My friends and I randomly stopped here after a night of clubbing. We didn’t know what to expect from a diner in the middle of no where with big rigs parked all around it, but let me say, we are SOGLAD we stopped! We all got breakfast at 2am and it was all delicious! I got 2 pancakes, 4 pieces of bacon, 3 scrambled eggs, and tons of hash browns for about $ 10. The service was great and quick, and our server was super friendly! It was also fun than they had a catalog on the table that sold tv’s and neckpillows, lol. I would definitely recommend trying this place out! :)

Great food at great prices. Lisa is awesome waitress. First visit we were thinking about biscuits and gravy but not sure. So we ordered our food and when Lisa brought the food out she also brought along one biscuit and gravy, she heard us talking about the biscuit and gravy. We tried it and loved it. Not only great marketing that she did but the biscuits and gravy are awesome. We came back just because of waitress Lisa and the great food at good prices. Check it out.

My #1 favorite truck stop out here in Sacramento, Cali. Every time I walk in here, I feel like I’m living in the very old days when television were black and white. I love how it gives you the old diner look. All the servers I had here were the best. I never has any complaints or unsatisfaction here. When I’m craving for breakfast around 1−3am I go straight to the truck stop. Their pancakes are the best.

I found a piece of plastic in my hash-browns… I was about half-way done with them too. The food was great and the waitress comped my meal because I found the plastic in my food(looked like a small part of those plastic net bags that might hold potatoes or onions). I am definitely going to be extra cautious IF I visit this restaurant again! *Remember to chew your food!!!

Been here a few times, mostly grab and goes. After an exhausting day we sat down to eat, our waitress Christin was friendly helpful and quick with the refills. We both had the special mine was the ½ stuffed nacho burger and my dinning pattern had the breakfast burger. Both burgers we almost perfect, cooked medium well still very juicy, had a great amount of topping. Mine was spicy, but not blow the doors off. The only thing at all I’d change is the possibility of fresh cut fries? Excellent overall will return when we can

Just finished on of the biggest, tastiest Club sandwiches I’ve ever had! My lunch was amazing and my server was exceptional! I had my ranch dressing and drink at my table before my food arrived and my sandwich was in front of me within 5 minutes, fresh and toasty. Thank you to my server Lisa! Everything was perfect!

The Silver Skillet. What can one say about a 24 hour diner that has a menu with extensive variety? I frequent this establishment with my daughters, we have been enjoying their food for about 8 years, ever since we moved to Sacramento. I love that they always make me poutine(fries with cheese and brown gravy) and don’t even look at me sideways when I order it! It is not exactly traditional but it definitely hits the spot! I usually get the Country Fried Steak and I alternate between the breakfast version and the dinner version, both are delicious! My youngest always(why stray from what you love?) orders the Breakfast Burrito! It always fills her up which is saying something! She is a big eater! My oldest varies with her menu choices but always leaves happy, full and with a to-go container! Now for a secret(or not so secret) I have on several occassions ordered their BBQ. Omg the tri-tip… No wait the ribs, no wait the bbq sauce!!! I would seriously buy bottles of the bbq sauce… I think I would put it on chocolate cake, it is that good!!! I digress… The BBQ is divine!!! Smokey, saucy, juicy and tender(no I am not describing myself ;) just the way it should be! I could literally lick the plate clean, I don’t order this very often because we usually hit the truckstop when I am low on funds but don’t feel like cooking, the BBQ dinner runs about 16.95−24.95. Not a bad price but not ideal when you are on a budget! The service is always great, I have only once had a bad waitress, but I think she was new, sooooo I will give her a pass. All in all you shouldn’t judge this place based on the fact that it is a truck stop diner! They have way better food than Denny’s or Ihops!!!

