There are other places with higher ratings in Sackett’s. Here’s why — Atmosphere: c’mon guys, a coat of paint to freshen up the old girl’s exterior is definitely in order. And I know, it’s a «boating thing» to play 70’s rock at a waterfront place on Lake Ontario, but no one needs to hear«Stairway» as dinner music. Staff: I guess all the adults in Sackett’s were abducted by aliens, or they work at Chili’s in Watertown or something. The kids are trying, but it’s the little things like actually remembering that anything that’s not finger food requires silverware, and customers shouldn’t have to flag you down for a knife and fork. Food: Sigh. Well, the burger was good. Very good, actually. The fries? Are they supposed to be that brown? When was the last time you changed your frying oil? And maybe that’s why your fish and chips was soggy, rather than being crisp, as it should be? Mediocre is the best I can say here. Beer: I’m not sure what’s going on here. I was here a few summers back, hung out on your patio(you know, that bunch a’ people dressed in funny clothes from 1812) and really enjoyed your beers. This time — a bit low on carbonation, a bit off on some flavors. Are we rotating stock and cleaning tap lines like we should? Summary: I really, really wanted to celebrate you, Sackett’s, but in the end I’d say to anyone just buy their 1812 Ale in bottles, and check out some other places in town first.

Great Brew Pub right on the waters edge in Sackets Harbor. I enjoyed the War of 1812 Amber the most and my wife liked the Railroad beer. They brew their beer right there on spot. you can see the tank room and more are in basement. They also have full bar and offer food too. We did not eat here. We enjoyed our stop there. If in the area I will stop back in.

Back in the day, this place was pretty good. These days, I don’t know how they stay open. Our server was inept and didn’t even know anything much about the beers, not that we could ask her much since she was AWOL most of the time. The beers turned put to be good but the food was mediocre at best and the burger was so under cooked it tried to run off the plate. I hadn’t been in a few years and now I know NOT to come back. Sackets Harbor is an awesome little place but they really need some better eateries. SHBH and the Boat House are simply unacceptable and TPG thinks it’s the next Daniel Boulard joint with its overpriced and underwhelming food.

First the positive: the beer was good. And for that alone, I give it two stars. Now the negatives: (1) I ordered ice tea. They said they«ran out of ice tea 3 weeks ago.»(I guess they can’t brew more?! It’s not rocket science. Here is the funny part… I asked for some hot tea instead; they brought that right out! I guess they don’t know ice tea is just hot tea that is cooled and served over ice!!!) (2) I ordered soup. Soup spoon had dried food stuck to it. Waited 10 minutes and finally got a new soup spoon. Soup was cold by then. (3) I ordered salad. It arrived and greens were limp/withered. (4) My husband tried to order a Cuban sandwich; they said they were out of pork. (5) We ordered French fries, they were cold and limp.

Only 3 stars because of the service. Went inside to ask for an outside table on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. We were told we could get a drink at the bar and sit in a certain section outside. At the bar the server had an awful attitude, like she could care less if people were there or not. We asked for a flight — you can try all 9 beer on tap for about $ 15. They serve it in a train, but were out of holders– so we had no way to carry 9 samples outside, we just stayed at the bar. She poured us 9 beers in no apparent order and did not bother to describe any of them or place them in any order for us. Most of the beers were decent. The bartender made it a less than stellar experience– some of the beers made up for it. I’d go back, I’m interested to try the food, just hope it’s not the same bartender!

I visited your establishment today. Sat out on the patio which was wonderful. 3 out of 4 of us ordered the fish and chips. First of all, you advertise beer battered haddock. It was so greasy when it was brought to the table as were the fries. All 3 of us said it was not haddock. It tasted like beer battered cod. It was not good at all. I have never tasted haddock like that and at $ 15 I thought that was a little pricey. I came from Georgia and the haddock is my favorite meal when I come back here, but not this time. Sorry to be so negative, but when I spend $ 30 for lunch I expect haddock.

A solid four star experience! Wow! You people are friendly! YEAHMAN! The beer was incredible this trip around and I have to say the food was good too especially coming off a holiday weekend! Nice job! Barstool Bitters was so good I’d like to kiss the brewer. Pucker up butter cup, that shit was tasty. As with many pubs, this place leans heavy on the fried food, but the salads are SOGOOD, and the shrimp was perfection. Thanks for an enjoyable meal and we will see you again! Music on the deck is too loud and no, I’m not over 40.

So don’t come here if you want to enjoy a beer on their patio, it’s only reserved for those eating lunch! Glad the patio was empty on this beautiful day! Not only is the food subpar, you have to be stuck at the bar at 2:45 pm just in case someone wants to come eat lunch on the patio. Stay at hop spot if you want to have a drink outside.

Great place to enjoy a beer and watch the sunset! I only tried the Pale Ale but they had a great beer sampler for only $ 13 that I may try next time.

I was in upstate NY for my nephews graduation and we ate here for a family dinner. I ordered the seafood soup and sliced beef with mashed red skin potatoes & summer vegetables. The steak tasted & looked like wild game & tasted the way it looked. I wasn’t very happy, but was happy to eat with my family.

Came in from out of town on business. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great, right on the lake and a quaint little pub, very upstate. We ordered the duck nachos to start, which are awesome! I would never have thought to combine the flavors they did, everything just worked. I had the salmon cianbatta with chips. Salmon was good, the bread was just a bit too tough and the chips could have cooked a tad bit longer. I would definitely go back.

There are pros and cons to this establishment. The view is beautiful and the deck is great for an outdoor dining experience. The bar has a great casual feel. For the beer drinkers in our group, they raved about the 1812 Amber. The cocktails that were not beer left a bit to be desired. The fried cheese curd appetizer was delicious. We went two nights in a row and could not wait to get the cheese curd as soon as we got there. Rest of the food was mediocre and expensive Service was good I would go again but only for the bar

Planned to have our small wedding here and the staff was suuuuper helpful all around. Lindsey was accommodating with all my ideas and worked with our budget to make the entire planning process a thousand times smoother than I thought it would be. Danielle was the greatest helping us out the day of with our food and drink orders at the bar. Even when there was a snafu with the bakery she pulled through with an awesome cheesecake option which my husband loved. Obviously, the place is cute but the staff made it awesome. Thank you for a great day! Oh, and the duck nachos are amazing!

If one takes the path less travelled on the way from Syracuse to Canada, you might take the road to Sackets Harbor. There you will find a small village, a killer view of the lake, and warm service! Oh, and some strong beers too! I had a train sampler, you have to see for your self if it’s a wreck or a nice ride ;) The standouts were the Amber and Double IPA, both good for a nice break on a long drive. You can grab a solid meal and catch a game at the bar, or take in the breadth of Lake Ontario. I recommend the Rueben and fresh cut fries.

I don’t normally write reviews for establishments but I felt the need to for this one. We almost avoided eating here seeing the mixed reviews about the service. I’d like to say they are not entirely true. We stopped in today and were greeted with a smiling, happy staff that were all very attentive. We had very little wait for any portion of our meal and the waitress repeatedly checked on us so we’re never felt abandoned or forgotten about. As for the food all of our burgers, samdwiches, apps, and soups were excellent and that’s not even mentioning the awesome brew sampler! Every beer on the train was very tasty and I would totally drink any of them again at a future time. So if you’re into beer and some tasty pub food this place is great. Now, we were there during an off peak hour during the day so it was relatively slow which could have helped play a role in our speedy service but from our first impression today, we love this place and we’ll be back for sure.
