This place is awful! You basically pay $ 8 for filler items like rice, lettuce or noodles. Even the soup was bad. The first time I went I ordered a salad with chicken, and there was about 3 cups of lettuce, hardly any of my «unlimited» items, about 5 cubes of the $ 2 chicken I paid for, and about 3 cubes of avocado that I paid extra for as well. What a rip off. The second time I went I ordered soup. I was hesitant to go back, but I figured how can anyone screw up soup? So I ordered chicken broth soup with noodles and veggies. Unbelievably disappointed again! There was about a pound(no joke) of noodles, hardly any of my unlimited items again, and by the time I got back to my desk(a 2 block walk) the noodles had absorbed all of the broth leaving even more disgusting noodles. If you want a good place to eat where you pick your own items. Go to jack’s, at least there you get what you pay for and can watch them cook your food.

This reminds of a different version of Chipotle. Wraps, bowls, salads and soups. You can either order from the menu or create a custom order with the ingredients you choose. They also offer frozen yogurt for dessert and they have beer and wine, which seems odd because who drinks at lunch and only being open until 7:00 pm, they can’t really be doing much evening business. As to the food, it is OK. Nothing really special, but decent for a quick lunch and since the Calpers Cafeteria closes at 1:30, this is one of very few options for lunch in the area. I also like the foosball table and the little seating area with the flatscreen TV where they are currently working their way through the Top 100 movies as ranked by AFI.

The idea is great with quality ingredients, but with very poor execution of flavor. Although this might be the problem with warm wraps. Generally with cheeses and certain vegetables and sauces, it is best to have them in an unadulterated form. Warming the ingredients creates a gelatinous mess with muddled flavor. Next time I’ll try a cold wrap to ensure the subtleties of flavor remain intact. On further review, Freshii is much better when it is not so fresh. Reheated wraps are pretty darn good.

Super expensive, lacks real flavor, small portions, raw food, takes very long to make. I got a custom rice bowl with brown rice, steak, a bunch of veggies and lemongrass. Sounds good right? I got it back with the rice cooked in the sauce but nothing else. Everything is raw veggies(not bad if I wasn’t going for an asian dish). They totally forgot my steak and it took over 15 minutes to get my food to go. By the time I got to my office and discovered they forgot my steak, it was too late. My lunch hour was just about over and I was out $ 10. I probably will not go back here. I tried it 3 times but this is probably the last time.

I just started working near Freshii and since it’s one of the few options nearby, I decided to try it out. This was going against the advice of my coworkers though. Freshii looks like a nice place and it has a clean setup. But the food is just so bland! I’ve now eaten there a few times just to try different options, but I think I’ve had enough bad experiences. My biggest complaint is that anything with rice in it turns out to be all rice. I got a wrap and when I picked it up it had a ton of heft to it. I was looking forward to biting into it, but when I did, all I got was a mouthful of gooey rice, and then another, and then another. After about a third of the wrap, I tossed it. I’m all for healthy brown rice, but not when it makes up 95% of my lunch. Like others have stated, Freshii is a good idea, with poor execution.

First time, last time. I got a card for one free purchase from a manager at their other Freshii location, but it was not accepted here. The card did not say anything about not being able to use it elsewhere. After I made my order, the manager at this location denied the card for the free purchase. He didn’t even have the nerve to come out and tell me, but sent one of his cashier to do so. Of course I paid for the item anyways, but everything seem wrong in this situation at a customer service standpoint. I think their pick and choose menu is so over priced. The chicken that I paid for in my salad was not worth it. Though their menu said«Unlimited» selection on one part, that’s up to the person who makes your order. The size will come out to be the same as all the other salad that they make. Seems better reading the menu than ordering it. Ever heard of Fresh Choice? Now that is a place you want to go to if you are a healthy eater. Much wider selection of salad items, all you can eat, plus many more and the price is most likely less than Shitshii.

i never heard of this place, so i didn’t have any expectations we went here for dinner which honestly prob wasn’t the best idea. this is really is a lunch spot. they had a live music delay which was nice if your in the mood for that sort of thing but tonight it just ended up annoying the hell outta me. the service was nice… and by service i mean they took my order and brought it out good for a lunch spot. I found it to be a bit pricey — i mean its great they are all green and use fresh ingredients but they kinda skimped on the avocado and the meat. but i guess its a «healthy portion» right., i get that but it was drowned in sauce so whatever. 13 dollar steak wrap — i could see like seven bucks tops. all in all — i love the idea. if this place was near my work — i’d go here maybe not every day — but its an option. for dinner — nope.

