Bombolone Café

Went to this Café yesterday since my girlfriend and I happen to be in the mall to purchase some things. Usually, if you happen to have first time customers, you’d try to make their experience great. Of course, I had questions and wanted to know how their process worked: how to make a macaron sandwich (which we found out it is pre-​made only now) and what their portions were for 1 scoop.
The server happen to tell my girlfriend and I that 1 scoop of ice cream was «a descent size.» From her hands, it looked like a size of a softball. However, it came out smaller, like a tennis ball.
Before ringing, I overheard the cashier asking OUR server, if our order was a «kid’s portion» and commenting that this wasn’t «that size.».
What…the…
I guess it wasn’t since I had to pay the 1 scoop price (though they had a 20% off coupon). Did not understand why we got cheated in portion, was it because we didn’t get a sandwich that costed more? I didn’t want a pre-​made macaroon sandwich, when pictures on Unilocal showed the ability to mix and match. Sorry~ if the macaroon choices wasn’t what we would prefer to order?
Would have given a 1 star because the fact of probably not getting a reasonable «1-​scoop» portion, but the ice cream was good.

Awesome Oreo cookie sandwich. Nice find over the weekend. A must try place. Never knew about ice cream sandwiches. Staff was friendly and was nice enough to give samples to taste. They have a lot of variety. Next visit will try the Donut icecream sandwich.

They run out of supplies before they even close. Their Oreo macaroons taste nothing like Oreos and are stale. I came an hour before they close and your basically picking leftovers.

this little Café caught my eye as I was in line for pretzels. the best thing on the menu? the ice cream macaroons.
I am a HUGE fan of macaroons. unfortunately, the two shells that I was given were stale and disappointing. I ordered a strawberry macaroon sandwich with cookies & crème ice cream. the strawberry flavor was apparent and the ice cream was delicious. how could it not, it was gunthers?
$ 5.25 for a sub-​par ice cream sandwich/​? no thanks. I’d rather drive down the street to Fair Oaks and walk into The Parlor & order an ice cream sandwich for a little under $ 3.

There red velvet macaroon and butter pecan ice cream is amazing and the girl upfront had great customer service. the macaroons weren’t frozen so they were edible.

Yummy macaron ice cream sandwiches. Located right in Arden fair mall. Lower level across from hot dog on a stick. Surprisingly no line at all Especially for a weekend. Got a free pastry for checking in too! 3 macaron ice cream sandwiches for about $ 15. All were all delicious!

I went 30 minutes before closing, it was still busy and the staff was super nice and accommodating. Obviously close to closing they were low on macarons flavors but they checked to make sure I had all the options they had available for me. I got a caramel & hazelnut macaron gunthers coffee ice cream sandwich and it was so delish. Although it was near the end of night, the macaron was still fresh and not stale. I asked them to cut my macaron ice cream sandwich in ½ and place it on a paper boat instead of the styrofoam cup and it was so much easier and less messy to eat

Excellent place for dessert! My husband and I have been dying for a macaron and ice cream place. This place is right next to Starbucks in the Arden mall. The stall had so many flavors and options. You can have your ice cream five ways. In a conventional cone, cup, sandwiched between freshly baked cookies, stuffed in a doughnut or my favorite in a fancy macaron.
They had different flavors but I was surprised they had taro! It tasted delicious alongside a vanilla macaron. It was a bit messy some of the places we’ve had it before froze them ahead of time. I guess this way you had lots of options.
They have only been opened for four months and I hope they do well do they can have one here in Roseville! I can not wait to have more!

Great service and quality of products! Love their temple coffee and to top it off they carry the best ice cream in town (Gunther’s ice cream)

Macaron ice cream sandwiches at the mall?! Yes, please! Shopping is a good way to walk off the calories.
Food coma from eating that huge sugar loaded snack but there’s a long line at starbucks? Well they have temple coffee!
This is a great addition to the mall and they feature local shops such as temple coffee and gunthers ice cream. I had a chocolate macaron ice cream sandwich with taro. Sounds weird but it actually works.

Really good and super nice employees!!! Love the options, and they try to make your creation the best they can and care about quality.

One of the best dessert places I’ve been to in a mall! Ice Cream, Ice Cream sandwiches with donuts, Macarons or cookies? I mean what more can you ask for? Oh let’s also serve Gunthers along with that. I can’t imagine how busy this place is when Sacramento is burning people alive in the summer.
My only tiny gripe was the difficulty on eating my actually Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich! Better presentation couldn’t hurt… But the fat scoop was well worth the $ 5. I’ll take that everytime. Best thing in Arden!

