Ice cream served is Crystal brand; cost $ 6 for 3 small cones. Had a small child with us, so we asked for a little container in case of spills. Was pointedly told that it cost him money to do this and reached into the tip box, grabbed a dollar(ostensibly to cover his overhead for that container) and handed us the little paper tub that probably cost him all of a nickel. I graciously thanked him for his generosity and handed him an extra dollar so he wouldn’t feel so put out, and because I didn’t want the next 20 families who needed the same thing not to be treated so awkwardly. Jeez.

The family and I stopped by Old Sacramento Café for some ice cream before heading home a few weekends ago. It was such a nice finishing touch to the end of our day after walking around Old Sac for a few hours in the summer heat. The owner was really nice(it wasn’t busy when we got there but after we got our orders a huge group of over 10 people showed up) and made small conversation while we decided on which flavors of ice cream to get. In the end we walked out with good old chocolate and strawberry cheesecake. Both were totally yummy!
