Nothing beat a spicy hotlink with the works. Topped with finely chopped onions, sweet relish, ketcup, mustard, and spicy jalapenos. With every bite, SATISFACTION. The lil station on the corner of 7th and capitol is hard to miss and the worker was very nice and friendly.

I’ve always liked hot dogs and as silly as it sounds, I especially love getting them from street carts because it makes me feel as if I’m in a big city like New York. Unfortunately, when I moved to Sacramento in 2009, there were very few hot dog carts to be found in the downtown area because, much like the onerous restrictions placed on food trucks, the City of Sacramento seems intent on strangling all small businesses with regulatory requirements. Sometime in the last few years, the city«graciously» found it in them to provide additional permits and since then, more carts have opened in the downtown area, but I still have always been disappointed in the offerings since they all just steam the dogs in boiled water and the pricing is not competitive. That is, until Bill’s BBQ Dogs opened and quickly became my go-to spot. Not only do they cut the dogs in half and personally grill them for you, they also grill the buns and at just $ 3 for a dog or hot link and another dollar for a soda, you can get two without breaking the bank. Also, I love the fact that since the cart is located on the Federal Building property and run by the same vendor who runs the restaurant on the inside, they apparently didn’t have to apply for a license from the City of Sacramento and were able to just open and start doing business like any American should be able to. So if you want a good hot dog, and you want to protest the idiotic food service regulations imposed by the City of Sacramento, head on over to Bill’s BBQ Dogs on the SW corner of 7th and Capitol and enjoy your lunch!

It’s like attending a cookout on your lunch break! The guy grilling up my burger was charismatic and fun to converse with. It made the short amount of time I waited for my burger pass by quickly. The burger itself was pretty damn good and didn’t hurt my wallet that much. It definitely was a good way to kick off the weekend!

I work next door and see the hot dog cart from the hallway of my office. My go-to for a warm lunch and a friendly visit when my from-home lunch just doesn’t sound appetizing. Can’t beat toasty buns and weiners! :)

I totally agree with you Marshall — I just had my first grilled hotdog and with chips/drink I only paid $ 5.00. Glad I stopped there. Everyone there seeped to be quite happy with their meals.

Has to be the best hot dog cart in downtown. Anyone that works downtown is used to seeing the hotdog carts on every other corner, which makes for a quick easy lunch when short on time. However, with convenience comes a hefty price. I have serious issues when it comes to paying upwards of $ 5.00 for a frigin hotdog sitting in hot water. Fortunately there is Bill’s Bbq Dogs. For about the same price as a solo dog at other stands, you can get a quality GRILLED hotdog, sausage, or hotlink with a soda and bag of chips. The grilling gives it great flavor. You’re also guaranteed to have a fun chat with the guy grilling up your dog to order.
