I really enjoyed going there over the years, but it appears to have closed. Im hoping they simply moved to a better location… Mai was so kind.

I’ve been going here for a loooong time and the last couple yrs the place has been going dwn hill. They burnt my shrimp order n it seems like the shrimp count has been decreasing thru the yrs. The pork spring rolls and the peanut sauce is A1!

BOBO café has the BEST spring rolls. I come here on most days for lunch and order at least 6 spring rolls to go with my rice and pork. The woman who always serves me is very nice and always fills my glass o the top anytime she walks by(which is a huge thing for me) they have the best Vietnamese food hands down!

The phở tastes like dishwater, no meat hardly and small portions for 8 bucks! Will definitely not be back here. I’m not sure if the owner knows what Vietnamese food is supposed to taste like, but this ain’t it.

Stop by Sacramento 1 night for work, this is the closest to the hotel I stay. Monday 7PM, I’m the only one there. That was a little strange. Ordered pork roll and beef Phở, rolls are super skinny, and boy, the Phở I ordered I can literally count out 3 small beef ball cut in half and 3 broken slice of beef. And all that for $ 13 + tips… I feel bad for my company who has to reimburse me for this meal… Definitely not recommended

Came here since the boyfriend was craving phở, we should have kept on driving. He got phở, but the selection is minuscule compared to other phở places. They have a lot of beef, chicken and seafood dishes to offer, and most of them are under $ 8.00. The dishes come with rice noodle or rice as a side. I ordered grilled lemongrass chicken with the noodles. The chicken was cold, looked and tasted like it was not fresh and the portion was small. The noodles were just that… Noodles. I added hoisin sauce, soy sauce and another sauce they had on the table to make them edible. My boyfriend had the sliced beef and meatball phở. He enjoyed the broth, however he had to add half a bottle of Siracusa sauce and hoisin sauce to make it better. The waiter did not refill our water and gave us our to-go bag with a hole in it. The only positive was that our total bill was under $ 15.00

I absolutely love a good vermicelli bowl; could eat one every day in fact. Normally, my go-to place for this has been Rice Noodle on Arden Way, but since I no longer live in the area, I decided to try Bobo Café since it is right down the street. I can’t comment on the service since I got takeout today, but I was sorely disappointed with the food. I ordered a No. 57, Charbroiled Lemongrass Beef over Vermicelli. The portion was extremely stingy(in fact I am still hungry as I write this), and it was the blandest noodle bowl I have ever had. The ngoc chaum sauce wasn’t even salty, and the spicy sauce wasn’t spicy — I ended up putting more of my own sambal oolek on it to give it some semblance of flavor. Needless to say, I will not be returning. A friend told me TM Noodle on Manzanita is really good — looks like I’ll be trying that next time my noodle bowl craving kicks in!

Amazing! We love the lemongrass chicken over rice noodles. And the pork rolls! The peanut sauce is to die for! Very yummy!

Charbroiled pork w rice, curried chicken, salad w pork n shrimp, spring roll and vietnamese eggrolls. Very yummy, pork done in that wonderful sweet caramelized way. Curry was different than I have had, very faint curry flavor but tender meat with good flavor. Gotta say, the salad rocked! Nice dice on majority of cabbage and very bursting with flavor. Both rolls were good. I can’t say it is the BEST Vietnamese I have had, but will definitely return. Fair prices for what is provided and it’s not expensive,

It was a nice surprise! We tagged along with a neighbor who invited us to join her and a friend for dinner. We shared the«bun» as an appetizer, some sort of meat with rice dumpling, served cold with a peanut sauce~ Very good! I ordered a lemongrass chicken dish that came with rice, and my date got the same but with noodles. Next time I will get the noodles, they have onion with them and have more flavor than rice obviously. I will absolutely be back here, it was my first time trying Vietnamese and I was very pleased with my chicken dish and the prices are affordable! No problems with the service and the place was clean and cute.

Not sure what happened to them. They used to be IT for Vietnamese food in the area. The smallest portion of noodles I’ve ever received at an Asian restaurant. The chicken was not fresh. If they are trying to go on the cheap… it’s obvious.

Awesome food and great service at all of their restaurants. Have been going for years. Would give it 4.5 stars if I could.

