Love, Love, Love this place!!! The food is amazing! I tend to modify my orders due to being a picky eater and they always get it right every time. The staff is friendly and the food is fast. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for some delicious Mexican food. 5 Stars!

Oh, geez. I just ate there today and my stomach is already hating life. Two words: gastrointestinal fireworks. But the food wasn’t even tasty. Chicken enchiladas were dry; nothing inside but the chicken. Chips were stale. The horchata tasted like perfume. I feel like I just shredded $ 20, fed it to a goat, and then watched the goat eat my favorite hat. Probably the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had, and I’ve had it everywhere. Stay away, or spend an evening in the banos cursing this place.

Amazing shrimp burrito! My husband brought me here, and I was sufficiently impressed with the quality of food! We will be back :)

My granddaughter was recently born at UC Davis Med Center. While visiting up there, we were looking for a place to eat and found Midtown Taqueria and decided to give it a try. Since then, my kids have been back there several times while they are there in town. My wife and I have gone almost every time we go to visit. Love the chips and salsa bar. The chips are warm and the roasted red chili salsa is some of the best I’ve ever had. Twice now I’ve had their wet burrito, you can choose from about 10 different types/styles of meat. I’ve had the carne asada and chili colorado and enjoyed both very much. Also had their crunchy taco and enchilada combo plate. Also very good! The place is a bit on the small side and can get pretty cramped when they get busy. They do have a nice patio area, but it was to cold to sit outside when we were there. Also the drive to get there from UC Davis, down 39th street, is a very pretty drive. Very nice, older homes, plus it was Christmas time and many of the houses were decorated. It made for a nice drive on our way to eat there. I know that has nothing to do with restaurant but it is now ingrained in my memory of the place. We will probably go up to visit my granddaughter again this weekend and will, in all likelihood, stop by to grab lunch or dinner at Midtown Taqueria once again.

The only time I eat here is when I’m visiting someone at the hospital across the street. It’s a great option to hospital cafeteria food!!! It had been a year or so since I ate here, and it was ok. I had the carne asada super nachos. On my most recent visit I got the grilled chicken super nachos($ 7). It was a plate full of chips, piled thick with big, tender and seasoned chicken, refried beans, melted jack cheese, pico de gallo, sour cream, and guacamole. It was pretty damn delicious and filling. I really liked one of the spicy red salsas from the bar, so I dumped that on top. The guacamole was on the runny side and didn’t look too fresh, but it didn’t take away from the taste of the nachos. Maybe get it on the side next time. Thumbs up for the well stocked salsa bar(they even had grilled onions, just cold)! They should put a trash bin out so we can bus our own tables. Most of the tables were dirty when we walked in at 8pm. Staff taking orders were nice and patient. Our food came up in a timely manner although my dining partner got his food a few minutes before me. Since they had chips and a really good salsa to munch on, I didn’t mind the extra wait.

I used to really enjoy this place. Maybe not as much as the pizza place that occupied the building previously but still, it’s not that easy to go wrong with decent cheap Mexican food. It’s really disappointing to see the decline of this business that once was a pretty mellow yummy spot not far from my place. The employees have continually gotten more and more rude. Their behavior will be what kills this establishment. If you want to be treated like a pain in the behind by workers who are generous with annoyed and mean looks and receiving cheap just okay food, this is the place for you. If you don’t wanted to be treated like a nuisance and want better food, then I suggest Tres Hermanas or La Fiesta.

This is an average quick Mexican food spot. I really enjoyed the enchilada sauce. I’ve only tried the cheese enchilada, so I cannot comment on the meat items on the menu. I liked that the enchilada plate also came with sour cream & guacamole instead of charging you extra for it. It’s small, so finding a place to sit may be challenging, especially when it’s cold outside. They do have heaters outside though.

They MICROWAVEDMYTOGOORDERINTHESTYROFOAMBOX. I ordered a combo plate and got back to work(which is not close by), open the bag and a totally warped/fried styrofoam box held my food! I thought maybe it was from the food being super hot, so I took a small bite and it tasted like PLASTIC. I called them and they said that they had in fact microwaved the box to melt the cheese. REALLY?! Not to mention totally stale chips-no wonder they’re free! Never coming back.