Lunch today. A huge fried chicken salad ordered just the way I like it. I love the Skillet! I see complaints about the food being cold or the service poor. Please let me know the name of restaurant in this town that is perfection every time you go there! Did any of you complainers bother to mention your unhappiness while you were there or did you just wait to bad mouth the restaurant on Unilocal?!You probably could have gotten a discount or a make-up meal the next time you were there. This place is not just a restaurant. Its a small piece of North Sac history. Family from three generations back have sat in those booths. This is a place where locals and travelers alike have laughed and cried, met spouses and shared memories. The guys and gals here are hard workers, they are tough cookies and all around great people. The Skillet has yummy food and the people that work there have heart! Black Bear doesn’t have a thing on this place.

Great place to go if you like a lot of options very late at night and hungry as hell. We went for new years and their menu is huge. The waitress was really nice even though she was working there during new years eve. I ordered the 49ner omelette with potatoes and pancakes and the fish and chips with toast. Everything came out fast and no complaints from us. Even better, with a check in from Unilocal you get 15% off. We will be back.

The service was craptacular, food was served cold due to the waitresses talking to each other than pushing orders. Now the food tasted good but come on you go to a restaurant for warm food you don’t want it microwaved over again. Do yourself a favor and go to the black bear restaurant across the street you will be happy you did.

This is my first time at a restaurant for truck drivers. It’s what you’d expect from an old style diner: Decent food, decent prices, nothing impressive. My lasagna/spaghetti combo was ok. Not oily as expected. Spaghetti was rather plain with just a bit of canned tasting marinara sauce. The lasagna was better and it was mainly what I ate, it had a good amount of ground beef and not too much cheese. My colleagues had a BLT sandwich and half a rack of ribs. They too seemed to enjoy their food. Portions are definitely big and a good bang for your buck!

So every Friday morning after thanksgiving I come in here for my breakfast after I do my holiday shopping. My waitress, Korena, was awesome and showed me the new menu with all the new additions, I’m actually going through morning sickness so she definitely catered to my needs. She made sure there was always bread at the table and showed me this cool cranberry and orange juice. Definitely my favorite place!

Excellent trucker food for the prices! I recently tried the place across the street from here and was sorely disappointed, it made me appreciate how much better the food is here. First off the service here is excellent! these gals have been working here for years, and are pros at servicing your table. A lot of times I come here late at night and Kris is always awesome! They make their gravies from scratch most of their sauces and they actually have a barbecue pit that they actually smoke their own meats in for some of their items like their ribs, tri-tip, etc. and it’s really really good! You get a huge rack of ribs for the money! Burgers are great, open-faced turkey and roast beef sandwiches are awesome and the gravy is equally as good, chicken fried steak is good, so are the omelets and dinner specials(except for the spaghetti– bland). Give it a try and more importantly they are open around the clock. Imagine that: a real cooked meal at 2 am on a Wednesday!

