This place had horrible service. It took 40 mins for us to get our food after we order and when we did get our food she got half of our orders wrong. She charged 2 of us for regular plates and handed us the smaller plates. After showing her our receipts she attempted to say that it went to the kitchen as the small order and it wasn’t her fault. Then gave us the same food in a bigger plate so she basically just took the wrong order and put it in the bigger container and added another scoop of rice. I am never coming back here againnnnn I can’t even rate this place cause its a negative number.

I do like L&L Hawaiian Barbecue! I went to this particular one about 45 minutes before it closed. I mention that because it seemed to take longer than most L&L’s for me to get my food after I ordered. Not sure that this is usually true at this location – a bunch of people seem to have arrived just before me, and only one after me. I think it was just the flow for the night – I just happened to get there at the wrong time. The woman working at the counter was friendly and took orders accurately. She was able to remember whose order was who and delivered each order to the correct table. The food matched the quality of other L&L locations – except that it was even hotter(temperature) there than usual. That was a plus in my book. I visited the bathroom in this location and found it clean and stocked.

BEST macaroni salad EVER! All the meat might taste the same, but the macaroni salad is one of a kind. I always have to get two scoop of macaroni salad when I come here.

I love L&L Hawaiian Barbecue restaurants. Their food is fatty, filling, and delicious. I just wish that the ones in this area had a student discount. Also, the last time I went, I wish I had been asked if I wanted a small or regular size for my combo! I forgot to specify, so they assumed I wanted a regular. Wamp lol

Color me dumb! I had an L&L Hawaiian BBQ2 blocks from my house for a couple years, but never went because I thought it was just BBQ(from the name, can you blame me?) and I’m not huge into BBQ. If I knew it was basically a Hawaiian take on asian food with grilled meat goodness, I would’ve gone to my local one before it closed! Oh well… So we went to L&L Hawaiian BBQ on Folsom Blvd after I learned they had Loco Moco, which I discovered and fell in love with at June’s Café. L&L has a good variety of reasonably-priced food… lots of rice, lots of noodles, lots of meat served over the previous two items.(No complaints here!) I got the Loco Moco and J got the beef rice bowl, lunch for two with drinks for around $ 15. The food was pretty good, and my meal came with rice and macaroni salad. Unfortunately my Loco Moco wasn’t all that and a bag of chips, but then everything can’t be as good as June’s, can it? ;) I’ll come back to L&L again to try more Hawaiian cuisine realness.

Came here because I was craving the Macaroni Salad from here. It was yummy. It usually comes on the side of any entrée. My boyfriend ordered the BBQ Mix(short ribs and chicken), it comes w/two scoops of rice and a scoop of the salad. It was yummy! Employees were nice. One of the girls need to speak up though, impossible to hear her.

Ok lunch, I guess it’s sort of Hawaiian food(I was born in Hawaii but don’t consider myself an expert on Hawaiian food). Does have decent teriyaki but I’m not a fan of the macaroni salad. The mac salad has a little too much mayo for my taste and I especially don’t like it basically on top of the hot foods.

Meh. I come here occasionally when I’m craving some Hawaiian food but their isn’t that great. I use to work at a Hawaiian BBQ so this place couldn’t compare to the quality of the food where I use to work at. Although, where I use to work, the food wasn’t anything amazing either. I usually come to Hawaiian BBQ restaurants for their Kalua Pork. YUMM I love my kalua with extra cabbage drenched in soy sauce and sriracha. Okay, maybe not drenched but it does taste good with those two condiments. The kalua pork at L&L isn’t bad. It’s satisfying but it doesn’t compare to other kalua pork that I have eaten. Besides their kalua pork, I thought their other barbecue food were okay. My boyfriend usually order the bbq mix which consisted of ribs, beef, and chicken and he seemed to like it. On the other hand, my sister said that the meat tasted like rotten meat. Aside from that, their food is really cheap. I usually get the bowls and that’s about $ 5 and it fills me up. Good for price and okay for food. 3 Stars

I really like the teriyaki and hawaiian potato salad here. It is somewhat inconsistent though on taste. Sometimes the flavor pops and sometimes it’s just meh. The amount of food for the price is a nice value.

Quick and nice service. The two ladies were a little hard to understand but its ok they know their stuff. The order was pretty quick for ordering a togo order. They had so many choices on top of their regular menu. Like teriyaki bowls and lumpia! YUM! Will be back for my island fix!

