I went on a night bike ride to «chase» the super moon. This moon appears to be much larger and brighter than usual because it is at it closest point to the earth on its orbital path, hence the name, «Super Moon.». The super moon’s sultry appearance is quite breathtaking. I started with my ride at Garcia Bend at dusk as I wanted to relish in her incredible splendor from the moment she began to rise in the south eastern sky. I especially loved the bright reflection of the moon on the Sacramento River. It looked like honey as it glistened on a plate of glass. I stopped every once in a while, in an attempt to capture this beautiful display of mother nature by taking pics with my lame ass camera phone. But quite honestly, pictures or words pale in comparison to seeing it live. The super moon had serenaded my soul… pulling me along the bike path. After riding for a while I decided to pull over and realized that I was at Conlin Field in Freeport! I hadn’t noticed how late it was and how far I had ridden. The super moon’s illumination of the bike path was amazing and I had lost track of time. I turned around and headed home. The super moon will be slightly less intense for the next 2 — 3 days. So if you get the chance to find a cozy quiet and perhaps«romantic» spot to enjoy this serene event please do. I recommend any spot along the Sacramento or American River.

A nice little field to enjoy baseball /Tball game. They have a wonderful snack bar on the weekends. There is benches with shade and also places in the sunshine for the one’s of you that want a tan! Parking is a bit of a problem so get there early!