Terrible for lunch I ordered Phở rare sliced beef with beef balls and was appalled by the lack of the phở flavor; none at all. just like watered down chicken broth The bun thip or dried noodle BBQ bowl came with chili sauce and fish sauce instead of the traditional nuoc cham(julienned carrots, lime juice, sugar, fish sauce) which usually enhances the rice noodles. Lousy food

Stopped by cuz I was too lazy to cook at home; should have just cooked. Food was brought out cold, and it wasn’t very good at all. Service was okay. Also, when I asked for the WiFi password, none of the workers knew it. -.-

My coworker and I decided to dine at this location for lunch on Tuesday. It had been years since I had eaten here and remembered how pleasant my experience had been and figured it would be a repeat. Boy was I wrong! First off the gentleman who greeted us at the door shuffled us into a booth on the left side of the restaurant instead of allowing us to choose a smaller table at the front of the store. Once seated he walked away for about five minutes before bringing us menues. He was going to walk away again but I intercepted his quick get away by asking for water. This dude kind of rolled his eyes and walked off impatiently. Who does that?! A few minutes later he comes back with our water and tries to walk off again when I tell him we are ready to order. My coworker ordered first then me… My biggest gripe about this particular location is they have very little vegeterian choices and he ones they do are either too spicy or have way too much onion in them but I did find one enters that was a perfect combination for my appetite and acid reflux… at least I thought so until he came back to announce that they were out of asparagus! He gave me an option of shrimp or broccoli… of course I kept it green. I was irritated but kept it cool because the spring rolls were at least decent and the sweet peanut dipping sauce was delicious but I ended breaking out in hives after returning to the office. It saddens me to say this but this location is no match for its sister location on Fulton and yet I still left a tip. The food was not that great and the service was none existent. Do you know they didn’t even thank us for coming to eat at their restaurant?! The woman sat behind the counter eye-balling me like I was going to rob the place. SMH! K.J.

I love this place. I have been coming here regularly for almost 16 years. It is a hole in the wall for sure. But if you know what to order, you won’t be disappointed. This place is quiet, you can actually talk to the people you eat with. Usually you will be the only people in there, so don’t be surprised. The waiter/owners are quiet. But they are quick with service. And yes, sometimes you have to find them to ask for something. But they are never rude. Overall they have been friendly to me and my family over the years. When I pick up to go orders, they will even ask about how my family is doing. They even recognize me when I call and know what I am going to order. Pick up orders take only 10 – 15 minutes. I highly recommend: # 11, the shrimp ring rolls # 51 – 56, or any of the rice noodle bowls The peanut sauce is amazing, so get a side order. I would not be put off by the other reviews on here. Some people have extremely high expectations.

The lady that works there is very nice, thats why i gave it two stars. Besides that the food is quite bad. I heard the microwave went off several times, it made a really bad impression. Overall, I do not recommend this place. There are other places around Madison that serves better Vietnamese food.

This experience was all bad. I was hungry and decided to stop by for lunch. I had the urge for vermicelli noodles with chicken. When I walked into the restaurant it seemed like hey had just opened. No one was in there and I thought for a moment, «I have a bad feeling about this» but I preceded to ask for a menu anyways. I told the lady I wanted vermicelli noodles and she. Said have a seat. The tables and chairs looked run down and the restaurant had an old dirty feel to it. I went to the restroom and it wasn’t any better. Behind their main counter where the cash register is, it was messing and had documents and papers everywhere. Obviously, it was used as their office space to run the restaurant, but you would think it would be cleaned and organized. Okay…to the food. The noodles were cold and the chicken was red and dry. I asked they lady, «is this chicken?» I’ve never seen chicken look like this… red. I ate it anyway because I wasn’t about to waste food and didn’t want to offend the lady. I ate quickly and left after I paid. I didn’t even drink the water… no telling where they pumped it from. That place gave me the creeps and I hope I ate chicken and it something that used to be a pet. I’m just saying… I can’t believe this restaurant is still operating. I think Saigon Bay Phở on Stockton Blvd. has am of the best vietnamese food around. Bobo Café obviously can be a great restaurant(they have all these Best Restaurants in Sac awards hanging up) but they need to put money back into their restaurant. I’ll never go back… never and I recommend you not go either u less you wan cold food, subpar service, and mystery meat.

Well Bobo’s you have tricked us again. We stopped visiting your establishments because of the horrible service. The food was fine, but once it was delivered you felt you better eat quickly and go. It was over the top rude, and frankly we decided not to come again. Fast forward eight years, and starving, we decided to take a gamble and try the ONLY Bobo’s we haven’t been to. Sigh… Well, this time the service was excellent. The nicest, most attentive people. The food was horrible and the way over priced for the TINY amount they gave us. Our bill as around 30, decent for two people, but we were still hungry and had a snack when we got home. The food was dry, salty and just not good. It’s sad, because I really liked the people who worked there. Never again Bobo’s, we will not be fooled!

Barely a 2-star rating because I probably will not go back. I had the barbecued pork on rice noodles with a spring roll. Pretty standard fare, easily prepared. I wanted bean cake but did not see it on their menu like I have seen at another Bobo Café and/or Phở Bac Hoa Viet. The meat was dry and the produce was wilted. The shredded carrots seemed fresh, but the lettuce, sprouts and cilantro were bruised & wilted. I hope the owners don’t think their patrons don’t notice the brown just because it’s concealed by noodles. The spring roll was very good. But its small size couldn’t offset the dissatisfying entrée. Good luck with this place.
