I wish I had good things to say about my experience because the staff seemed really nice and the reviews on Unilocal were promising but our food was terrible. My partner ordered the Peking spareribs. Unfortunately the meat was spoiled. We let the staff know. They took his plate and then returned with a menu for him to order something else. The waiter was polite but told him that we would be charged half price for the ribs because the manager said she had to charge us. We spoke with the manager who was at first upset that we didn’t like the food and denied that the meat had spoiled. We spoke for awhile and she finally conceded that we did not have to pay and said she would check the meat.(Apparently they believed that my partner hadn’t tried the dish and just didn’t like the way it looked). In the end my partner had the lemon chicken and I had the phở. We also shared an order of the lumpia. The phở was a little less than average but edible, the lumpia was decent but nothing to get excited over, and the lemon chicken was practically cafeteria grade. I wish I had thought to take pictures. Our food looked nothing like the pictures on Unilocal.Maybe it was just a bad day in the kitchen or one bad apple chef but we won’t be going back.

I don’t why I don’t come here more. I ordered the #5 Phở and it was really good. the base was rich and tasty. My kids got the garlic chicken wings and they were really tasty as well. The things that threw mw off were the awefull smell if the bathroom and unfortunately limited service. there were quite a number of people coming in after us and it was hard to get another napkin or service. They seem to be a little understaffed. oh well the food is good. that’s really all that matters when you’re hungry.

I happened to be in the area so I decided to give this place a try. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was very clean. I ordered a #50, vermicelli bowl with chicken. It was delicious! One of the better vermicelli bowls I have had in Sacramento. I will definitely stop by this place any time I am in the area.

My fiancé wanted to try this place. So w did, we had the beef and cabbage phở, but missing was the cabbage. We also had the garlic shrimp, too soggy. The orange chicken, this is good anywhere especially at a place called Golden Dragon off Broadway. But this orange chicken, something was off with this one. Like it was mixed with the garlic shrimp, it melts in your mouth. It shouldn’t. Plus, we had the pork fried rice, it was pretty good. The overall was ok, didn’t expect to pay so much for not so good food. The question would I return? Naw, there’s so many other places to try.

This place is my go to spot whenever i am lazy to cook. They offer many different variety of dishes, from vietnamese, filipino to chinese. Today i ordered a large beef phở, garlic chicken wings, and crispy pata(fried ham hocks) everything was cooked to perfection and the price is well worth it.

We are regular customers of Hoa Viet on Bruceville and Stockton Blvd. Will also frequent the Broadway and Bradshaw locations. This location was awful. Grilled shrimp were spoiled tasting but those in Spring Rolls were okay. Bok choy in soup wasn’t thoroughly cleaned, Wor wonton had poor flavor. Prices higher at this location. Service was the best part. Very friendly. Restaurant clean. Best locations are Bruceville and Stockton Blvd. Worth the drive.

Overall 4 stars ***Take out Review Great customer service both over the phone and in person. I ordered phở and an order of General wings to go. Done in about 15 minutes– asked if I needed spoons, forks, sauces etc. –nice touch. Saddened by the small cold pile of chicken and 4 shrimp for my phở. The chicken was cold and didn’t look fresh– sad I literally only got 4 shrimp. The flavor of the broth was delicious, and the fresh jalapeño, sprouts, and noodles were good. Chicken wings are fire!!! Amazing! I order mine extra hot plus garlic! I ordered chicken and shrimp phở in beef broth– will try again maybe just ask for fresh chicken? Tried the shakes and Thai iced tea which is yummy! Great food and customer service, and it’s open late! Hidden Gem in the pocket!

I’ve been here several times, their #17(I think) combination phở is incredibly delicious! The broth is served at a perfect temperature & the servings are big! You can always ask for extra noodle/broth/meat etc. Great service & nice ambiance !!

Great phở and stir fried plates! I especially love the Mongolian beef, Peking spareribs, orange chicken, and BBQ pork fried rice. I always get a large bowl of rare beef phở(#12) and am never disappointed, while my fiancé gets the extra large #1, which he says has plenty of tendon(his favorite!). Service is friendly, although sometimes a little awkward depending on your server — which is why I knocked off one star. And by awkward, I mean there are a couple servers who are totally on top of it every time, and there are a couple that just… aren’t. Never bad service, just awkward; and I really don’t know how to explain it other than that! But you’ll know what I mean if it happens to you(lol). Overall, clean, spacious restaurant with a big menu; huge portions for the price; and you can expect a tab for two to be around ~$ 25.