I love the concept. Fresh everything. Like a farmers’ market where you can grab the food and just consume it. Good stuff. Fiesta Grilled Wrap: carb-o-licious! It’s a mass of rice with small amounts of black beans, tomatoes, avocado. You will need to hunt for the chicken(it’s flavorful). I barely ate half of it. The meal is a heavy one, so be prepared for the food coma. Asian Noodle Bowl: OK. Spicy. Well, duh, the peanut sauce is called Spicy Peanut! Ha! You get it in a Chinese take-out box. Ordering a custom dish can be menacing, especially when I’m hungry. I came here with an open mind being that we turned the corner and the patio area was ridiculously inviting. They have the entire corner! Prices are decent if you order from the house menu. Otherwise, the protein is going to jack up the bill to unlimited amounts. My expectations overall was pretty high. I was hoping for more flavor given the fresh ingredients. I liked the experience enough and will be back. UPDATE: Visit #2 the next day… For yogurt. Saw they serve non-dairy fro-yo. With fresh fruits, can’t go wrong. Other flavors were available. DELICIOUS! Aside from the dispenser not working because the fro-yo was too frozen, the flavors offered were worth the visit. I put all the flavors in my cup wit fruit toppings. The fro-yo was THE taste of summer, for me. It’s awesome! I just love the atmosphere. Feels like home. Took a walk around the block afterward. Nice time, lovely Sunday. Freshii food gets 3 stars. Fro-yo gets 4. I’m giving the whole thing a 4. UPDATEAGAIN: 8÷3÷2011 @ 8:10pm. We came for the fro-yo. The tables were all packed up, the inside of the restaurant was also being packed up. As if they were 5 minutes to closing. After numerous visits since discovering this place, I find more cons with each visit. Ordered the teriyaki bowl. Barely any chicken. 3 pieces of broccoli. At 8:35pm, got up to get some fro-yo. The machines were being serviced/closed up, leaving 2 flavors for consumption. The toppings were also closed(container lids already on… ALLOFTHEM). I had to remove the lids and find a spoon to get toppings. Plus, they packed up the spoons, too! At this point… I give 2 stars. I want to give it more, but there’s not enough pros to do so.

Dang it, Freshii. I’m really pulling for you here. I’m in love, LOVE with the idea of you. There are so many fresh, delicious, healthy-sounding options for me here, and it’s really a vegetarian’s paradise. You’ve got every vegetable under the sun, a variety of juices and teas, and even Yogurt A GoGo has partnered with you to serve up some delicious desserts. Unfortunately, you’ve kind of failed to step it up on the flavor front. I take partial responsibility for two of those times since I chose to construct my own salad, but on the other hand, I wasn’t doing anything too controversial there. Some innocent fruits and veggies(tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, chickpeas, cucumbers, strawberries) on the Freshii salad mix. All of the ingredients were fresh. But you know, the salad dressings just aren’t particularly tasty– the lemongrass is wonderful in theory but probably would have worked better on some uncomplicated spinach and protein rather than a variety of veggies, while the cucumber dill I chose for my salad tonight was just too bland. Again, the pairing was my choosing, but I was underwhelmed by my salads both times when I’m normally pretty easy to satisfy in that arena. And let’s talk about the rice bowl. I ordered one of the chef’s creations, less the chicken. Goat’s cheese, brown rice, red bell peppers, olive oil, balsamic vinegar. It sounds yummy! I don’t get it! Why isn’t it yummy in my mouth?!? So sad. The cookies are delicious, though, and the employees are nice. And Freshiii really hasn’t done anything wrong, which I think is why I and practically everyone I know keep going back. We want to love it. And we hold out hope that we will.

