Super friendly, affordable and delicious. They can customize almost any roll which I love because they have too many deep fried rolls in my opinion.

I used to come here a lot when it first opened up. The last time I was here was sometime last year. The sushi was good and all rolls were half off even though they had upped the price! But the one thing that I liked was that the owner had came over and introduced himself my second time there. He wanted our feedback on the food. Not a lot of people do that. Disappointed to hear that he sold the place

Drove out to Sacramento to do a wedding for a client– Im staying at a hotel thinking about places to eat at so I decided to drive around and saw a sign that said sushi. The sign caught me off guard because sushi restaurants are usually not open in the day time. So I go inside and it’s literally empty maybe one of table with people and I decided to sit at the bar. Sushi chef Carlos ask what I liked and so on so I tell him and this whole time we’re talking about random things about Sacramento, to where we’re both from to weddings etc. So he’s taking his time making it and I meet another guy with the curly hair who just came back from Hawaii. We’re both talking about hula and so on– etc. Probably the best conversations I ever had over a 1 order of sushi. The blonde girl was super nice and attentive– My order name was called«Carlos Special» made me laugh because what else would you call it if you made something up. Standard $ 14.00 bucks for a big plate of sushi– Would definitely come back to this place based just on my conversations with Carlos– who made my 2 hour drive to Sacramento a lot better. Btw he’s not Filipino. Lol. He’s half Korean and we’re both the same age.

I tried this place based on the three stars from Unilocal. My Miso soup was cold & tasted like the packaged soup had not dissolved. The spicy tuna roll had very little flavor & did not taste fresh. The bento plate looked great, but the chicken was very bland even with the teriyaki sauce & the beef rib tasted old. The best part of the meal was the green tea & rice. The service was good & friendly; They need a new chef. Not recommended.

Our time here was great ! The food was so good and our service even better ! Our server was so wonderful. We had the csus and Fire star? I forgot, but both so good ! Our friends had a great time. They have a pool table which is so cool ! They also have a full bar ! But in all honestly, service was so amazing. Tao(I think that’s how you spell her name) was so great ! Everytime we told her we needed something she got it right away with no hesitation ! Smiles all day ! We love it ! It was so important to us to have a good time and she did it ! We will be returning in the future guaranteed !!!

My friends and I stumbled across this place because Sushi Hook was too crowded. There is never a wait when we come here with our large group. The sushi is okay. We did not satisfy our sushi craving after eating here and ended up at Sushi Raku the next day. I felt a little uneasy seeing the heat lamp at the sushi bar and wondered how long the food under the lamp had been sitting there. They have comparable prices to sushi hook for their happy hour drinks like for Sake bombs.

It’s not the same as it used to be. Wasn’t aware it was under new management. Went with family and everyone came out of order. Childrens food came out dead last after everyone had almost finished their food. Rolls were sloppy and very loose. Ordered the CSUS roll and realized there wasn’t any avocado like stated in menu. Apparently there was but so small that even the waitress didn’t even see it. She had to have the chief point it out to her. She then said that each chief does it different. I thought restaurants were all about consistency? I told them I didn’t want the roll anymore as it had also tasted funny. Tried to make me pay after having two out of the 8 slices it had come with. I used to come here all the time and loved it. Looks like I’ll have to find a new sushi place.

The atmosphere here is just… quiet.(crickets chirping) Food is decent and fairly priced. I like coming here because their drink specials are quite good and the quality of the food is good. But let’s be honest, I usually end up here because it’s so close to home Depot and I’d rather come here and eat than go home and do whatever project I have planned. The place is huge, so good for groups for sure. Enjoy!

It was a random visit one night. Didn’t even know about this restaurant — just happened to see it and decided to give them a try. What can I say, we were hungry, in the mood for sushi and considering the time, there weren’t very many options. We walked in and the first thing you see is a bar. The bartender and the two groups of people drinking greeted us. The place reeked of alcohol! I couldn’t tell if it was really a restaurant or a restaurant that would rather be a nightclub/bar. There was 1 table with people eating and then us. The atmosphere was very lax and the waitress told us to sit anywhere. There were employees shooting pool on one side of the restaurant and others that kept popping in and out of a doorway near the restrooms. Whatever, right? Sure. It’s late… I won’t judge. It was a Sunday night — there weren’t any specials. Their only special is on Monday night: all you can eat sushi for $ 19.95. Got over it, we ordered. Iced tea, hamachi sashimi, cherry blossom, and a lion king roll. Our drinks arrived and it was not a good first impression. The iced tea tasted bad — like they used tap water. I wanted to barf. We told the waitress and she replaced our drinks with hot green tea. The sushi rolls were OK. The highlight of the night was the sashimi. Nicely cut, fresh… just deliciousness. It’s a large restaurant; the word«bar» is in the restaurant name… this somehow must be a cool place to chill. I’d have to say it’s not your typical sushi restaurant. Their food is a solid 3-stars. The downside, I just felt like I was in a lost episode of Bar Rescue with Jon Taffer. Lesson here, do your homework. Not all sushi restaurants are cut from the same cloth.