On 3÷3÷2016, I decided to come to a particular location located at the Pocket/Greenhaven neighborhood of «Phở Bac Hoa Viet.» Since I come to Stockton Blvd location many times so far, I stopped by to see how it goes. As I entered their doors, the atmosphere is quite elegant and relaxing as I welcomed here. The concept is much like visiting to an actual local Chinese restaurant with an old schooled 1980s decors and designs. The employees are doing a great job here for making the customers like me a fine, joyable service. No cons at all. Now onto the food! I ordered my signature Vietnamese food: Phở Tai(aka. rare eye steak with noodles.) As I ate it, it tasted not bad. The ingredients and toppings are very on point and top notch. The soup however, is quite salty to me. I’m sure it needs to reduce the salt content next time, but so far, no issues. It’s interesting that this location has Filipino food! I haven’t tried it, yet I’ll be back in the next visits to try it out. There’s plenty of parking available, so you can park anywhere you want. To conclude, this location of Phở Bac Hoa Viet at the Pocket/Greenhaven neighborhood is a good place to eat the finest Southeast Asian cuisines. A worthy visit! My rating: 3 ½ stars.

I was craving wonton soup so i decided to try this place out since it was in my neighborhood. Very big portions and the soup was delicious. I continued to order from this restaurant and i decided to switch up my menu the other day and i ordered chow fun. Although it looked great, it was a bit bland. My boyfriend and i had to put a bunch of seasonings and sauce in to make it right. Overall i think its a great place to go if you’re craving phở or wonton soup. I recommend the wor won ton soup rather than just the wonton soup.

Food wise Phở Bac is pretty standard for an Asian restaurant. They have the soup, the noodles, the stir fried everything, the fried rice. Their menu is quite large so you’ll definitely find something assuming you aren’t a super picky eater. What makes this place cool is even after several months of not coming, the people here still remember who we are. I have a hard time remembering people I met last week. So props to them on that. The place is usually empty when we come in though I’m sure they get a pretty steady stream of customers seeing as they’ve been here so long. This is our go to when we can’t be assed to pick anywhere else or drive anywhere. I pretty much always get the same thing, the seafood bean cake soup, which tastes basic but whatever. It’s semi healthy.

I came here a few times cause it’s close to my parents place and they rave about it. Since this is the only real phở option in the area, this was an easy choice. I measure any phở place by their broth. The broth is what makes or breaks the phở and the broth here is decent. Came out super hot and flavorful. What else is decent here? Service was pretty good. Attentive and very willing to please. Almost too much actually. Sort of approaching the uncomfortably nice lines but not quite. Not sure if you’ve experienced that before, but there is such a thing as too nice. Egg rolls. Just okay. Wish it had some lettuce to wrap it in like other Vietnamese places. Spring rolls. This was for the wife. I’m not a big fan of them to begin with so I’ll refrain from commenting. Overall, good experience and best phở in the area. Not the best I’ve ever had but pretty good. Extra byte… Wife was wondering what the difference was between the egg rolls and the lumpia on the menu. I noticed that the lumpia was in the ‘appeRtizers’ section in the back while the egg rolls were in the ‘appetizers’ section in the front. Maybe the back(where their Filipino cuisine is located) is more authentic??? I have yet to try…

Came here with my boyfriend a few weeks ago and we ending up being here on a fluke as we were indecisive of where we wanted to eat. Of all places we ended up in pocket/greenhaven and realized that our first date spot was close. We arrived at 10am as stated on Unilocal, but saw the signage that they don’t open until 11am. Once the place finally opened(we were the first to be seated) we saw other people coming in and in just about 30 minutes of them opening, the place was getting packed. We hard ordered phở(chicken and rare steak) and a side order of lumpia and bistek(filipino beef steak). They can’t go wrong with their phở. It was delicious and hot. The lumpia was yummy! I don’t think you can mess up shanghai lumpia. The bistek was ok. I think it lacked the calamansi tartness as I had only tasted soy sauce. The meat was super tender, but the flavor wasn’t what I’m used too. One thing about this place is that it is CLEAN!!! I’ve been to one of their sister restaurants on Broadway and boy does that place scare me! It’s filled with dust, old décor and spotty service. If only the owners had owned the restaurant on broadway I’d for sure visit more often! I’ll definitely come back to this place for their phở, super clean establishment and customer service! They also added their family recipe wings so I definitely will give it a try!

There are many Phở places in Sacramento and this one just didn’t do it for me. Upon entering, a nonchalant«sit wherever» command was given and the staff walked away. It was more so the way she said… but I was turned off pretty early. I chose a table and immediately, I regretted it. The chair was very uncomfortable. There was no flat support — it was more like a thin cushion on top of a middle support bar. Chairs definitely need to be replaced. On to the food, the thing that matters. Ordered Shrimp and Pork Spring Rolls — 2 for $ 5.25. Why so expensive? Especially when it’s wrapped pretty thin with just a sliver of pork, thin shrimp, noodles, and a layer of basil. Where’s the carrot? Cucumber? Cilantro? anything else? To say the least, it lacked any flavor and I ended up having to drench it in the peanut sauce. Then comes the Phở. Broth was okay. A lil too sweet for me. The meat is where I was disappointed. I ordered the #1 which i assume was the Dac Biet. Most of my beef slices were 95% fat. The flank pieces were just cuts of fat. You’d think a Large size would have a decent mixture /quantity of meat but it was aiiitteee. This is just my own personal expectation that was let down. 191 Reviews with 4 stars. I’d say try it out and be the judge yourself.