My second experience here was far better than the first. I came on a lunch with a client and both of us were impressed with the speedy improvements in service and streamlining our orders. I had a major beef with the amount of plastic waste I perceived on my first visit. But, after being contacted directly by the owner(an impressive commitment to customer service), I researched their green mission statement and left convinced that my original perception was unfounded. Freshii is on its way up! Tip: Order online!

I really like Freshii. It is a little overwhelming, at first, trying to figure out how to order, how it works, etc. Once that is under control, it’s easy. I love the steak wrap — delicious and I’m not even a fan of brown rice. The staff and managers(owners?) are friendly and helpful, and lunchtime service is normally very quick. The outside patio is lovely, and it’s a really nice walk from my office. A group of co-workers went there last week for lunch and the wait was unusually long for my food and another friend’s meal(the other orders were received). We checked on the progress and were told that there was a problem with the rice — we’d have to re-order. I was not happy about having to re-order and to wait again, BUT the manager was very professional and gave me and my friend a card with 8 stamps(for a free meal). That made me a little more happy. They also have the frozen yogurt sample containers out — you don’t have to ask for them. Goooood frozen yogurt!

Ah so much potential but so far some problems. The potential is in the fresh ingredients and the option to add and edit out just about anything. They have wraps, salads, soups and bowls which you can customize to your liking based upon a long list of ingredients. They also have some menu options like the spicy noodle bowl when you’re not feeling creative. That was me and I liked it. I would have added more dressing/sauce to the help unstick the rice noodles but the spicy sauce was a bit too spicy for that. Pretty good though. The wraps are a hit, too.
The real issue is in the ordering. I’m all for variety. I hate the two-party system. However, too many options and too much«hey look at us being totally wacky and different» makes me impatient. When you combine that with hungry you get a dangerous beast. Freshii has this lame clipboard system where you have to take your own order. It’s time-consuming and they always end up scratching out and rewriting what I wrote. I would much prefer seeing the menu boards right above or behind the cashier, telling them what I would like to eat, they plug it into their system. Boom. Lunch is served. Another mind-boggler is how they charge for items. For example, the oatmeal comes with two free toppings but after that they charge you. So if you want bananas, strawberries and brown sugar, you’re paying extra. For me, brown sugar isn’t really on the same playing field as fruit and I don’t think brown sugar, cinnamon or honey should be an extra charge. Really my 2 stars is more 2.5ish. I’m going to give them a few more shots because they’re right next to the awesome Chocolate Fish and because Freshii’s got Yogurt A Go Go frozen yogurt. For now, they’re on my «needs improvement» list. I really really hope they ditch the clipboards.

Caution photos displayed above are actual size. Overall, a very poor value for your money. Step inside the CalPERS cafeteria next door to improve your chance of being filled up(although the quality of the food is a bit lower — you make the call). I’ve eaten there twice now. First was a steak lunch wrap. It’s about half the size of a chipotle burrito and about as expensive. The meat is low quality and full of grissle. I walked away hungry and disappointed about how much less money I now had. Then, in a bind, I ordered a breakfast wrap one morning. When I was handed the breakfast wrap about the size of a nearly empty wallet, I found myself saying, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Service was very slow both times and the 10 minutes it took to make the mini breakfast wrap was a little much. When I expressed displeasure about the time it was taking, the manager(who had missed the first 7 minutes of my wait) decided the right response was, «It’s on the grill», instead of offering an apology for the delay. Let me add that I was the only customer in the place at 10:15am, so there really wasn’t a good reason for the delay — I can’t imagine what the wait would be at prime time. The lunch wait was similar at 1:30pm. Not really sure why the process is so slow. Perhaps it will get better. As convenient as it is to my work, I will not be going back(even when they start serving beer & wine, which I’m thinking will be about $ 5-$ 10/drink).

