This business owner states that she gives money to non profits, however this is not the case. I let her know that I wanted my money/donation to go to a specific organization that she had listed. Upon checking with that organization if they had received any of the money they stated that they had never received a penny from her. Thinking that was odd I contacted the other non profits that she had listed and they expressed a similar scenario, which was no money received from Chic for Change. False advertisement to entice someone to shop there while the non profits are receiving no benefit from the relationship.

First time coming in here today, everything but furniture was half off. i walked out of there with two framed pieces of art, and an awesome oven mit for 4.99. its not a huge place like thrift town for example, but its cool.

Wow! SO not what I thought it would be… I say that because, upon my entering, fashionably dressed owner Tesh Whipple(how can that NOT be a cool name) asked me just that. They have 6800 sq feet of stuff!!! Clothes, furniture, bikes, even a coming coffee stand. They also do an open mike night on Wednesdays. Have some talent? Come on out — bring your friends. Speaking of that… that’s what I see in here now people coming in in groups to peruse and buy. Over my right shoulder hangs a sign on the wall that warns: «Beware Pockets and Loose Women.» Indeed. Maroon 5 playing in the background underscores Chic for Change’s place among the«cool places to be» in Sacramento. Get here!

4-stars for purpose: shoppers designate which local charities get 20% of the purchase — Sacramento Court Appointed Special Advocates(help foster kids /youth); Sacramento Area Emergency Housing Center(help homeless) or Wildlife Care Association. 3-stars for actual merchandise selection and organization. Hey, it’s progressively getting better as far as I’ve read on Unilocal!I’ll give ‘em that credit! Blink or you’ll miss it. This thrift boutique is just east of the El Camino-Fulton intersection. If you’ve arrived at Hancock Fabrics & Country Waffles, you’ve passed it. Opened since Jan. 2011 the store collects donated clothing, books, furniture, etc. and resells them at bargain prices. The CD collection didn’t appeal much to me, but the prices were a steal for the chances I was willing to take. Like any thrift store, the quality of clothes ranged from well-worn to new(manufacturers’ tag still intact). Owner /staff does a great job with curve appeal; the mannequin /window display got my attention! Also the dishes /chinaware looked pretty tempting … but I’m a basics /Corelle ware kinda gal.

My first time in this store and was pleasantly surprised! Super cool clothes, shoes, handbags, furniture, accessories for males and females! Prices are cheap, the guy who helped me was so friendly and not annoyed that I walked in 10 minutes before they closed(not on purpose!) I ended up buying an adorable little coffee table($ 35), super cute pink Juicy Couture tube top(practically brand new $ 5) and a pair of PINK pants from Victoria’s secret($ 8), for a total of $ 52! The best part about this store is that you choose which charity receives 20% of your purchase! Talk about selfless, brilliant and true inspiration to make a change! I will FORSURE be back, spread the word about Chic for Change and continue supporting this awesome and unique boutique! Love it!

I love businesses established with the purpose of giving back to the community. Chic for change is run by a handful of individuals who still naively believe they can make a difference… if only we were all so noble. The store runs by collecting donated clothing, books, furniture, and other various items from the community and resells them at bargain prices. This is true Bargain Hunter territory. Selection-wise, the store definitely has room to grow, but from what I’ve seen from the entering inventory CfC is definitely in position to do some expansion. Although they’ve been open for several months now, the Grand Opening was held today. Among the attendees present for the ribbon cutting ceremony were the three major organizations supported by CfC: Sacramento CASA, Sac Area Emergency Housing, and the Wildlife Care Association. I ended up taking home some Spanish-made licorice, an Ernest Hemingway novel, and a slightly used Mad Lib game set all for about $ 5. The best part of it was that 20% of the sales profits from my purchase went to one of the three charities; in my case Casa received the donation(what can I say? I have a soft spot for the kids).

This place is great! Yes, they have room to grow and expand, but the options now are really nice. There is a nice selection of clothes, furniture, and other trinkets. I love that they donate some of their profits to local non profits.

great concept for a thrift store. Plus the prices on items are not bad at all. Friendly staff too. Hope this one sticks around!

Chic for Change follows a very cool, unique concept: they donate a percentage of their profits(anywhere between 10% and 20%) to local non-profit organizations and small businesses in exchange for classes, performances and demonstrations in their store. I recently visited and was impressed by the way owner Tesh and her staff have utilized the store space. During a conversation with Tesh, I could tell she is passionate about what she does and making a positive, proactive impact on her community. She seems to care deeply about the causes she helps. The store is brand new but is already generating a lot of buzz. I know they’ll be having an official Grand Opening in the near future. I’ll be sure to be back and do my part to show my support!

This store is new, and thus has a long way to go. They have an assortment of random stuff spread out. Mostly furniture, a few books, a few accessories, and a few clothing items. They have the space to grow, but don’t have enough to fill their space yet. I would go back in a few months and see if things changed, but for now, it’s not worth a visit.

What a great find, this is a wonderful store. The owner is so nice and friendly. She has a great setup and items are so reasonable. I found a mid-century modern step table for $ 10. I’m going back to see what other treasures I can find.
