Kaiser Permanente Dept of Psychiatry

My family member is currently attending groups here. This is all Kaiser has to offer after hospitalization; no one on one therapy; only groups. They seem to think that this is the best way and say «they have good results». Talking about how and why you got hospitalized isn’t as important as medication and providing marginal help. It is a hidden part of Kaiser which isn’t really transparent if you aren’t familiar with Kaiser’s policies and ways of dealing with mental health. Kaiser is inadequate in all respects of mental health, from getting appointments, to talking with «professional» people. Obviously it will be necessary to go outside the Kaiser system to get the help needed.

If you need serious mental health care, this is NOT the place to get it! They will not treat you as an individual. They force you into groups, with low level care.
I was extremely disappointed in how I was treated, and how my MDD, Anxiety and PTSD were talked about as if they were nothing. I was told that they will not treat anyone for PTSD «unless they have faced death.» That this is the Kaiser policy on PTSD. WTF?!
I was told that they don’t support individual therapy, that they don’t believe individual therapy works and that only sitting in groups, talking about «feeling good» would be of any help. Bull crap!
They do not have psychologists or psychiatrists at this facility.
This is NOT a quality mental health care facility, and I will not go back!
