This hospital cafeteria is very good with different cooking stations like GRILL, HOTWOK, PIZZA, COFFEE, ROTISSERIE. My son was there for a couple of weeks and I actually stayed with him from morning to night so this was my «TOGO» kitchen for food. Quality very good and the staff there are quick and friendly. Hours open for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Late Night don’t know the exact times. They also have a salad bar, hot soups and lots of items ready to grab and go. It’s a Meal Deal here Thanks

Best cafeteria for hospital that I had ever visit. On St. Patty’s day they had breakfast special with really cheap special price. So, if you’re by chance to be around UCD hospital, try their breakfast or lunch or dinner or a snack.

When this café opened up in August of 2010, I thought why not give it a try? Whether you work at UCDMC or a visitor at this hospital, it’s a must visit although one needs to know the hours they are open. I do remember when they first opened. I thought to myself this is a hospital café??? When you first enter the pavilion café you are in another world. You enter into a café area of do I want to order breakfast made on the spot? Or to the right later in the morning they have pizzas, wraps and sandwiches to go. Further into the cafeteria if it’s later in the morning around eleven, lunch entrees are a option; some you request or self serve salads & soups on the right. They do have refrigerated areas where you can purchase boxed lunch items, sandwiches and drinks to go. There is a area for coffee and tea drinks too as well as soda machines. For you water drinkers they do have that in the soda machine areas as well as hot water by itself. For as long as I worked at UCDMC, I did come down for a few items. My favorite was the sugary cinnamon spiced-like donut that looked like a muffin. Yum I can go for that right now! I have also purchased beef and broccoli entrée aside from the soups and salads too. My favorite was their cute little bread loaves which were located by the soups in white or wheat flavors. Now the cash register areas were convenient; one must pay before leaving either by cash, credit or if you’re a physician you have your own card. Then you go to two areas of picking up utensils, napkins and condiments if needed. Then the huge decision where should we sit? The area to the far left is basically the employee or doctors area but I have seen others sit here. You do have bar like seating to look out into the front of the hospital by the fairly new parking structure area plus Shriners hospital. The tables in this area are very cafeteria-like. I wasn’t a huge fan of the chairs as they were set back too much and didn’t give good back support. They did have a few small booth areas in this area. Now the other areas where the main booths were five of them plus other seating was convenient depending on how many are in your party. My favorite area to sit was the outdoor patio. You feel like you were on vacation when you sit outside here. Totally set away from your place of work and a feeling of rest! It was my favorite area to sit especially in the summer mornings. My take on this Pavilion Café; it would have gotten 5 stars but because of the different hours it is opened and the high prices I knocked it down only one star. Do frequent this place and if it’s not raining and not too cold; sit outside on the patio. You will understand where I’m coming from!

While I was camped out at UC Davis for a few days, this place became my savior. This is one of the best institutional cafeterias I’ve ever ate at. I was able to get breakfast, lunch, dinner, and midnight snacks for about a ¼ the cost of a restaurant serving similar food and everything was freshly made on sight. I had great omelettes with potatoes and toast for less than $ 5, burgers and fries cooked to order, and even desserts like slices of cheesecake or fresh baked cookies. I don’t know if I would go to a hospital cafeteria as a regular eating destination, but if I’m ever in the area again… I definitely know where to get good food for a really good price.

We were stuck at the ER for over 8 hours-it was a super crazy day there. Given the fact that i did not want to leave my friend alone, but was super hungry, decided to try out the café. Once again, my dad is a chef and I AM a PICKY eater. But– the food was surprisingly good! I don’t mean a 5-star restaurant here, but decently priced, whole food, with choices, while in the ER. That makes 5 star on my list.

Food is okay; price is reasonable, free WiFi is convenient, not enough power plug in the café though(reason for taking down a star); but it’s a good place to cram for exam or bulk of work given the rarity of coffee shops close by and difficulty with parking. I like the hot tea selection. The price is cheaper than Starbucks, Peets, or other boutique coffee shops nearby. I am a patient who usually WFH, but if I have an appt here, I enjoy working near main hospital café before and after my appt. In a hot summer day, stay inside with air conditioner. In a breezy day, nice to be chilling outside under umbrellas. Also, there’s a free summer concert on 8÷7÷14 in the evening at 45th& X.

A much-better than average hospital café with a number of decent food items. They have a few different food areas where you can get fresh items from a grill, or freshly made items from a wok or pizza fresh from the pizza oven, or delicious sandwiches, as well as a salad/sandwich/desert bar, hot fresh coffee and soft-serve. All at reasonable prices, all in a hospital. Now, the food isn’t always the healthiest, nor are the options wide for vegetarians, but if you’re not eating there every day there are some great options. From the grill, they make an insanely good Grilled Cheese with Bacon, and their sausage-cheese omelette is mind-blowing. A lot of their wrap sandwiches are delicious, too. And they have these cookies with chocolate drizzle across the top that are insane. Great stuff. Whereas the food may not be super-healthy, they do have decent options environmentally. The plates and utensils are all ready for compost and there are multiple trash bins where you can sort your garbage accordingly. Plus they have fun hours. They’re open at night till 8pm, but then they open again for an hour from 11 — 12, and then from 1 – 4. Not 24 hour dining, but better than average for the area. Visiting the hospital can be a stress, but swinging by the Pavilion Café makes it slightly less so.

I worked the night shift and the young Hispanic guy with a hat completely forgot to make my food. Horrible. #hiresomeonewhocanrememberyourorder

I work at UCDMC and I dont really like to buy my lunches but when I do, Pavilion Café is pretty decent. Today, I bought the Le Diplomat sandwich and calm chowder soup and was pretty satisfied. The sandwich is pre-made and on display in the cooler which made the bread pretty hard. The cool thing was that they ask you if you want a spread to be added on the sandwich for free so i opted for the chipotle mayonaise. It was stuffed with a lot of turkey and ham which i really appreciated bc usually they skimp on the meat. The calm chowder wasnt bad either. It was creamy and had a lot of calms and minimal potatoes — definitely a plus! TIP: free water and ice! i love cold drinks on a hot day so i usually get ice in the morning for my coffee!

I have unfortunately had to spend some time at the UC Davis med center. Some of the positives; my pop pulling through surgery, world class health care professionals doing there thing and finding a good little place to grab a bite. Tons of choices ranging from soups, salad, pasta, sandwiches, pizza, breakfast burritos, fries, burgers… you get the idea. The food is very serviceable. I would give it a 2.5 to 3.0 star but the prices are jaw dropping. Tonight I ordered a mammoth slice of pepperoni pizza, soda and a chocolate and vanilla pudding parfait for 3.75. Wow. If I lived closer I could see myself frequenting just on price alone. Btw, this place is inside the hospital.
