This place smells like rotten cheese, everything on the shelves is expired and the ice cream tastes like sour milk.

This review is mainly for the deli. I’m one of those people who is conflicted because I never bring lunch to work, but I also hate having to spend $$$ on lunch. This little gem solves both fronts. In less than 5 minutes and for less than $ 5 you can have a delicious and well made sandwich — there are a ton of options. Of course you could go to a place like speciality’s and have«craft» sandwiches, for double the price, but I find this place to be comparable as far as taste goes. The staff is also super friendly. Keep it up!

I redact my previous review where I gave them 3 stars, and I hereby up it to 5. It took me until today, when I was upset to see that someone had broken into this store and stole from them over the weekend, to realize how much I love this place and the people that work here. There’s a boarded up broken window in the door, and a couple hastily collected food items gone, but other than that no one was hurt. Thankfully! Other Reasons this place deserves an updated review: –This place is truly a treasure trove of random goodies, whether pre-packaged, frozen, or made fresh. –Staff is completely redoing the frozen section to make sure that it is sanitary for customers after the aforementioned break in, possibly conducted by starving urban bears with a taste for tearing apart freezers and stealing frozen food items. –New help has recently been hired to make things go smoother, especially during busy mornings and lunch hours. –Now with MOARICECREAM –Whenever I can’t reach an item, someone tall is around to help. And my favorite: –Watching daytime tv with my favorite deli guys on my lunch break. You can’t beat that.

The place is fine. Pretty convenient for a store of its nature. However, I just can’t get over how terrible the employees are. Not all of them, just around 93% of them. Extremely rude. I will only go in there in an emergency. Why do these convenient store workers make it seem like you are inconveniencing them by giving them business?

So mostly a review of the back deli. When I realized I could get out of here with a Sandwich and Soda for under $ 5 and it’s located downtown… it was an instant win. Most of the staff is very friendly(especially around lunch hour), though if you come early or late the owners a little bored with it and just kind of going through the motions. :/ I’ve bought an Ice Cream Cone here and felt like they jipped me so I’d recommend Rite-Aid right up the street. They have an awesome selection in the store front and I really appreciate they open early and close late… not just 8 – 5!

I honestly come here if I need to, since it’s near my work. I used to come here for their soup, but after trying other places, this isn’t worth it. They’re prices are a bit too much. If Safeway was closer, I would totally go there instead! Some of their items are expired too, so please check the expiration dates before purchasing. Also, when they have a sale item, for example 2/$ 4, take it! In normal stores, if you buy one, they’ll charge $ 2. However, this place charges at its retail price, which is WAY too much. Even if you don’t need the 2 or 10 items, get all those because paying for it individually is SO not worth it! This is just the grocery part. The deli part is a tiny bit better, but not by much. Their food was okay tasting back then. Then again, I wasn’t exposed to other foods around the area yet. My «favorite» soup would be the clam chowder. However, now it’s hella salty and WAY too thick for my taste. Their sandwiches are boring. I usually get tuna at Subway or Togo’s, and it’s pretty good. Here, it was below my standards. The bread wasn’t toasty enough. The food preparer actually cut through to the other side of the bread, so the fillings fell out while I was eating it. The tuna was plain and watered down. And, they gave me minimal veggies. The guy who rung me was probably new because he didn’t know how to key in the lunch special. AND, he forgot my spoon and napkin! I want the old people back! They knew how to do things correctly! Like I said, I only come here when I’m desperate. I’d rather spend x more money elsewhere. The staff is nice, but that’s pretty much the only thing I like about this store.

As many have stated before me, the service is questionable at best. The store operates on a low payroll, leaving it understaffed. The idea of getting in and out quick is not here. There are no alcohol sales, yes, that includes no beer and wine. In response to the perceived rudeness of the staff, some of the owner/operators are immigrants from one of the former Soviet Republics(not sure which country). With that said, a customer would have to understand the cynical sense of humor associated with the culture and it would not come off as so rude. Deli sandwiches are average. They have an assortment of sundry items available.

Today I got 2 meals from the General Store. The breakfast sandwich is sooooo good. And just about every Friday for the last month or so I’ve been getting the grilled vegetarian burrito for lunch. Carlos is a master at making some of the hugest burritos I’ve ever seen. And he always makes me smile!