It’s not the quickest lunch, UNLESSYOUORDERONLINE! This place is a cafeteria on vegan steroids. I just ordered a bacon, egg white, tomate, cheese and spinach wrap all toasty warm in a wheat tortilla for around $ 3! It’s delicious, filling, cheap and healthy, PLUS I can order it online first( ), which makes it that much easier. In this tech-savvy world, I love that I can go online to order a salad, soup, bowl of noodles or wrap that’s exactly what I want, when I want, and for a price I can stomach. Not to mention, they provide Yogurt-A-Go-Go frozen yogurt and toppings(not so sure that’s a good thing for my diet)!! This leaves me plenty of time to ride my bike down there, pick it up, and spend the extra time I would have wasted trying to decide while in line to eat my delicious, healthy lunch under the orange blossoms in Capitol Park. (PLUSTHEYHAVEREALCOKE! No corn syrup fakey stuff)

C’mon guys, don’t you think you’re being a little rough on Freshii? They just started out and the manager is out on the floor practically begging you to enjoy their food. Throw them some few constructive advice and maybe they’ll switch things up. So, with that, three stars. Mediocre. Not that great, but good enough. When you order, it’s exactly what you expect, so why be surprised if that’s what you get? Pick from rice/noodle/lettuce, a protein, and some sauce or dressing. Done and done. Easy enough. Nothing to say about that. Sadly, the boringness of Freshii has resulted in a boring review. On a high note though, this has become a sweet place for me to steal a set of chopsticks when I’m in a pinch(lol, no pun intended).

Yummers! Nice variety of items from which to choose. And, if you’re as calorie-conscious as my hubby, you will LOVE that they have the calorie counts for everything so you know how much your caloric intake is. Nice! Also, love the yogurt bar…44 cents per ounce isn’t bad, and the six different flavors make for quite the selection once you add in all the toppings you desire. Nice!

Let me start by saying, I’d like to try Freshii again, and will update this review as needed. Let me conclude by saying, that the with a name like Freshii, I expected A LOT more veggies in a $ 7 rice bowl than a 1 to 20 veggie-to-rice ratio.

I am thrilled to have a new place to eat in what has been a restaurant dead zone for years. This Freshii is clean, bright, and inviting with friendly staff. Regarding the comments on bland food from others, the first thing you need to understand about Freshii is how to change it up. If you are a first time visitor, you will be overwhelmed by all the choices. Stick to their selections at first til you get an idea. For instance, my first time I had the Warrior Chicken Bowl. I got it as is and thought it was good, but could have used some more zing. Well you can change out any items you want. So next time I order it, I’ll ask for the Asian sesame or spicy peanut instead of the ranch it comes with. I had the same concern another visit when I selected the Fiesta Salad. It comes again with the ranch, but I’m used to having a Southwestern style salad with a southwestern ranch. I was a bit worried. But it turns out it was OK because the Cajun chicken was the spicy element to the salad. It all balanced out. The key to Freshii is to tailor it to how you like it. Once you understand the menu, then you can tweak it as you like. It’s only been 1 week — give them a break.

I really wanted to like Freshii. The concept of fresh, healthy alternatives for eating out is exactly what I have been looking for. I give them one star for the potential, and because I can’t give them no stars. That is where it ends for me. Let me add that I tried the Folsom location first and did not write a review. I decided to give them another try at their new location. This was exactly the same experience for me, maybe worse. At the Folsom location I tried a Buffalo Chicken wrap at lunch. First of all there was nothing Buffalo about it. It was extremely bland and just not good. I didn’t even finish half of it I disliked it so much. Now that the newest Sacramento location is open, and very conveniently located, I decided to give them another try at breakfast. I tried the Monterey Chicken Wrap. My initial reaction when I got the order, that took too long to make, was that it was COLD. I did not expect a breakfast wrap with cheese to be served cold! I want something warm in the morning… maybe I should have gone with the oatmeal. The bigger problem is how the wrap tasted. It was horrible. The meat did not taste like it was freshly cooked. The consistency of the shredded cheese, unmelted was just wrong. The lack of overall flavor was just disappointing. I don’t think I even tasted a hint of dijonnaise which it listed on the item description. Again, I could not bring myself to finish the over-priced, small item. I can’t imaging that I will ever go back unless I am just way to forgiving and forgetful. Maybe for yogurt or a salad without meat? After waiting for something to open up in that location for such a long time, I wish it was a Chipotle instead.
