Capitol Garden Cafe

I’m upgrading my score because they opened the patio back up. Very nice spot to sit in the shade and enjoy some coffee.
Wish the food was better, but in a pinch they have a few snacks and simple grill items.

Be cautious! There are bugs in the food… even in the packaged goods. That could be because they let the food expire. CHECK expiration dates first! A coworker found a beetle looking bug in his snickers bar. It was disgusting. Another coworker has had food poisoning twice! Not too sure how this place stays open. I usually bag a healthy lunch. The one time I had to buy lunch I went to the café across the street because I was so scared.

Is there a way to report this place? I had the WORST experience there today and the sad thing is, because they are blind, you cannot show them the failure of the food. For instance, there is food that is set out ALL day long. I thought it was a coincidence, but it’s the same food. Next there is a boy in the back who is tall and blond who coughs over the area and does not wash his hands. I complained to the lady but she started shouting at me, which made security get nervous and intervene. Why would I lie? So I had to pay for food I didn’t even eat. The floor is not clean, the cashier does not clean his hands and the dog roams through the kitchen area. I’m all for supporting local, but this is ridiculous. They need to remove this place or post the contact number to call the health department. If I could give minus stars I would. It’s scary that this is allowed to happen in a state building.

Disgusting.
Dirty. Many of the dairy products are expired. Expensive. Tables are not washed. The patio used to be a great place to eat but they never ever clean the tables anymore.
The cashier always stinks, and so does his seeing-​eye dog. Give the poor pup a bath willya? And yourself too.

I only buy sealed up food/​drinks in a pinch. Do yourself a favor and go to the much better cafeteria at the twin towers. Your stomach will thank you.
