It all starts at the top and the principal and Ms. Lynn Soto is among best there is for school site leadership. I am very impressed at the focus in reading, which is the gateway skill to succeed in the state mandated standards based curriculum. The reading program provides for small group instruction utilizing both teachers and aides. There is weekly collaboration of the staff to discuss student progress in reading as well. It makes for a successful program. Most of all, my kindergartener is already reading Dr. Seuss, portions of Harry Potter and many other children’s books. Impressive given that the school year is not yet over.

i just went to the second parent teacher conference for my 11 yr old. i got to admit, her school is very cool. i grew up in the s.c.u.s.d school system and went to an alright school for k-6. with these schools, it’s all about the teachers, the learning environment, and dont forget the biggie which is parent participation. i’ve noticed that schools in higher income neighborhoods, have way more parent involvement than schools in lower income bracket neighborhoods. i’m not judging or making assumptions, i have gone through through the whole spectrum., and i can say this from experience. this school is nice for the reason i mentioned, but also because the teachers, well most of them anyway, are good at their job, and they really seem to care about their students. a child’s education is immeasurable, parents and teachers have to work together as a team to give children the best possible chances. david lubin elementary has impressed me since my daughter has been attending, and im happy to have her there for one more year until she goes to sutter middle school. when that happens, i’ll be sure to post a review for that too ;)