I have been there a couple of times now and I’ll say, it’s tasty! I’ve tried the«super burrito with carne asada» and a «torta with carne asada.» Both are a must try, although it seems the super burrito is more popular and I can see why! Just a little side note, if you want refried beans with your super burrito you MUST tell them when you order or else you get the whole(which I personally prefer). After ordering, you receive your food within 10 minutes. You receive complementary chips and salsa while you wait. The place is very small and usually packed so I’d recommend ordering to go. Overall, it’s cheap and delicious you can’t really beat that! It’s my new favorite Mexican spot.

Came here on a Monday night at 930 pm. They told me they would not accept dine in. Well, what’s the point having your closing hours at 11pm? Food was okay and service was meh.

The quality dropped slightly. For carna asada fries they use prefried fries. That does not taste good and is a bad practice overall.

Soo far, this has to be my favorite Mexican spot. Prices are great and fast service. I usually come here during the lunch hr and they have your food ready within 10−15mins after ordering! Free Chip and salsa bar I’m the corner loaded various salsas, Pico de Gallo, and grilled veggies. You can order at the counter or call in. I always get the California burrito, regular burrito or steak tacos. And lemme tell you, they are generous with their meat— you don’t just get a pinch of meat on your tacos, it is loaded! their carne asada fries are not the best, cheese dries in clumps and fries are a-okay… I would only recommend their burritos and tacos. Its a cramped space, so order to go or dine outside.

I really don’t like writing negative reviews. The food was terrible and the service was very poor, the food was bland and tasted like it was sitting in the refrigerator for a week. The chips were stale and the salsa was tasteless but hot to make matters worse the hours of operation state they’re open until 11 p.m. at night. At 10:33 while we were sitting and barely eating our meal we were told that they would be closing in 3 minutes. We opted for water that was sitting on the counter in a water container and the water tasted like it came straight from the water hose from my back yard. I will definitely never be back.

I came here after playing tennis because a California burrito with carne asada, guac, cheese, tomatoes and french fries sounded delicious. The burrito came out to a little under $ 7 which was a steal for how much they gave you. The order was fast and they gave me a little bag for chips to go. It has been a while since I have been here but I think they used to just have the bags and chip containers out but now they give it to you when you order food. I honestly don’t remember but the California burrito here is good and their salsa bar is okay, I only like one of the spicy red salsa there.

I’ve been wanting tacos for awhile. Taco Bell wasn’t cutting it. This place delivered. We’ll not literally. We had to go there. It’s nice that they have a parking lot, although they’re not really in midtown. Tacos were a bit too stuffs with lettuce but the meat was really good. Carne Asada and carnitas. My wife’s burrito wasn’t particularly good though. The sauce that I though was chipotle was not… And was just gross. But, the guacamole sauce was VERY good.

I stopped by midtown taqueria on a whim the other day, and I’m very happy I did. I always struggle with what to order at taquerias because I love Mexican food so much. I opted for a carnitas super burrito, wet. It’s the best of both worlds when you can’t decide if you want enchiladas or a burrito. The burrito was absolutely delicious, and huge(I had it for leftovers two days in a row)! The carnitas was flavored wonderfully and not too salty, the other ingredients inside were fresh and tasty too. The salsa bar offered great options, I love creamy green salsa and there’s didn’t disappoint. I foresee more trips to this taqueria in the future as its so much better than la favorita.

My sister brought me here claiming they have the best shrimp burrito. Though I think she was somewhat exxagerating, I must say I enjoyed my meal at midtown taqueria. The woman at the register was very friendly! Inside is pretty cramped but who cares about that when you have outside seating! We ordered a burrito to share and indulged in the salsa bar. Few good options. Nothing amazing but everything was good. Our burrito was brought out to us and it was delicious! I must say that my favorite shrimp burrito comes from a new taqueria in Elk Grove but this burrito was definitely great. The hours here are super convenient as well, which is how my sister discovered this place! Open late! Can’t complain!