Upon entering I was blown away by a cold gust of air. It was amazing. It’s around 8pm and in the 90’s outside so walking into a restaurant that is chilly is a huge blessing. They are also open till 10pm which is another huge plus when you are hungry and hot. The place is set in an old school shopping center next to 24hour fitness and surrounded by a huge parking lot and a collection of options. The place was pretty busy, a party of 10 sat in the middle and there were 3 other tables besides ours. The first thing I noticed when I looked at the menu was a lot of items were crossed out. I thought that was really odd. The menu is also really packed and starts over in the back as if they want to have 2 menus in one both serving two different types of foods. I had a hard time finding something to get. I settled on the chow fun. It was good. The noodles were average, there was no other special garnish, or vegetables, which I thought was odd. They didn’t even add bean sprouts. The meat we chose was beef. That was surprisingly good. Not much fat. Very tender. My boyfriend ordered the Phở Rice Noodle Soup beef stew. The beef was 99% fat. I passed on any meat it was gross. I did get 2 nice pieces of bock Choy. It also had noodles. They were less than fresh and just didn’t do it for me. You did get plenty so you can’t complain they were skimpy. The broth was my favorite part of this dish. It was really tasty, but I wouldn’t order it again. I’m sorry to say, but I won’t be returning. This just isn’t for me.

From this location I’ve had the charbroiled chicken over vermicelli noodles, charbroiled chicken over white rice, & the salt and pepper chicken wings. A friend of mine brought over chicken with vermicelli, and I didn’t care for the noodles but the chicken was the best charbroiled chicken I’ve ever had! So I knew I had to visit this place. I found the menu online, called and placed my order. They said it would be ready in 15 minutes and when I got there it was ready and waiting. The staff was extremely friendly! I ordered the chicken over rice and salt and pepper wings. The sauce that it comes with is so good. I pour it on top on my salad. The salad is so yummy I ate it first. The tomatoes at the bottom soak in the sauce and give them lots of flavor. I prefer these wings over wing stop! And the veggies that come with them are so good that I eat them all! However it gets very spicy!!! I wasn’t expecting that, and was forced to take a 2 minute Break to slurp a whole glass of water(ima baby with spicy food) eyes watered and everything. But anyway, definitely check this place out if you are in the area. I know I will be visiting often.

Cleaner than most of the other Hoa Viets I’ve been to(i.e. The one on Broadway, Bradshaw, and in South Sacramento near SF market). Menu is the same for all Hoa Viets as I usually order the small Phở Ga(chicken phở – small is $ 8, large $ 8.55, and extra large $ 9.05), egg rolls($ 6.50), and a jackfruit shake with pearls($ 4.00 – $ 3.25 if you don’t care for pearls). Their phở is OK but definitely not the best I’ve ever had(try Phở 90 degrees in San Jose if you ever get a chance!). Their broth is a good medium between sweet and salty but, unfortunately, they use a lot of MSG as I always find myself downing glasses upon glasses of water each time I come here. They offer all then basic essentials one expects to find in their Phở(i.e. basil, bean sprouts, jalapeños, good portion of meat, cilantro, a choice between thick chow fun type noodles or standard vermicelli noodles, white onion slices, and Siracha and hoisin sauce.) and a small will FILLYOUUP! Their egg rolls are nice and crunchy(not sure what type of meat they use – I’m assuming pork) and the fish sauce they provide is always yummy! Too bad it almost always gives me an upset stomach afterwards :( Finally, their jackfruit shake is DELICIOUS! Not too sweet and HUGE! They use canned jackfruit mixed with melted sugar and ice – to my knowledge I didn’t see them add any powder – so, in my opinion, they are a notch above Tapioca Express and Lollicup. I’ve tried their beef and chicken chow fun before and didn’t really care for it. Extremely greasy and salty. Moral of the story, stick to the phở! Overall cleanliness is a 2⁄5 since this restaurant is a bit dated and their booth seats are starting suffer from expected wear and tear. Wipe/wash your utensils and sauce plates before using them and you should be fine! Service is 2⁄5 as we had to flag down our waitress a few times for water refills, menus, the bill, etc. Since this place is relatively cheap and close to home I’ll probably visit again out of convenience BUT, Phở Xue La is my number one choice for phở in Sacramento.

It’s the only phở place in Pocket, so it hits the spot when you want a big bowl of phở on a cold day. I always get rare beef and add mint, jalapenos, and lime juice. Their broth is pretty flavorful and there is a fair proportion of noodles to broth. My boyfriend likes the bbq pork rice plate that comes with soup and salad. We’ll usually share both and leave feeling full and satisfied. The servers are all relatively young and friendly. They’re always quick to bring water and utensils. Sometimes the food comes out really fast, other times it’s an average wait — it just depends. They do a lot of take out orders too. The restaurant is always clean. Their menu is very large as they have Chinese and Filipino food too. I’ve only had their Vietnamese food so I can’t comment on those. There are pictures in the menu, which is helpful if you don’t know what you want. The only downside is that it can be hard to find parking in the lot.
