Two stars. One for service one for location. Kitchen looks like a disaster. Drinks were reprehensible. Sangria tasted like boxed wine mixed with Sprite and a rotten strawberry for presentation. Had the waitress bring coronas instead which we had to ask for limes. It Was warm and tasted«off. «Definitely not returning ever.

Good service. Decent food. Amazing view! This is the typical fried fish/seafood you would expect at a place like Seaside Johnnies. We had the fish and chips as well as crab cakes. Both were delicious. The best part of Seaside Johnnies is obviously the outdoor seating by the water. Go to enjoy the view and get some decent food and drinks while you are there!

I never take the time to write a review, but save your money… completely overpriced and the food is horrible. The service was good. This place makes Red Lobster look like a michelin rated restaurant. Don’t bother coming here. I wish I could give negative stars.

Awful food I found bits of shells in my clam casino but the server was kind enough to take it off the bill

Summer’s almost here, so it’s time to drink at a place that’s on a beach/waterway. So we came to Southside’s on Long Island Sound. The drinks are OK, the food is OK. But you come here for the view of the beach and water. So, come for a good Summertime time.

Love visiting Oakland beach during the summer, the beach gets much better when me and my friends have a few frozen drinks from seaside johnnies! It’s a great place for drinks but I wasn’t too pleased with the food. It a bit pricey and seems like everything is fried.

Summer, has a funny effect on me, I tend to be in a better overall mood, tolerate things that might bug me in January, Seaside Johnnies is one of those places, it’s beautiful, eating by the water, the beach, views breathtaking, so a 17.00 hamburger is tolerable, 20.00 salads, etc, the food is good, service is fine, parking is plentiful, seafood is good for the soul, it tastes better by the water, go, pay, you’ll enjoy it, we always do

Awesome on the beach place! The drinks are super tasty and their happy hour specials are amazing. The parking is awful but that is not their fault as it has to do with the city and all of those dang beach goers, me included :) The food, you would think would be over-priced and not good, but it is the complete opposite! The food, we had a sushi roll, a salad and some raw bar items, is all really good! Yes, it is a bit expensive but you are totally paying for that nice view of the beach and fresh air! This will definitely be a place we stop every time we go to Rye beach in the summers!

Location, location, location… The 3rd star is for the beach view. The menu is full of overpriced, fried seafood. If that’s what you’re looking for, you’re in luck. The drinks are mostly frozen, sugary concoctions. Not terrible, but they become super heavy when combined with fried food– I guess I should have just had beer. Can’t beat the view of the beach, though. Especially if you don’t want to leave the park area.

Cute place, friendly staff. Perfect for a casual lunch at the beach. The food was good– just what you’d expect. Nothing fancy– burgers, salads, some seafood. The owner or manager was doing a good job keeping the staff on task(table 4 needs a refill, etc.)

Went back to Seaside Johnnies for a 2nd chance not even worth the trip. Very overpriced for less than decent seafood. The money youll spend here you can go to City Island for a month and have a great meal. Oysters so big you had to cut them in ½ clams were fishy shrimp scampi looked like something that came outta the frozen food section at stop & shop. Needless to say oh well never again if im gonna pay beyond top dollar for food ill go to City Island

Down By The Sea Is Where I’ll Be… Found Seaside Johnnies on a whim. I didn’t know this place existed right in Rye’s waterfront. Place is cute and it’s right on the strip and not far from Playland. We were seated outside and caught the sights and sounds of the beach. {Seaside Johnnies overlooks the beach goers down below}. We ordered mango margaritas, clam strips which were delicious and lobster bisque. We would’ve gone for the mussels, but Linda– our server mentioned that they were all out. If you want a good ocean side restaurant, and good seafood, definitely stop by…

Oh what to say… This place is definitely not about the food they serve… It is about something to eat while looking at the shore. That’s really it. You are better off bringing your own picnic food and a towel and eat on the sand! First of all, it’s so ridiculously expensive for what it is. More expensive than Manhattan. I had the shrimp salad, it was +$ 24 and there was just lettuce, a few veggies and 4 shrimps. 4 shrimps people??? We also ordered mediocre sushis, bbq chicken and rib combo, and stuffed shrimps with crab –that was actually pretty good, anything slathered in butter will do though haha! On the other hand, our waitress was super kind. Very accommodating to our party, very patient with all the personalities at our table and she kept on bringing the complimentary factory made garlic bread. The night was gorgeous, and while the food cost us about a leg, the scenery was exceptional, the breeze perfect and the sound of the water welcomed.

Loved the food here!!! The clams were fresh and perfectly cooled! Clams to die for Lobster perfect. HOWEVER the butter here is oily and disgusting. The waitress apparently didn’t like the 13 tip I left her meanwhile we were there less then 30 minutes.

Cool place for drinks near the beach– which is a novelty in this area since most other beaches don’t have bars/restaurants this close by. Bar staff is friendly, and always attentive. However, the place is wayyyyy overpriced for what they offer. $ 26.95 for a fried clam basket seems a little much, especially when you consider the quality of the food. Music is generally pretty chill, but the place itself needs some updates. When you consider the prices of the menu items, it’s conceivable that the owner can afford to make the necessary repairs and improvements on the establishment… and just chooses not to. Would keep this place as a spot for drinks only, and would skip on the food. In need of a good bite to bring to the beach? Stop at Playland Market up the road and get a delicious deli sandwich… and grab your beers here.

I was a little confused reading the reviews. I was expecting bland food, okay service, and underwhelming drinks. I didn’t get that at all. Everything we had was amazing! Our waitresses Carolina was so nice and the drinks were great! I will say I t is quite pricey but everything was very fresh! The view itself was worth coming.

Came for lunch to celebrate a coworker’s birthday. I kept it simple and had a cheeseburger with fries. The burger tasted bland — its always disappointing when a restaurant screws up a burger. The fries were pretty good, crispy but not too heavily fried. I believe the burger was about $ 14-$ 15, which normally would be okay, but because it wasn’t good, seemed overpriced. Service was okay, it got busy after our food came so she really didn’t check on us. When she brought out the cake for the birthday guy, she took his plate without asking but he wasn’t done eating. We felt bad he still left hungry. Even though my experience, and others based on their reviews, was mediocre at best, the view makes up for everything. The amazing view of the beach, the sun, the light breeze; must be beautiful at night.

Seaside Johnnies combines a beautiful view with lame customer service. Most menu items are priced much higher than what I’m used to seeing, but not with the same quality that I’m used to. I ordered the sashimi plate which came with a decent portion of each fish but cut much thicker than I’m used to. Not a big fan of raw tuna to begin with and these cuts were extra meaty/metallic just not too enjoyable. For some reason I wasn’t given soy sauce so I tried to grab the attention of a waitress. I finally caught her, asked for soy sauce, and never saw her again. The salmon was thick but enjoyable while the rest were palatable. Granted we were a larger table(9 people) but there weren’t many other patrons left and we had multiple staff members that eventually dwindled to nothing.
