It’s tough. I’m a little bit on the fence between three stars and four stars, I think three is fair. All right three is low. But four is high. The place is pricey, but so are all of the other bbq places. Half a slab of ribs and a ‘large’ cole slaw set me back $ 22. Nearly five bucks for a single side of cole slaw? Come on, man. Now the ribs were good. Not fall off the bone, but come clean off the bone. They were smoked nicely. Had lots of great flavor. I’m not a big fan of sauce, so I ordered them with none. Sauce hides the flavor. The flavor was very good. Smoky. Not dry. The only thing I wish they would have done was to strip the membrane off the underside of the ribs, but, it wasn’t really a big deal. Half a rack is nearly fifteen bucks a pop, but you get an honest half rack and it’s a lot of meat. Now don’t get me wrong. I’ll come back here. I’ll take them any day of the week over some of the national chain BBQ restaurants. They don’t have a whole lot of items on the menu compared to some of the other places, but that’s fine. Ribs I know they do a fine job of. I like brisket. They don’t have brisket. But very few local places that do brisket, do it right. I like that they focus on the stuff they know how to do. The location is a little bizarre, it’s sandwiched between a couple automotive shops. Kind of like someone built a small enclave in Joe’s Garage in the industrial park and put a smoker and a small dining area in it. But it works. Plus if your transmission goes out, you’re right there. I saw some of the other reviews. Unfriendly staff? They’re down to business, yeah, but unfriendly? No way.

So i am visiting my sister here in Sacramento and we decided to come here for take out. First of all the lady at the cash register was very helpful and suggested the perfect sauce for my chicken and hot link. She was very pleasant. As for the lady that prepared our order, she was very attentive and suggested we taste the different temp links. She was also very helpful and polite. If your looking for some delicious soul food thats cooked the right way and served with some of the best customer service i have ever had then you have to try this place.

First time here was somewhat impressed. The prices are pretty normal for a BBQ place. I got a 2 way dinner with potato salad and Mac n cheese. The ribs were pretty good the meat almost falling off the bone but you lose some of the flavor since they are literally drenched in sauce. Overall I may come here again but if you want a really good BBQ dinner I prefer Buckhorn Grill in midtown.

Macques is a very convenient BBQ joint to satisfy my BBQ cravings. I ordered many items off the menu, but now I stick with the pork ribs. For the best bang for your buck, I get the half slab combo($ 15) that comes with 2 small sides and a roll. The ribs has a nice smokey flavor, tender, and smothered in a thick BBQ sauce. I got the 52⁄50 sauce(the hottest one) and they weren’t that spicy as I anticipated. The mac n cheese side was delicious. There was a layer of real cheese on top as it cooled down after melting. Overall, the pork ribs were satisfying. It was convenient since there aren’t good BBQ joints in south sac.

Staff is sooooo unfriendly!!! I walked in and was looking at the menu… they did not greet me or ask if I was ready… instead she stood there staring at me with no words and her hands on her hip like I was a bother. When I told her I wanted the 2 meat combo… all tri tip(I didn’t know same meat on a combo wasn’t allowed) instead of saying sorry I can’t do same meat… she nodded her head back and forth with her face down lips smacked together and said«nah uh…». So I politely said«oh sorry I didn’t know I couldn’t do that.» You can’t expect customers to come back if you’re acting like you’re doing US a favor!!! Never again.

The BBQ is good, and the red beans and rice also, baked beans were a little too rich for me and roll tasted pre-packaged, that’s the only reason for not getting a perfect review, but all and all good expierance!

I’ve been coming here for years and it has gone downhill. If you like boiled chicken breasts with bbq sauce drizzled on it to make it bbq-ish then it’s for you. The pulled pork was soggy and the tri tip was super dry. Not sure what happened to this place; it used to be amazing. I want bbq at a bbq place, not boiled meat with sauce on it. Go to Dickeys on Florin; way better!

I have eaten here several times before, but I haven’t been in a while. Oh, I remember! The staff is very unfriendly. I felt like I was an interruption. The service is always horrible. You want to patronize black owned, but it’s difficult when the cashier and staff always has an attitude. Never again!

I have seen this place on the drive by for MANYYEARS, last week I decided to stop by and get a half slab of ribs, well let me tell you I ate the whole thing within six hours. The meat is so tender and well seasoned so I decided to go back and get the chicken dinner and a three-way. I was not disappointed. This is my new barbecue spot. Come get you some!