Great service and it was only two people working today with it being so crazy, I was more than impress. I go to Starbucks on a regular and they always seem overwhelmed by how busy they get, but the employees at Bombolone were exceptional!
P.S the lemon macaroons were amazing

We had Thai food for dinner and waited to eat dessert later, came to Arden mall & stumbled across this place. I must say, these guys know what they are doing. The place looks so nice & unique. We ate pumpkin spiced Macaron with toasted almond ice cream & Chocolate sprinkles topping (see pic). It was soooo yummy, it’s a must try. We will surely come back to try other items).

I was pretty excited to come here once I found out they had macaron ice cream sandwiches, but only to be let down by something basic, messy, and presented horribly. I ended up getting chocolate macarons with banana ice cream and chocolate chips on the outside. They served it to me in a small bag and then handed me a cup that I could put it into myself since they said most people end up putting it in a cup. It was kind of difficult to move the cookie sandwhich from the bag to the cup, which made me think it would have been nice if they would have asked me if I preferred a cup or a bag. When I finally got my cookie sandwhich into the cup, it was still somewhat difficult to eat with the flimsy plastic spoon they provided. As I got closer to the end of my dessert, it started getting way too sweet and I couldn’t even finish it. Don’t think i’ll ever be coming back here.

I ordered the Nutella ice cream bowl with an expresso shot last week and thought it was good. If you’re a coffee lover, this is for you.
This week, I ordered the hazelnut macaroon butter pecan ice cream sandwich with oreo topping. Let’s just say, it’s delish and sweet. If you’re a sweet tooth, this is for you :)
Recommend this place for your fav desserts.

Favorite new desert place. Macaroon ice cream sandwiches are yum! They have several macaroon flavors including red velvet, lavender, Carmel, etc and you can pick your ice cream to go with. I chose Carmel macaroon with toasted almond ice cream. So many more flavors. Macaroon sandwiches are $ 5.25/ea and they make them right on the spot.

I am from Bay Area and came to Sacramento for a friend’s baby shower. Needed to do some shopping and came to Arden mall. I passed by this place and was curious of what they’re selling. The gentleman was super polite and provided the best customer service ever, even though some other staff were young and inexperience (acceptable since it’s a new business).
I tried one of their macaroon ice cream sandwich, OMG! its was so delicious, the vanilla macaroon was chewy yet soft, combined with mango ice cream that was also really good and a bit sweet.
Can’t wait to try their donut/​cookie ice cream sandwiches, maybe next time when I visit Sacramento :)

I rarely go to Arden mall anymore but tonight only came to Arden to get my iPhone replaced at the apple store and we happened to park by Starbucks. While walking by we didn’t even see this place. We happened to stopped by Jamba Juice.
While waiting for our drinks my youngest daughter pointed this place out and said she wanted ice cream. I looked over and to my surprise I saw they were selling macarons which caught my attention. I went to look to see what else they served and saw they also have macaron ice cream! Many different flavors to choose from. They also serve temple coffee! Lol from all the bad reviews I’ve read about this place below we must have came at the right time. Service was fast and the workers were great and attentive! Definitely will be back!
It was too good not to share on my Instagram friends and family! Can’t wait to come back and try more flavors!

A random location for such a quaint dessert shop… but I’m not complaining! They have plenty of options to satisfy all of your sweet tooth needs: ice cream, macarons, donuts, macaron ice cream sandwiches, donut ice cream sandwiches, milkshakes, coffee, crepes, cookies, and the list goes on and on…
On my first visit I decided to get the macaron ice cream sandwich. You can pick two different macaron flavors — I went with strawberry and mint just to get my favorite colors — and any flavor ice cream and topping, for $ 5.25. I decided on birthday cake ice cream and skipped on the toppings. The staff was really friendly and quick to get our orders for us.
Sadly, right as I was paying I noticed they had CHURRO ice cream sandwiches! These aren’t in Sacramento yet as far as I know, so I was bummed I didn’t catch that earlier. I reassured myself it was okay because I didn’t even see any churros so it probably meant they were out anyway hahaha. I’ll definitely try that when I come back to the mall!

So I’m sitting in our store’s break room when a group of coworkers walk in with donuts stuffed with ice cream and inform us that the new Bombolone Café is having a soft opening and are giving out free treats. Another coworker and I head over and stand in line. There are several people ahead of us, including a third coworker. We patiently stood in line for 15 – 20 minutes waiting our turn. We watch everyone ahead of us be served, including the third coworker mentioned earlier.
When I finally get to the counter and am about to order, the server asks «Who do you know?»
I cock my head to the side and ask what she means.
«Tonight is for friends and family only,» she replies.
«So who were all the people I just watch get served? Who did all my coworkers who were served know here?»
«I don’t know. I didn’t serve them.»
My coworker and I turned to leave.
Fine. You won’t serve me tonight? You won’t serve me ever. Lost a customer before you even had one.
