I’m a little shocked that only one person has reviewed this since 2008. I would expect people to have a lot more comments than that, whether it’s yay, best way to kill time at SEA-TAC, or boo, don’t get sucked in by the allure of butter and waste your money. I’m unfortunately in the latter camp and learned to the hard way, aka the $ 30 that I really didn’t have to part ways with way. I really did set pretty low expectations for value given this is a nail salon at the airport for heavens sake. I knew there would probably be less than average value. Usually in my hometown a whopping $ 30 gets me a bubbly feet soak and massage, and mani pedi that lasts for days. I love butter polishes but the service was beyond awful, in a way that in my mind tarnishes the butter image. Very unfriendly nail lady comes and starts spraying a peculiar sanitizer on me, and then filing away immediately at my nails without the obligatory, «square or round?». I wasn’t paying much attention until halfway I noticed my nails were of some foreign oval shape. We fixed that right away but then came the next problem. She starts painting away at my nails and hardly put in the effort to make clean edges. I agree with the previous reviewer that this looks like my younger sister painted it on for me, or worse, I painted this myself with two left hands. Sloppy edges and she barely did any cuticle work. We finished the job and I looked back upon her work, really in awe that my favorite nail polish brand would set up shop only to not live up to their brand and name. In any case — learned my lesson the hard way. No more finding ways to kill time at the nail parlor. Retreating back to the bookstore for future times.

Being the jetsetter that I am, I am frequently at the SMF(Sac Airport). As I’m on my way way to waste my time sitting in those awful chairs by the boarding area, I see a new store just for me. Well, so I thought. I enter into the new Butter London which is a new nail salon since Dec. ’07, a cute little nail salon with the whole euro décor thing going on. I walk in and check the prices for both manicures and pedicures. Cost for a manicure: $ 20 Cost for a pedicure: $ 40 That’s like double the price at a regular nail salon. Ok, I understand it’s the airport so they’ll jack up the prices like that, ok. I had 2 hours to kill so I figured I just get a pedi and mani while I wait and how was I gonna give up on an opportunity to try a new place out and get pampered too! =) I was helped right away and the girl sat me at a makeshift plastic unstable table thing and she sat in front of me. I just thought she was going to do the mani first and then take me over to get my pedi. You know when you get a pedicure you sit in those big comfy massaging chairs and they have that bubbling water for you to soak your feet in– I just thought that those pedi chairs were in the back somewhere because I didn’t see them when I walked in. Nope. She had me take off my shoes, roll up my pants and put my foot on a laptable that was on her lap. [dot dot dot] Ok, I’ve been to London before but haven’t had a pedi/mani while there so maybe this is how they do it? … really? Uh… I reluctantly placed my foot on the table and commented how«I’ve never done this before.» The girl took my foot and sprayed some antibacterial stuff on it and got down and dirty. All without gloves! Not saying that my feet don’t already smell like roses or anything =D Anyways, an awkward 40 minutes later and my french tip pedicure lookin like my younger sister painted it I decline any further service and left. The manicure alone would have been just fine but the pedicure horrified me so much I just had to leave. I did leave a nice tip for the poor girl who had to sit there crouched over in an uncomfortable position slaving away even though my feet would have looked better had I not wanted to be pampered or try a new place and I would’ve saved myself over $ 45.