After a recently underwhelming order from Kris’s Que BBQ, I thought I’d give this place a try. Conveniently located next to the place that sells tamales too(a big plus in my book). First time in and went with the beef tri-tip sandwich($ 7.95) with the 50⁄50(Lil Kick) BBQ sauce on the side, and chips to go(didn’t feel like too adventurous at the time). Suffice to say, the meat was sooo tender and I really felt the BBQ sauce — sure did have a kick to it and nice flavor! Decent sized roll for the sandwich and good bread too. They do also sell the BBQ sauce in bottles if you prefer(MILD or HOT). Small place, old style menu board, but to-go menus readily available and reasonable pricing. Next time I may try the ribs everyone gushes about.

BBQ is great. I had the pork ribs with macaroni and beans as my sides. Food came out fast. Ribs were very tender, macaroni had a lot of flavor(probably the best I’ve had in a while), and beans were great. Ive been here a few times and have always been happy with the food. Ive read a lot of reviews about the staff needing to be more happy but with all the places I’ve been too and getting people who don’t care taking your order, or people getting your order wrong and having attitude when you tell them about it, or staff members who joke around loudly with little regard for the customer as they wait for their food. The staff here at MacQue’s is more basic but certainly focused on what they are doing and do a good job at it. Much better service than a lot of places I’ve experienced. Overall this is a great little restaurant and well kept and I will probably eat here for years to come.

This is a place I wouldn’t tell anybody about, it’s my dirty little secret. The meat were all on point. Perfectly smoked and tender nice and moist. For BBQ I think it have the most appealing textured and smoke flavored. In my oppinion competition worthy. Its a BBQ joint not a 5 star restaurant service wised exceeding my expectation for friendliness and helpfulness. I have pretty good service experiences, so I don’t know what these babies are crying about. I like all side dishes except for the crappy rolls, That they could do without. the sauce is unnecessary I think. I like my sauce better. Value wised if anybody has ever BBQ they would know its definitely worth the asking price, fairs trade I’m sure. I don’t even know why I’m writing this review its supposed to be my dirty little secret.

Great BBQ, greens and BBQ beans. Desert was good. The staff needs to be happier to see customers. That’s the only real ding. I’m not asking for praise, just a smile.

After a couple of recommendations I ordered a whole BBQ chicken, greens and beans. The chicken was okay, but it didn’t met my expectations. Maybe I was expecting expecting too much. The greens ruined the meal. It was a green slush that looked like it came from a can and was heated up. Maybe it was me but it had a hint of moldy taste. The service was okay. I didn’t feel welcomed. My friends couldn’t believe me. I’ll probably give them another shot.

today we discovered a gem! don’t let the curb appeal fool you, MacQue’s serves up Amazing Food! I tried the pork tenderloin dinner with Homemade Mac and Cheese and greens. My mother tried a sandwich and added a side of Mac and Cheese. the mac and cheese was the best I have had since my grandma’s(she didn’t use a blue box when she made mac and cheese either) it was made withreal cheddar cheese, NO american or processed cheese in this dish. the greens were simply delicious! The pork was amazing moist and flavorful. their sauce was also delicious! they have about 5 levels of heat to their sauce, I went with the 50⁄50 with just a little kick. that was enough for me. We will definitely be back! now for the curb appeal… It is located in an industrial park right next to a tire shop. Look for the easy up shade over the front door. You won’t be sorry… And Yes I believe they do have the best Mac and Cheese in Sacramento! Service was fast and Friendly as well

Way too much damn sauce! I ordered the 3 meat plate which included pork ribs, chicken breast and tri tip. All of the meats were covered in the same sauce which was just too much. I suggest you get the sauce on the side to avoid what ruined my appetite. Don’t get me wrong, the sauce is good but I don’t want it drenched over my entire plate making it all taste exactly the same. On a positive note the chicken breast was not dry. Ribs were not as tender as I expected them to be but they were okay. The trip tip was cooked well and not chewy. I received my food quickly. Overall the portion was small for a 17 dollar plate. Cashiers attitude gave me the impression that she wanted to go home. Mixed feelings at this point but I may return since no other bbq joint exists near my workplace.