It’s a real simple store that sells snacks and medicine with a sandwich shop in the back. Warning: The sandwiches are questionable, don’t expect the ingredients to be fresh. Though the prices for everything here are way overpriced. $ 2 for one banana? Soda for $ 3?

Accidently left my breakfast at home and needed something to hold me over until lunch. I have passed this store/deli multiple times, and never realized that there was an actual deli in the back(from the outside it looks like a typical convenience store). However, an old co-worker of mine mentioned that the deli was amazing and reasonably priced. Upon entering the deli, I was greeted by a very charismatic gentleman named Carlos. With hesitation, I decided to give their Croissant breakfast sandwich a try. I say«with hesitation», because in the past I have been to breakfast spots that serve breakfast croissants that are the equivalent of a frozen Jimmy Dean croissant. Thankfully, that was not the case. My croissant was fresh, toasted, and paired with a slice of pepper jack cheese, and a sausage patty… all for $ 3. A majority of the meals offered here are sandwich based. Therefore, I would highly recommend this place over the Subway(who eats Subway anyways?!) that is a couple of blocks away. I’ll be back!

Not your typical deli they have every beverage known to man. The sandwiches and salads are very good. This place also has a decent grocery selection and a coffee bar.

The convenience to this store from my work is great. Their deli selection is very good — with lots of options for sandwiches(regular, wraps, flatbread), soups(usually 2 or 3 options), and some lovely salads. I make a visit there every morning to get my coffee — which is only $ 1 when I bring my own cup!!! Can’t beat that. Favorite reason to take a trip to the General Store, however, is to see Carlos for my daily cup-o-joe. What a professional and fun person to deal with on my «way too early» mornings.

customer service was pushy and rude today! If you order a blt make sure you ask them to warm up the bacon or else it’s served cold. Bake potato chowder is baked potato soup with no bacon and a few potatoes, otherwise it’s all broth and the broth is rather bland. I’m not a salt freak but even I had to add three packets of salt. Te crackers were stale and I was only given one napkin. Why am I giving them a star you ask because it’s cheap $ 5.49 for sandwich and soup and it’s close. But I think I’ll be trying another deli soon.

If you have money to blow and care few of spending extra money that you have lying around, feel free to shop here. The Deli is a mediocre place and the sandwiches are made with terrible and extremely cheap bread. Watch out for when you bring your items to be ringed up at the register. I have heard multiple people claiming that they have been overcharged multiple times while shopping here. They will slap on an extra dollar or two when they can, especially when you have a large amount of items. Make sure you ask for a receipt when you finish paying the total. Don’t ask for a receipt before, only after paying and receiving your change because if they did in fact overcharge you, you’ll see it on the receipt.

Two stars for convenience, zero for the quality and consistence. Items that are constantly out of stock: Camel Filter 99’s, Monster Ultra Zero, several varieties of chips. The kicker and reason I will no longer shop here is they raised the price of their salad and made the size smaller. I know this is downtown but $ 5.99 for two cups of spinach, two slices of hot house tomato, one hard boiled egg, and four slices of frozen(I assume given the slime factor) cucumber is a little absurd.

WOW! a previous reviewer called this a hole in the wall… well it’s a hole in the wall in an upscale building! It is surprisingly big with plenty of snack and beverage options. I bought a turkey sandwich and added avocado(REAL sliced not mush like subway). The 6in sandwich was $ 3.99 plus .75 for avocado and i got chips and drink for $ 1.50. Best part was that as I was carrying the white lunch bag back to the office I felt like I was in elementary school again! Anyways, the sandwich was delicious. It had a fresh taste, unlike the distinictive all-knowing taste of subway. The staff was a well-oiled machine and super fast! There were 5 people before me, but was placing an order in no time. Looking forward to coming again!

It’s a great place if you need a snack and work on Capitol Mall. They even have fresh produce as well as every type of chip imaginable. They have made to order sandwiches in the back which are cheaper than Subway. Oh and of course, there’s an Icee machine… perfect for those days when it’s 100 degrees out.

Cheap sandwiches made quickly… nice option for lunch. I like the wide variety of snacks… if I need a chocolate fix, I know I’ll be going here(plus, it gets me outta the office for a nice little walk!).
