Let me start by saying that I have done what seems at this point like a ton of these color type 5k events. This was my 2nd here in Sacramento. I loved the location of the start at Capital Mall. To me this area is the most iconic part of Sac. Look one way and there is the Capital building, look the other and there is the Tower Bridge. Lovely, simply lovely. The route was awesome. Start heading toward the bridge then take a right and run though Old Sac, another one of my favorite Sacramento iconic areas. We wound through Old Sac, down the waterfront towards Broadway then through the neighborhoods and back to Capital Mall. Great! Now the negatives. It wasn’t the most organized of all of the events I attended. I didn’t feel like there were enough water stations and there was no mention in staging about the importance of walkers staying to one side so the runners can make their way through. Another down side was the fact that there weren’t nearly the amount of vendors that there are at other events. I was also bummed that there wasn’t a stage or music at the finish line for celebrating and bombing each other with color. Am I nit picking? Yeah maybe. Bottom line: I will probably do this event again, along with all the others that come through because that is just how I roll.
