My husband and I decided to work with a Doula because we were entering unfamiliar territory and we wanted to have someone there who has been through it herself, plus supported and guided many others. We were hoping to do the majority of the laboring at home and the last few hours in the hospital. I could see my husband panicking and running around and the idea of a Doula there to pour him a glass of wine, put me in the bathtub, and be there for the two of us, was very appealing! We interviewed a few Doulas but none gave us the good feeling like Amy. Some were experienced but seemed to lack passion, or some had passion but lacked experience. Amy fortunately had both and she really connected with us, which was especially important because everything turned out differently than we imagined. I had a rough labor and delivery and it was such a comfort to have Amy there with all her knowledge and wisdom. She guided me to more comfortable positions and tried to have my baby turned in a natural way. She was also a quiet and strong presence and when it came time to make decisions she was a great impartial source who knew our wishes. During difficult moments she also supported my husband and encouraged him to take a break when needed during the 26-hour labor. Amy truly went above and beyond – being there from the start to the end! We can warmly and truly recommend Amy to anyone who can use an experienced Doula to help guide them through the different steps of childbirth. It really eliminated most of the stress so we could focus on bringing new life into this world and we know she can do the same for others.