It was a lazy day in the office and I decided to take a little drive for lunch and try something new. My buddy told me about this place and I have never tried any L&L’s before. So I gave it a shot. Walked in and only 3 people eating with one person waiting for the to go order. This place is funny and kind of confusing because besides the normal menu up above they have posters and signs ALLOVERTHEPLACE about the food. I tried to read as much as I could since I have never been here, but the more confused I got. Looked like a class of 1st graders went crazy with a Sharpie. I kept it simple and ordered the combo plate called BBQ Mix($ 8). It comes with chicken, beef and pork along with some rice and mac salad. Got back to work and was excited to chow down. There wasn’t much beef or pork, but both tasted good. Couple pieces of chicken with the skin still on. i didnt care for the fact that there was a ¼ inch of grease at the bottom of the container. Maybe this is normal, but kind of nasty. Granted it didnt stop me from eating of course. Rice was fine, nothing special. But the mac salad I just couldn’t eat. For one thing it was WARM. Like not even at the bottom or in the center was cool/cold at all. I am only 5 minutes away and not sure the meat would of converted it to the warm status that fast, but perhaps. I just cant do warm mayo. Might as well chug a warm beer with it. Anyway, this place was decent but not sure I would ever go back.

The one star is for the macaroni salad, the chicken katsu barely stayed in my stomach long enough to get back to the office… all bad.

This location is heartbreaking to me because it is so close to me but super lame. I love L&L i really do. Last four times i have been here i have ordered something with Chicken on it and whether it be the Chicken Burger or Mix plate my Chicken was burnt. The cooking times they have posted under each item has never been true. I waited this last time 30 minutes and it was not busy by any means. Maybe they should spend less time cooking my food so it won’t be burnt. I hate that i am giving a not so great review but if i can help a fellow L&L lover to go to another location before tarnishing the L&L image i will.

One of the girls at work recommended L&L BBQ and after tasting what she had brought back I had to try it! If you’re having a mad carb craving this is the place to go. I ordered the chicken katsu meal which included a ton of breaded and deep fried chicken, rice and a little side of macaroni salad. The price is right at about $ 7 because you will definitely get two lunches out of this. Yum today and Yum tomorrow.

I love me some L&L, so I was pleasantly surprised(although late to the game) to find out that there has been one less than four miles away from work all this time. I finally made an effort to hit it up today for lunch. Uh, yeah. If you’ve never had L&L, please don’t go to this location for your first taste. The trademark L&L macaroni salad«taste» just wasn’t here. Don’t get me wrong, the mac salad wasn’t bad it just wasn’t «L&L» mac salad. The chicken katsu seemed fine and the staff are friendly enough, but turnaround time on food orders seemed even slow by typical L&L standards.(And this was with an empty restaurant.) One nice thing; this location also sells lumpia for $ 0.45/ea.

I really wish this place got a little more attention, then they would make more money and be able to pay for some kind of re-model. I mean, I know I’m not coming here to look at the walls, but it wouldn’t hurt for a touch up. I love the food though. I seriously crave it all the time, even though its in a really sketchy location. I almost always get the chicken katsu curry, because its so hard for me to deviate away something I love soooo much! But tonight I had a bite from the bbq beef saimin, and that was delicious. I might get it next time. And the little Asian lady who works at the counter is always so nice. I always try to tip her well, because some of the people who come in everyday are a little frightening.

Just when I thought it was a dream come true, I get stuck with probably one of the worse L&L’s I’ve ever been to. The only reason I am giving two stars is because the sweet old Asian lady had great service, which I could say the same about the food. I searched all around the Sacramento area in hopes of finding an L&L’s and sure enough it landed me here. The location should have already given it away but that didn’t stop me. I was desperately craving Kalua pork until I ate over here. This had to be about the driest pulled pork I have every tasted(and I was in the military eating all kinds of nasty junk). The Kalua pork here just tasted awful. I will most likely never eat here again(unless I’m desperate. again). I wish they would beef up the quality here and shoot for the stars because I really love L&L’s.

I work down the road from this place, so it is pretty convenient. And you know, I hate to admit this, but sometimes I really crave that too-mayonnaisey macaroni salad. I just had that as part of the chicken katsu lunch today actually. Their prices are very reasonable — and if I am craving saimin, which occasionally happens, it will set me back less than four bucks. Not bad. Why three stars? Maybe it’s because of the lack of fresh produce in its menu offerings. Most of it is salty & fattening protein and carbs. And, I dunno, this place just has this depressing vibe! Maybe they need to pipe in some Hawaiian music or something.
