A-Ok. Just as the rating goes. Rode my bike down Freeport, all the time cursing the fanatics racing down this narrow road, to stop in for a donut and a little coffee. The shop was relatively empty, except for the occasional laborer to stop in for a donut or two. It made me ponder the profitability of the place. During the span of 20 minutes, only two people stepped in for one donut each. Seriously. My sprinkled glazed cake donut was good, except that the lower half of it was a little too greasy, as if it sat too long and the oil drained to the lower half of the donut. Coffee was equally bad, Farmer Bros. Not bad for on the run, but overall, better donuts to be had elsewhere.

Sunday donut run post-dog park. I was heading to Yum Yum, the 24 hour cheap good place(that takes credit cards.) But I vaguely recalled my husband pointing out a donut shop in the weird little center on Freeport across from BK, so I turned, made a u turn, and went in. First of all, cash only. Second of all, it’s FREAKINGSUNDAY. Where are the donuts? They had crappy looking fare. Very few chocolate donuts or buttermilks, no lemon filled. They were very polite and friendly, but I bought a dozen donuts for 7.99 cash. No thirteenth free donut in the batch. /for 7.99? Seriously? And she asked if I would like anything else. HOWZABOUT the other DONUT? But when I got home, I realized these donuts are nothing special. About as expensive as Manley’s, they have less filling. The custard was weird tasting. Which was fine, since they only put like a tsp of filling in the filled donut. My 4 year old likes them. But she likes anything with sprinkles. The dog stole a plain glazed. I’m not even going to chase him. Next time, I’m making the drive to Yum Yum, where the donuts really ARE yum. And fresh. And filled. And they have lemon donuts that I can chop up and mix into vanilla ice cream. ORMARIE’s! Thanks for reminding me, Greg!!!

Nick wanted to get donuts for work one morning and stopped by this shop. He picked up a dozen and some other pastries. He tried to pay with his ATM but they only accepted cash so he had to run to the ATM, came back to pay and then they said they didn’t have any change so he let them keep the change. When he got to work and shared the donuts, he found that they gave him stale old donuts. Stale Old Donuts.