Server seemed new… had to literally ask for everything from an additional setting to spoons and bowls for soup… then she came to the table to ask if we wanted anything else and our sushi hadn’t even arrived yet! All this was not a huge deal… they were all friendly but it’s not relaxing having to ask for everything one at a time and then wait for them to return with your items. More importantly the sushi just did not taste fresh The pepper fin was mealy and The spicy scallop roll was prepared very differently than expected. I’ve never seen mutilated scallops and the tuna inside was also mealy. Sorry… but for the price, I’m sticking with Taro.

First time here and Customer service was great! However, the quality of the food was very poor. The chicken teriyaki sauce looked like it had been sitting there since yesterday. I could pick up a chunk with my chop sticks. the sushi, rice, and salad wasn’t all that great either. Sushi rice look and tasted soggy. Chicken could have been grilled a few minutes longer. I will not be coming back to this restaurant.

Vegan review! Went here with the family, early Saturday evening(4pm) and the whole location looked fabulous! The music was awesome and it was nice, quiet and not busy. We were excited to order and I was so stoked about their veggie ramen. Our server gave us time to decide what we wanted. Unfortunately, we had to wave her down when we were ready to order since 10 minutes went by. Then the wait began. We had ordered two bento boxes, 2 rolls and my veggie ramen. We waited and then finally my mom went to ask about our order. It arrived around 5:10pm(yes, I checked… I was starving) and of course there was complete silence as we dug in. That didn’t last long. My veggie ramen was lacking in veggies. There was minced squash, carrot and something else in a veggie broth. The noodles were good, but it lacked all the vegetables! The bento and rolls were alright according to my family. They had chicken teriyaki and were not impressed with the overall taste. The family consensus was that nothing felt fresh. Highly agreed. The sushi chef checked on us as he walked by and gave a drive by apology for the long wait because they had a larger party in back. Meh. Definitely not coming back. It wasn’t bad, it wasn’t great. It was just meh.

Came in at 9:25pm during the week. It states it closes at 10pm. There wasn’t a soul in the building. I should have just turned around at that point and taken it as a clue. My mistake. We were seated by a server named Paulina. From beginning to the end, she was extremely rushed in both her speech and demeanor, so it was obvious the only reason she was acting like this was because she wanted to go home. Unacceptable. If a place states it closes at 10pm, don’t treat customers as if they are a burden to you and make them feel rushed just because you want to go home or want to close up shop. The menu was definitely not designed by a professional. There are just WAY too many rolls to where it’s overwhelming. Upon a close look too, they aren’t really unique. Almost every single roll has some sort of special sauce or mayonaise or is deep fried. Signs of a place that has low quality fish and rice so deep fries it and covers it up with sauce to hide the taste. I wasn’t going to order any of that so I ordered just Nigiri. Nigiri came out all bunched up, clearly the owner, manager, and chefs don’t know anything about professional plating or presentation which is pretty standard in a sushi place. The Nigiri was not cut professionally and had serrations and the cuts weren’t even. The rice was soggy and falling apart. The Unagi was completely dried out. It’s supposed to be rich, moist, oily, and have a bit of the sauce on it. Nope. Was dry and brittle and didn’t taste good. Atmosphere was terrible. Late at night with only one set of customers yet there was club music pumping. On a Friday/Saturday that makes sense, but this place clearly doesn’t understand that you have to alter your atmosphere depending on the mood you should adapt to. The entire time Paulina just made us feel rushed. It was clear she didn’t really care about our dining experience and just wanted to go home. She presented us the bill before we were even done or asked for it and hinted she wanted to close us out, but, to continue to eat and relax. Unprofessional. I don’t blame her. I blame management and ownership as they clearly don’t care about customer service, dining principles, atmosphere, presentation. or quality. Won’t be returning.

Great sushi! We’ve been here a handful of times after moving to the Arden area in May last year. The atmosphere inside is club-like. Every time we’ve been here there have only been a few other people dining, which is surprising because the prices and service is good. The restaurant is pretty huge with a big bar area. They look like they have a pretty decent sized selection of alcohol, though I’ve never tried anything but the beer.

