I came to the pool hall so my boyfriend and his buddy can play a couple games. I ordered a pitcher so I can have a drink while they played. My current ID got stolen with my wallet closer to Christmas so I showed them my older one. She couldn’t take it because of the expiration, which is fine, I understand company policy. My boyfriend came up to just get his beer. We’re both in our 30s. She told him if I take a sip we’ll all get kicked out and that she’ll be coming over to check on us routinely to make sure I don’t drink. It made us feel like we were kids. I mean why would I try to sneak sips of my boyfriends beer as if I was an underage kid? They wanted a man’s ID with us as well, who’s 65 years old I ordered a sandwich and ordered a side of ranch and blue cheese. I asked if I can trade in my blue cheese please for ranch because I didn’t like the way it tasted. I was very nice. They didn’t say a word or look at me and rolled their eyes and tossed it on the table. I work in customer service as well what I would have done was say«Sure here you go». It’s a nice place to play pool but if you want to order to order something I got from my experience here just rude staff. Maybe they were having a bad day.

I agree with Debbie C. This billiards place is a nice place to come and play pool, or shoot darts. The staff here is friendly and the customer service is great. Several A.P.A(American Pool Association) leagues are played here for both 8-ball and 9-ball and are run professionally with great customer service. If you are not in an A.P.A. League and like/love to play pool, you are missing out. «Billiards M» is better known as «Popeye Doyle» and is better left to being banned from any pool place. He insulted me and started an argument with me saying he was joking when he clearly was not. He also had the audacity of not apologizing. This man is clearly a waste of an oxygen breather. I have reported him to A.P.A and I hope he is permanently banned. He is the only person to cause any trouble at Hard Times since I have been going there, 2-years now.

Hard Times is an amazing venue with great staff who have customer service nailed. The tournaments are ran professionally and with courtesy towards all who want to play. They host several nights of APA league play. Thank you Hard Times! The APA is run people who care about the league and the players in it. It truly is about having fun meeting people and learning and playing pool. Billiards M wrote a bashing review which is unfounded. What he doesn’t mention in his anonymous review is the bridges he burned, the people he offended or the complete disregard for his fellow humans. His body shaming comments are despicable and a disgusting show of his ignorance and hatred of others. He can’t talk to anyone without insulting them and then wants a pass because he’s old and in his words that’s just the way he was raised. Billiards M puts everyone down and makes inappropriate comments on a regular basis. Billiards M is so vile a human being he should be sedated in a old folks home. I pity your mail order bride for having to put up with you as you are the most disgusting human I’ve ever run across. She deserves better than an ignorant waste of human flesh that you are. May you be as miserable the rest of your life for how vile you’ve been to others.

Great place. Reasonable prices for food and beer. It does get packed on the weekends but clears out pretty quickly.

Pros– great pool hall for socializing, even better for serious players; equipment is always in great condition, tournament room available with regulation tables. Great staff, great little beer bar and good bar food at fair prices. Con– music is played off of a pay per song system. If no one pays for music, there simply is no music

Best pool hall around! I love how it turns to 10+ after 10pm to keep the kids out. During the day its an amazing place to take your lunch not so many people are there. Once about 3pm hits its starts to fill up and is usually full by 8. All the waitresses are family oriented and make you feel at home. Most people that go here are respectful. They have all the greatest hits in the juke box. Which is a bonus. The food is also great for a pool hall. And the tables are always kept in tip top shape :) very clean all around as well

I havent been here in over 4 years i guess they took out the little arcade area and kept like 3 gaming machines now. Its always packed around 9−11pm but they start to slowly leave. The food here is a little above average and the price is reasonable you could get a combo with onion rings and fries and a soda for around $ 6 – 7. I tried the mini hotdogs and the burger it was bomb. A pitcher of draft is about $ 12 depending on what you order.(I got blue moon) its a chill place to catchup and shoot some pool. And its super safe cause its next to a police station lol!

Just a location with a bunch of pool tables, not too much more, not much less. Looking to enjoy the game of pool w/an okay drink or two? This would be a good place to do it.

Usually come here on a Monday; ladies play FREE! Vibe is great! I love how you choose what music to be played on the music machine box. Four star for the food, it was OK.

Love this family friendly pool hall. After 8pm it turns into 18+ only though. Beer is good and staff is friendly. The games are fun too. The music that plays isn’t my taste, but there’s a jukebox so you can pay for something other than rap and hip hop. I come here quite often with a bunch of different friends. It’s always fun for everyone! Hint: Bring in a movie ticket stub from Century 16 Theaters and you get an hour free!

I was tired of shooting pool at the regular bro bars in Sacramento. I heard about Hard Times and I made the trek to see it. I am glad that I did. Every table is perfect, the vibe screams«pool hall», and people are there to have a good time. You don’t have the assholes leaving their beer on the tables, jacked up cues, or damaged tables. This is pool. They also have a modern jukebox. I have been here 3 times in as many days and will continue to return.

For anyone that wants an experience to play on some challenging tables tourney style this is the place to be. Great environment, people are super friendly. Perfect for gathering, birthdays, or a date night and or out with the boys. The food and beverages are not bad either if you get hungry. When tournaments are around, you never know when you might run into a few pool celebrities too. I have had a chance to meet with Rodney’ The Rocket’ Morris, who is super cool, humble, and way down to earth. Whenever I’m up this way in the state capital, I always find some time to get to this place even for a quick game with my friend. So check it out. So won’t be disappointed.

I seriously love this place! It’s inexpensive and pay per hour $ 9 and on Wednesday its college day(half off) It gets packed, shitty country music always playing but they have a music player thingy which has the newest music! Food here is great and pretty cheap. The only thing I don’t like is one girl that works here. She is extremely rude, has a sour attitude, not only me but to mostly everyone. She is bartender and has long hair in a braid. All the other staff members are really friendly. Sara, she cooks occasionally and bartends anyways she’s my favorite :) superrrrr niceeeee:)

As an avid billiards player, this is an amazing pool room with great tables and staff. The environment is nice; they have a tournament room in the back for serious players like me — 9 foot gold crowns, tight tight pockets by Dominguez and smooth rails/cloth. Usually quiet during the day and many tournament during the week and weekends. If you want to improve your game, this is the place to be. The general area has plenty of tables and is suited for the casual players and friend hangouts. Usually loud when it gets busy due to alcohol(beer on tap) and music. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The food is alright if you just want a quick bite so you can go back to business. I am proud to call this place my home room.

One of the employees came up to me and randomly told me this disgusting joke about raping and mutilating Helen Keller. I think he was trying to hit on me or something. I was so horrified I didn’t even know what to say!!! This place is disgusting, I will never go here again.

Hard Times Sacramento is well known throughout California. While there’s no longer a direct connection with the Hard Times in Southern California(Bellflower) — there’s a historical connection, and no shortage of friendships between the two staffs. Hard Times is the largest pool hall in Sacramento with over 30 tables and usually the one that attracts the attention of the big name players that wander through town. The equipment is very well maintained. The majority of tables are crowns or gold crowns. All of the tables in the tournament room and some of the tables on the main floor have tight pockets. If you want tight pockets(or not), be sure to ask where they are. The food is good, bar serves beer/wine, friendly staff all adds up to a good experience!

Names got called quick, didn’t wait long for a table. Friendly workers. Security should really check restrooms, people getting high. Don’t forget to ask for a military discount before you ask for a table(before you get on the waiting list) they say«they have signs everywhere but I couldn’t find one)
