Gary Thiry Gunsmith

Waist of time calling this man. In less than 10 seconds he talked down to me and yelled over the phone. I won’t be taking my business there and I hope you will do the same.

My first and only experience with Gary. I brought in my Beretta 92 to have a front night sight installed. This is one of the night sights that drapes over the entire front sight. I needed to drill two holes and install it with roll pins. When I dropped it off I told Gary that I have a drill press, drill press vise etc, I just didn’t want to spend the $ 20 on a milling bit that I would only use once, & that as long as he could drill the two holes at a reasonable price I would have him do it. He agreed.
A few days later he calls me to tell me it’s ready. I stop by to pick it up, he then tells me it will be $ 50. I was stunned and reminded him that I told him before dropping it off that I could spend $ 20 on a bit to do it myself. I also reminded him that I stated a «reasonable» cost. His reply was «well you have to know where to drill the holes» I just shook my head and asked if he was going to hold firm on his price for 10 minutes or less worth of work. He said yes, so I paid him and have never returned.

I brought my S&W Model 59 in to get the safety replaced. He told my that it would take 4 weeks to fix. I called in 4 weeks and was told that he had forgot to call S&W to order the part. I contacted him again in 2 weeks. He told me he tried to order the part but S&W was on vacation and it would be a while to order it. I just picked my gun up. I don’t know if he would ever finish it. Sorry I could not give a better report.
Here is an update. I ordered the part myself for $ 60. When it came in I installed it and my gun works great. Wish he could have done that.
