I got the Chinese chicken because of a previous review. It was delicious. We dropped our dressing on the way home and went back and they gave us another one. The people here were all really nice and the best part is that they are ADA compliant so I didn’t have any trouble being in a wheelchair. I will definitely be going back and sending my friends and family there. My next trip I will be trying the sandwiches.

Corner store on 14th and O UPS Access Point Lotto vendor. Polaroids and photos of winners behind the counter. So people win at this store. The polaroids make me think of people that are banned from the store. but it’s actually lotto winners. They have a deli. fresh fruit. bottled beverages. snacks like chips. pre-made salads. and then a small selection toiletries. I’ve only gone to pick up packages and buy lotto or scratchers but it’s always an enjoyable stop mostly because of the people.

I’m a fan! The customer service is amazing. I ordered the roast beef sandwich with house dressing. It tasted great, but next time, I want to go for the egg/tuna salad sandwich with a french roll upgrade. I appreciated the fun chat and wish more businesses would follow suit! Maybe your time is too valuable, but they find more value in interaction with people and I can really respect that.

The name is a bit deceiving. This place is not a full mini market, it is more of a sandwich and snack shop run by the nicest family. The sandwiches are delicious old school style made with good quality deli meats and cheeses, and fresh shredded lettuce. They shave the meats and cheeses themselves. The sandwiches average under $ 5. The lovely woman that makes the sandwiches is a hoot to talk to. Other cool stuff about this place 1) they sell lotto tickets and scratchers, with quite a number of big winners. 2) about the market part of the store, they do have a small selection of household cleansers, laundry & dish soap, etc. 3) clean store 4) it’s family owned and been around for several decades… they are doing something right. 5) deli menu items; if you don’t see a particular combination just ask. Thing to note: 1) cash only. Good olé American currency.

People are as friendly as you can get. The only downside is that they are cash only. I have actually been short a buck or two and they said«get me next time». I was shocked. Most places would make you put something back, but not at Sam’s! Selection is kind of limited for a liquor store, but I mainly come here for the sandwiches anyway. Sandwiches are pretty simple: meat, cheese(if you want it) and lettuce. They put a good amount of meat on it, and they will chat you up all the while. Pretty cheap and very tasty! I usually get a turkey sandwich or roast beef(you HAVE to get the special sauce if you have roast beef, it’s amazing!) and I love their french rolls. I come in at least once a week for lunch. They also have apparently sold several lotto tickets that hit big bucks, so maybe you can get lucky when you stop by!

The only downside is that it’s CASHONLY! Super mom and pop shop. Buy my Lotto tickets there all the time… Nice people…

Sam’s is always there when I need a sammy or a snack at work. This is the closest shop to my work, so the convenience can’t be beat. I love their egg salad sandwiches, and appreciate that they will let you slide on a dollar or two if you don’t bring enough cash. I wish they took debit/credit cards! The hours at this shop cater to the business set so they close pretty early, 6 pm I think.

They not only have the best sandwiches downtown but they have a Chinese chicken salad that is to die for! Some of my favorite sandwiches are Turkey on a roll with special sauce or Egg salad on wheat. You are always treated extra special by the owner and staff. You will never go wrong if you pick up your lunch at Sam’s Market!

I’ve driven by Sam’s more than I’ve actually stopped in. This is mostly because their hours are all over the place. They seem to open only when they feel like it. And the prices for some of their items are outrageous and don’t justify the slim selection. My advice? Do yourself a favor and move on to any of the plethora of alternative corner store markets.

Not to be biased or anything, but Sam’s market has the most simple yet delicious sandwiches in Sacramento. My favorite sandwich is tuna and egg salad and I won’t get it anywhere else, but here. Not only will their sandwiches, salads, or any of their other products satisfy your cravings/hunger, their customer service is tip top and will leave you in a better mood. I say I am not biased because it is my great aunt that owns the store, but Sam’s Market is truly amazing. Quality and customer satisfaction are what they strive for. I don’t live in Sacramento anymore since i am away at college and a major thing i miss the most are Sandwiches from Sam’s…so GO to Sam’s Market! I promise you it’s worth it. Love love love it!!!

This place is a mystery: It has horrible hours and sky-high prices. Sometimes I go to Posey’s General Store(3 blocks over) simply because they actually want business. They’re open from 9:00 am to 6PM M-F.

I live right near Sam’s Market and I refer to it as the inconvenience store, mainly because their hours are designed around the state workers and not the neighborhood folks. That being said, the owners are all friendly and the prices are okay. When I need a sweet or salty fix and a pantry raid comes up short, I usually head here first. I get my lottery tickets here too. I haven’t tried their sandwiches or salads.

My boss introduced me to Sam’s Market and recommended the Chinese chicken salad. The salad ingredients were standard; shredded lettuce, chicken breast pieces, fried noodle pieces, pickled onion and almonds. What makes the salad is the dressing. For the uninitiated(and that would be me) you order and receive your salad at the back of the store and then pick up a dressing container at the front of the store. The generously sized salad was only $ 4.95. My boss ordered off-menu. She had a tuna salad topped with egg salad sandwich. My parents love that combination. Boss developed her taste for it from a co-worker. Are there other weird people out there like the folks and boss? It is great that there are eating establishments that will cater to these people. :)

It’s not the best sandwiches place in the world. And it’s definitely not the best sandwiches that are out there. But, they certainly have the most comforting, freshly made-to-order, sandwiches. Labelle, Orvella, and Kenton are always in the mood to converse. I have to admit, I really enjoyed their occasional epic stories about life, when I’m here ordering one of their sandwiches. A nice cold drink is usually what I also get along with my sandwich. As far as I know, this small market is family owned and operated since the dawn of time. The last renovation work they had, the market was closed for almost a year. I was saddened and a bit concerned for them. But as a result, their businesses are now doing very well.

I agree with the other reviewer that Sam’s is limited in the condiments(only shredded lettuce and mayo and mustard). Yet, as simple as the sandwiches are, they somehow taste darn good. I usually get turkey or roast beef on a french roll. The roll costs extra but is well worth it.

This is a little market with pretty good deli sandwiches, but terrible customer service. One of the employees seems to be drunk on a regular basis. I would give it more stars if they had more stuff to put on the sandwiches like tomatoes, etc.
