The food was great. The tri-tip platter is bomb! My main concerns that made me give this place only 3 stars would all be addressed if they moved to a different location, which sounds like they might? #1 My first time ordering there was awkward. The place inside is too cramped so I stood outside the door for way too long wondering if they were going to call out my name or my food item. I felt like an idiot and the cash register lady didn’t offer a «Hey! Your food is ready guy!» or anything like that. #2 You have homeless people coming up to you while eating asking for money. It’s almost as awkward as homeless people camping out by the CoinStar machine asking for spare change. #3 It’s too cold out! I want to eat inside but there is only 2 small tables and peoples butts all up on your head if you’re trying to eat inside.

Excellent food relatively quickly! Had the crab cake salad and it was enough for two meals. Great location. Tragic: This restaurant will be closing on Friday, December 5, 2014. Get it while you can!

This place is amazing. They consistently produce an amazing array of delicious dishes in a tiny space. I recommend it for a weekday breakfast or lunch.

Great lasagna special. Under $ 8. And it is huge with Caesar salad and bread. Mmmmm. Don’t let the long line intimidate you it moves fast. I also got my food within 5 minutes. Amazing for downtown lunch rush

The best consistently good and fast lunch food in downtown, period. I’ve never had a bad meal here, and they have a solid variety of options so whether I want a salad or a tri-tip sandwich or something with seafood, they’ve got lunch covered.

This place is amazing, very fresh ingredients with a kick of flavor that transpires over the whole meal. Their breakfast burritos are my favorite. I order them spicy and they are not too hot even for a mild tongue. The taste lingers with me all day and makes my mornings start off with the healthy nutrients a breakfast needs.

This is the best part of jury duty! My favorite is the asparagus salad, which is filled with crisp asparagus and other goodies with giant croutons or small pieces of bread(baguette slices actually). You can sit at the tables and eat or if they’re full, bring your lunch back to the tables outside the courthouse. It’s quite a filling salad.

My all time favorite is the grilled salmon salad. The homemade dressing is absolutely amazing.

My sister and I were eating lunch from another place on their tables outside. We were asked to leave because the tables were for this place only. So, I decided to buy a muffin and caesar salad to eat. That way we could eat on their tables… Well, they still refused to allow us to eat at their tables even if we bought something. It’s one thing if they weren’t rude, but the time used and how rudely they said it was awful! We were going to give this place a try the following day. But… NEVERMIND! RUDE! RUDE! RUDE!!!

Way overpriced! Of the three times I’ve been there, I end up being disappointed that the food quality is not that great, especially for the premium price. My visit yesterday will be my last — just wanted a side of tuna and avocado to doctor up my green salad: $ 7.32 with tax! Yes, a little scoop of so-so watery tuna, and four thin slices of avocado for more than what most places sell for a sandwich or salad. I really should have objected and just walked away, but being the polite woman that I am, I just paid it and resolved to vent on Unilocal to alleviate my passiveness. Today, I went across the street to LaBou and got the same thing, which was much better quality white albacore tuna and a healthy amount of perfectly ripe avocado for $ 3.50 with tax(and I think LaBou is a bit pricey, but this seemed way more reasonable.)

Over priced by like $ 2(had French dip that came with a bit of pasta salad, $ 10). Decent flavors, and nice location(other than the homeless asking for ur leftovers). They are the only food vendor in the park itself so they probably feel they can charge the way they do even thought they are literally a stone’s through from Quiznos, La Bou, and Starbucks. If I worked here and HAD to constantly eat at the local vendors I wouldn’t say that I would rule them out of my list but they would be skipped now and them in the rotation, that’s for sure. The peaceful park seating is what they have going for it, BIGTIME!

Fish Tacos = Newest favorite thing to get. Frankly, everything I’ve eaten here has been really yummy. Hits the spot at lunch!

