacos back in my life. You can find it on the corner of Florin Perkins and Thys Ct. The menus is the same deliciousness but they have added breakfast burritos and chorizo tacos.

excellent taco truck — certainly one of the better trucks in town. menu is limited, but that’s good — you don’t want your tiny mobile kitchen doing everything, just a few things very well … excellent tortillas, great pico de gallo, relatively lean carnitas. they had lengua recently that was perfectly tender and delicious. chicken was slightly bland but that’s always the case with these trucks — not sure why. i’d stick to the al pastor and carnitas etc — pork and beef dishes are best here. fast service, cheap prices, friendly staff. a great place to stop with kids.