I am writing this review about a waitress named Christy/Chris. I’m calling you out Christy/Chis because you are racist. Me and 3 other black women came to this restaurant on a Sunday morning. We seated ourselves, as there was a sign telling patrons to do so… So we sat and sat and sat.(No it wasn’t crowded). Finally my friend got up to ask the cashier if we could at least get menus, she(the cashier) obliged and brought the menus to our table. Now it is important to add here that while sitting there I observed a waitress who was assisting customers in and around the area where we were seated, she never looked in our direction and actually went and started wiping down tables, changing the creamer bowls, refilling the sugar container and eventually ended up in the middle area where the stools are. We were ready to order but still had not seen a waitress, so I returned to the cashier and asked for the name of the waitress that was assigned to the area where I was seated, she said Christy/Chris, she then said She(the cashier) would take our order, she returned to our table but by then a waitress had walked up to take our order, the cashier left. I can’t remember the waitress’ name but she assisted us for the remainder of the time. Here’s where it gets real interesting-We left out of the diner but a few minutes later I returned to ask for a cup with ice-lo and behold-while waiting on my cup and ice, who do I see assisting the couple that was seated in the booth right next to where we were seated? Christy/Chris! if that weren’t enough she continued to go up and down the aisle asking customers if everything was okay with their meals, and if they needed more water. This was literally minutes after we exited the Silver Skillet. For kicks, I asked the cashier«now what was the name of the waitress you said was assigned to the area where I was seated?» she said Christy/Chris. I must say, I am perplexed by the reviews that describe Christy/Chris as an awesome waitress because that’s not what I saw. Like I said, she’s a racist. The way she ignored us was blatant! You should be ashamed of yourself Christy/Chris and you know what I am saying is the truth. As I’ve thought about this even more, I really think the waitress who ended up assisting my table knew/knows Christy/Chris refused to assist the«black» table because she herself said the waitress for our table was Christy/Chris. I honestly think the rest of the staff at this diner knows she refuses to assist Black people that come there. I wouldn’t be surprised if its some kind of unspoken coded knowledge, I really hope that is not the case. Sadly, it’s not the meal I remember from this diner, instead it’s the racist treatment of black people by waitress Christy/Chris that remains ebbed In my memory. You will be exposed for the racist you are Christy/Chris! All darkness comes to the light… FYI: Silver Skillet, if you continue to allow racist Christy/Chris to represent your diner, you will most assuredly end up with a discrimination lawsuit filed against you!!! This is no threat, this is the unadulterated truth!

Been here many times, always had good service and good food. On my visit tonight I ordered a 49er omelette and it was ridiculously salty. It was seriously the saltiest food I’ve ever been served in my life. The country potatoes that came with it were just as salty. It seriously tasted like a whole shaker worth of salt just on my plate. My bacon was also salted. WTF?! Seriously? I think bacon is salty enough as it is. Someone else ordered eggs over easy and they were also salted, not to the extent but not necessary. This used to be my go to late night spot but I don’t think I’ll be back. Chris is an awesome waitress and she was really nice about it. I hope the cook gets his shit together because I am sick from eating a few bites of my food. Extra star for Chris. The food is zero stars, blech. Maybe truckers who smoke 4 packs of cigarettes and drink 100 cups of coffee a day and have no taste buds left like their food like that but the rest of us don’t.

We in Natomas claim the silver skillet proudly. It’s one of our hidden gems and we refer people to this place with sentiments like, «trust me, it’s awesome!» Atmosphere: For real though, it’s at a truck stop. Nothing fancy here, but there’s always awesome people watching and it’s kept up. Ambience: A dive diner, but I’ve never had floaties in the water or dirty silverware. It’s clean :) Food/drink: This is where we proudly say, «The food is awesome and cheap!» They make an awesome Monte Cristo(yes, a truck stop diner makes a mean Monte Cristo!!) and chicken fried steak. The menu is huge, so the chance of you finding something you want is likely, and I’m sure that will be good, too. Service: They are open 24/7, so there has definitely been times at 2am when we’ve convinced half a bar to come out. They are always welcoming no matter what time and service has been good. Final Thought: «trust me, it’s awesome!»

So we usually try to go to Black Bear but when they have a 45min wait this is where we end up. It’s a 24hr truck stop so the restaurant is combined with a store that literally has everything you can think of. I can’t complain about this place there pricing is cheap, friendly service, and the food is good. Don’t forget to check in you get 15% off your total bill.

This place is definitely a hidden gem! My friend told me about this place and brought me here for breakfast and boy am I glad he did! We came pretty early so we sat ourselves. Our waitress Tammy greeted us almost immediately and was very friendly! I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak. It came with eggs and hashbrowns. I opted for toast, as pancakes was an option and my eyes weren’t that that hungry! Our food came quickly too. And please do come hungry because the portions are big! The chicken fried steak was warm and hardy and the gravy had big chunks of sausage. This is random but I loved how the toast was perfectly toasted and buttered… Ready for jam and it’s journey into my belly! Needless to say, I ate every bite on my plate!