I ordered the breakfast burrito and it was absolutely perfect. It was bigger than a Chipotle burrito with meat, potatoes, and tipped with a great sauce and jalepenos and cilantro. The tables on either side of us ordered the brick-oven baked pizza and I’ll try that next time.

Since day one of work, I have come here for my breakfast burrito fix. Sometimes I wander around to test the waters at other establishments, but Café Soleil just hits the spot. They do use a microwave to warm up the tortilla, eggs, potatoes and cheese, but you do get a decent amount of food for what you pay for. You are able to pick your choice of breakfast meat, but I also pick sausage. Definitely a solid staple from the breakfast meats. They did raise their prices which made it harder for me to stop by for breakfast, but some days I just had to get my breakfast burrito fix. The staff here are great and there are plenty of regulars so that is a good sign. I always take a look at the specials and its hard to believe that they’re able to cook all of these. If only I still worked in Sacramento I would try their lunch items. You never know what you’re missing until its actually gone :(

This is a little family run café that’s great for breakfast and lunch. Every day they have different specials, and the standard menu varies from sandwiches to tacos. My favorite dish is the chicken quesadillas. Many of the dishes come with a side of cesar salad. I often order my office lunch catering orders here, and they are super accommodating. Seating is limited, but it’s wonderful to sit under the shade in the park on a warm afternoon. Don’t forgot to grab a fresh lemonade or ice-tea!

Cute café out in the park. I tried the crab cake sandwich for $ 10 — unfortunately on regular wheat bread, there was a lot of leftover bread area. The crab cake itself was very tasty(a little heavy on the mayo); and combined with the lettuce and tomato, it was a delicious sandwich. The pasta salad was excellent too — full of veggies. I’ll definitely try their salmon, fish tacos, or roast beef: all looked excellent.

I’m beyond late in writing this review :-/. here’s another excellent lunch spot for those stuck on jury duty and have no idea where to find a convenient, non-fast food meal for your 90 minutes of freedom. I’m all about their loaded veggie sandwich! avocado, grilled eggplant, sprouts, lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese(omit for vegans) smeared with dijon and a pickle on the side. what more can i ask for on a sandwich for $ 5.50?! very reasonable for an amazingly simple lunch at the park. they have such a huge variety: lots of hot sandwiches and grilled foods like burgers, tri-tip, chicken, fish, tacos with any meat you’d like; many cold sandwich choices; too many salads to name; desserts galore; and any kind of breakfast you’d like for the early birdies. added bonus: you can enjoy the farmer’s market and find numerous goodies for dinner or lunch the next day– every Wednesday from 10am-1:30pm May-Oct.

Café Soleil or La Bonne? A Sacramento foodie’s dream decision. To have these two places within a block of each other, ahhh… sometimes I really, really love this town. LOVELOVELOVE this place! Restaurant size portions, gourmet food, all in the park. And all for less than 10 bucks! Lots of daily specials, from sandwiches to enchilada plates plus the permanent menu. The BF and I tried the salmon plate and the French dip. Both were so impressive he wanted to know if we could eat lunch here everyday :) The salmon was moist and came topped with a tropical salsa. Two good sized pieces that were glazed with kind of a peppery sweet n’ sour sauce. Fresh, homemade mashed potatoes with delicious gravy on the side. Also came with a carrot, zucchini, broccoli medley. The veggies were perfect, buttery and crisp-tender. French dip was pretty good. Meat was lean and tender, bread was crusty and good for dipping. Thought the au jus could have used a little more flavor, but that was the only complaint I had about the meal so I think it’s forgivable. Served with a pasta salad that was far superior to your supermarket varieties. Bought some chili and pasta/veggie soup to take home for dinner. Both were excellent. We got there about 2:00 and had the place to ourselves. The girls behind the counter were very helpful. I was so impressed with our lunches that I might have been babbling a little bit when I went back in for the to-go order. They gave me a sample of the soup and the chili to help me decide(Both of course!). Would recommend that you try to go at least once when they’re not busy and rushed. Very memorable experience.
