Nice people willing to get you in and do a nice job with a gracious and humble service. Be dazzled by talk of friends, customers and the community! Reliable, Reasonable quality in just the time needed to meet and get to know one another. My barber was David and the walk was worth the cut!

I love this place and I have gone here for 4 years now. The guys are John and David. They are brothers and both are good. I recommend that you call for an appointment because they have an older clients that make reservations so sometimes walk-ins are an issue if an appt is supposed to happen then. Great place, old timey barber shop. Love it. 17 bucks for a cut.

Houston’s is the archetype of the American barber shop. It has everything you’d expect to find in a barber shop from a bygone era: hunting trophies, magazines for boys(and older boys), old-time barber tools, bottles of aftershaves and unguents and cremes made a century ago, and barbershop talk. It’s like the place I got haircuts when I was a kid – the only thing missing are the 25 cent bottles of Coke. David is my usual barber, and I’ve never had a bad cut. You can get a good haircut in a lot of places; there are a lot of new barbershops opening in Sacramento, all trying to get that authentic«old fashioned» vibe. But Houston’s is the REALTHING. I never make an appointment. When I get there, I hope there’s a wait, with someone in the chair, because sitting and waiting for a haircut, in a place like this, is a small but vital part of manhood. It’s masculine. If you get your hair styled by Cindee or Ashlee at one of countless salons across the country, absentmindedly thumbing through an old copy of Marie Claire, then there’s an unticked box on your Man Card. Go to Houston’s, get a haircut, and join the Man Club.

This is what a barber shop is all about. Dave and John are your classic old school barbers. They can sit you down, talk sports, hot rods, dirty jokes, and hunting. They never miss a beat. Everything is spot on, even down to the straight razor shave. I used to go to Anthony’s off of Broadway. But most of his guys just talk too much between everyone else. Here, you’re never having to worry about a straight cut. Walk in and walk out in 20 minutes or less and know that you’re set for the next 4 weeks.

This is my barber shop. David is my guy. These are brothers, john & David. Just call a bit ahead of time, no prob. $ 15 bucks. We talk Raiders, Kings, hot rods & girls!!! Mags are playboys. Very quick, 15 mins. Both guys are cool and do a good job. No wine or anything fancy, just old school, men’s men cuts. Don’t listen to the haters. Tell David Scott sent ya!

Ive gone in twice for a quick buzz cut and the place hasn’t been busy(zero to 1 people in the shop). Both times I was asked if i had an appointment which I didn’t and the guy with the pompadour goes back to his book and says well my 9 o’ clock is running late so I guess so. Mind you this is at about 9:20 or 9:30. I get the 10 minute hair cut and the 9 o’ clock appointment is still missing. It just seems weird. I guess if it happens a third time I’ll know I’m being played around with. The hair cut is good though and it grows out even. It seems a bit pricey for a buzz cut but people have bills to pay.

This barbershop does men, women, and children, there are 2 barbers and you generally need to make an appointment, but I was able to walk-in. The hair cut I got was good, I wanted it a little shorter and he said no problem and trimmed a little more off. I didn’t get the back of my neck shaved with the straight razor, which I big fan of. The other barber did it for his client, I don’t know their names so I can’t tell you which one does that. They’ve decorated with old bottles, antique barber tools, taxidermy(deer and birds), and hunting photos. I don’t know what kind of magazines they have. I didn’t ask what classic or fashion hairstyling means. Cost is $ 15 for a man’s haircut.