Update 5÷1÷16 — they are no longer 50% off. — — — — - I found this place randomly while we were shopping at Arden Mall and I got hungry. I Unilocaled sushi places. Taro’s and this place came up as near by. I’ve been to Taro’s so I wanted to try somewhere new with good reviews. I’ve been here a handful of times since then and every time my sushi tastes great! It’s even better that it’s 50% off! The rolls are huge compared to other places that offers the same deal. I love the deep fried rolls … Especially the King Kong. It makes me want to thump my chest and do a Tarzan scream — lol ok maybe not but its good! The space is really big with a full bar and plenty of seating. They also play cool music. I haven’t tried any of their drinks but they seem to have a big selection(alcohol wise). Today I’ve tried their ramen which seems like it is new to the menu. I had the tan tan … It tastes sort of doughy and my husband’s udon is a bit lacking in flavor so I wouldn’t recommend it these two items. However, I DO recommend the sushi and have came here with friends. They all agree the sushi is good!

Came here is a back up plan dinner and it was just OK. A group of 4 girls shared a sushi boat, and it did NOT come in a boat! There goes a star for you. If you print«boat» in the menu, you should bring it to us in a boat, not on some plain white plates. We were here for a birthday celebration and had a surprise cake for the birthday girl, so we dropped off the cake at the bar so she wouldn’t see it. After we finish the sushi, the server asks the group«Did you want the cake now?» I figured a server would know to just bring the cake out for us when the food was gone from our plates, so that kind of killed the surprise. Lastly, the bathroom wasn’t very clean and there was only one working stall. The handicap stall didn’t lock properly, so you either waited or took your chances. Overall, the sushi wasn’t bad but I’m not coming back here.

Came by on a Sunday night. Staff was friendly. Seahawks were playing on the bigscreens! Yay Football! For appetizer, we got a tuna — crab roll up. I didnt expect it to be raw tuna, but it was well marinated, with great flavor. Wish they would have put on the menu that its raw, though. I’m not a big fan of the texture of raw tuna. BF ordered the spicy rhonda. This was actually really good(especially considering I’m not a big fan of raw fish!) Fresh jalapeño on top had a really nice kick to it! Appetizer was a naga-something noodle soup.(My apologies – I forgot the exact name. But it is the one with a combination of chicken and seafood). It was delicious!!! By far the best soup I have had!!! Ordered the pot of tea, as well. However, it was served in a somewhat traditional teapot? Which made it hard to pour… whoops! Napkins please?! Nothing so great about the tea though. $ 3 — eh. When we were ready to go, we asked for a to go box for the soup(it comes in a really big bowl!) – we expected help in pouring it into the to go boxes… I guess not. o_O more napkins, please? By the way… we never got more napkins.(Sigh)

A new favorite Sushi place! My friends and I came here for All You Can Eat Mondays. For $ 20, you get to choose from a selection of what looked like 60 rolls and 8 – 10 appetizers. There is something for everybody! Or well, everybody that likes sushi. On the appetizer list there are things such as edamame, vegetable tempura, gyoza, and miso soup. The whole party/table has to do AYCE, just FYI. Our table went through 2 orders each of gyoza and vegetable tempura. These were great. Hot and fresh, the vegetable tempura had a great crunch and variety. Carrots, sweet potato, green bell pepper, onion, zucchini, and broccoli. There was also asparagus, but the one person in the party who tried it said it was a little hard. The gyoza wrapper was crispy and the filling was a good, but typical, filling. Both came with a great dipping sauce that typically comes with this kind of fare. I ordered three rolls: the Baked Salmon, Bre’s Special, and the Spicy Rhonda. All three were delicious and fresh. I couldn’t even finish the Spicy Rhonda(a shame!) and my friend took it as leftovers. I’m not sure if that’s normal for here, being able to take leftovers and also not having to finish what you ordered. There’s some AYCE sushi I’ve been to where you have to pay for a roll if you don’t finish it. If what we experience here is the norm for them, I say right on! Service was decent and the waitress checked on us what felt like enough. Also a very large and open restaurant. Would be great for a big group.

Management changed so far sushi is the same! We’ve been coming for sushi to this location since it opened just a year or so ago. What captivated our group was the manager at that time; he remembered every one of our faces and loudly greeted us sending free Miso or drinks to our table. He was always behind the bar but would join our party for a bit being a charming host. So naturally I was a little sad to find out that he sold this restaurant. BUT we found him at Ninja Sushi in Folsom(the other restaurant he still owns) so most likely we will be visiting that sushi house more. So far the menu remains the same which is nice but through small talk it seems like the new management is seriously considering shrinking the menu. Prices do seem to have been raised by a few dollars here and there that is why I deducted a star. The staff is still extremely attentive and sweet. My waitress even tried too hard and would make sure my ice tea was filled all the way at all times. I still love the spacious room of this restaurant and the sushi rocks so we’ll be swinging in from time to time if nothing changes more. I love that this is a casual restaurant but you can still wear a dress and heels without looking out of place.
