Amazing ice cream, but their terrible service truly brings this place down. I went there yesterday evening for their watermelon sherbet, which is amazing. I ordered a small, with half watermelon for me and half orange for my boyfriend. When I got the ice cream I could only see the orange, and I assumed that the watermelon was on the bottom. Well I digged, and digged and the watermelon never showed up. It was a simple mistake, so I brought it back to the counter for a new one. I explained my situation and the staff behind the counter said that I could not order two flavors in a small. Ok… well. no one told me that – which I said to them. They were utterly confused about what to do, asking every staff member there what they should do. Eventually they gave me a new, correct one, saying that they would not give me 2 flavors in a small again. I said, fine, but this is your problem for not telling me. When they told me this they tried to get me to pay for it again. ABSOLUTELYNOT, I said. You messed up. The manager then came over and told me that I could have it, but that that would never do this again. FINE, I said, but don’t act like this is my fault. The issue is you lack of communication with your staff. If someone had told me I could not put two flavors in a small, I would have gladly followed the direction. Overall, just a rude encounter. Too bad too for such a good ice cream place. GETYOURACTTOGETHERLAGO– BOTHYOURSCOOPERSANDYOURMANAGER. #LEARNSOMEMANNERS

I stopped by here tonight. Service was horrible. I stood at the window for 10 minutes before they even acknowledged I was there. All college kids for staff standing around talking and ignoring the customers. I asked for a baby sized peanut butter cup in a cup. The portion was ok but it had way too much sugar in it and I threw more than half of it in the trash. Was going to go to Hodgies in Salisbury I just didn’t want to drive all that way tonight. Guess I should have just bit the bullet and took the ride for better service and ice cream. I won’t be back.

Fantastic ice cream made fresh! Only catch is that it’s a bit pricey but the portions are enormous. Bring you cash or visit the ATM inside because this cash only operation even has its high school and college workers doing the math on paper! It’s truly an amazing stop with lots of parking including some in a grassy area. It gets pretty busy during peak summer hours but generally the line moves quickly. Check out their unique special flavors on the board to break up your favorite ice cream routine!

Ice cream made on the premises. It does not contain high fructose corn syrup. I had a kid’s cone for$ 3.75 and it was huge … not like my head but enough ice cream for an adult. Nice place to sit out of the cold and weather while you enjoy your ice cream.

Ice cream was okay; not entirely impressed, but they do have a wide selection. That said, you really can’t beat the price for what you get. Beware — the ‘small’ and ‘large’ sizes drawn on the papers in the window are misleading! Large is approximately 4 scoops. Needless to say, my husband and I were stuffed after our ice cream run earlier this week.

Lago’s, I freaking love you. I will always love you. You might be my soul mate. You literally cannot get better ice cream anywhere else on the seacoast, and I wouldn’t be surprised if you couldn’t get better ice cream anywhere else in all of New England. Lago’s has enough flavors that you could try a new one every day of the summer and still have a few left over by the end of the season. Their portions are huge and their prices are insanely reasonable. Don’t want to sit around and eat your ice cream in the parking lot or on one of the picnic tables provided? You can buy pints and gallons of ice cream to go, so that you can enjoy it in the comfort of your own home. Maybe you’re not in the mood for conventional ice cream — that’s okay. Lago’s has floats, milkshakes, frozen yogurt, sundaes, frappes, soft serve, you name it. And it’s all delicious and affordable and guaranteed to leave you feeling satisfied and happy. Summer on the seacoast wouldn’t be the same without Lago’s.

Seconding the vote for epic. Amazing flavors — unique combinations — try the cappuccino slam. Real hot fudge and homemade whipped cream. YUM!

Tons of regular flavors and another dozen or so on the specials board. Home made. Huge portions. Decently priced. Plenty of parking. On route one — easy stop on the way from the beach.

Hands down the BEST ice cream you are going to get in the seacoast NH area. Their cookie dough ice cream is my absolute favorite. The service is great and the portions are very very big. My favorite place for ice cream!

Epic. Absolutely epic. Homemade ice cream that God Himself may have stirred. It’s life changing and cheap. If you are within 50 miles go to Lagos!

Best ice cream around! I refuse to go anywhere else because I’ve been so spoiled by Lago’s even though it’s a 20+ minute drive from me! The specials board always has the real winners but anything you get is going to be fantastic! Albanian Baklava and oatmeal cream pie are my all time favorites but honestly, even the french vanilla is superb! Staff is friendly and plenty of picnic tables to enjoy your ice cream outside!

Ice cream is my favorite food. I’d say I have pretty high ice cream standards as well, and Lago’s definitely makes my top 10 list of best places to get ice cream. Despite the fact that Lago’s doesn’t exactly have the best setting to hang out and eat your sweet treat, their ice cream is fantastic. The service is also great because even though there are constantly long lines, they move incredibly quick thanks to the awesome staff! As for my favorite flavors, coffee health bar yogurt has been a consistent favorite of mine. I always love to try the special flavors, which I would recommend picking a random one if you arrive and don’t know what to choose. You can’t go wrong with the classics but why not try something unique like wild blueberry or chocolate oreo?! My last note is to bring/wear bug-spray and you will be a happy, mosquito-blocked-ice-cream-consumer. If you forget, you will still be a just as happy consumer of Lago’s ice cream.

Free parking, creative flavors, extra Large cones… The inside area is not air conditioned and is frozen since the last make over in about 1987. There is zero ambiance… it is about the product. If you want local cones with a wee bit of ambiance try Ice house in Rye(check your maps since the bridge from Portsmouth will be closed until 2015.). The ice cream is from Richardson’s(worth a visit there) off Rt 114, Middleton, MA… easy to get to on the way to Boston. If you are going north, try Brown’s on the nubble, in York, ME, but only on nice days, as there is no inside,

Holy cow. And I do mean cow. If you love huge portions, go here. Ice cream was served in a large soda cup — and this was a small order at $ 4.25. Rum raisin flavor was good. But I loved their oreo cookie frozen yogurt. Tasted like Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie flavor(except with oreos) back 15 years ago when B&J’s was actually good. Fun stop which turned out to be our lunch!

I feel very qualified to write this post, because I have tried LITERALLY every flavor that is on the menu(and many on the specials – seriously, I dropped 150 last summer for this journey). I’ve been going to Lago’s with my family since I was in a stroller, and it has always been the best place for handmade ice cream on the seacoast. Amazing price for a large amount of ice cream(make sure to get the baby!) and so many spectacular and mouth watering flavors to choose from. My favorites: Salty Sailor Grape Nut Apple/Pumpkin Pie(on the Specials Menu) That being said, you can’t go wrong; If any flavor catches your attention, go for it, because you likely won’t be disappointed.
