Vermont Country Store

I would like to change my review. I don’t know what the problem was regarding changing my password (maybe a problem with their website?) but all is well now. After placing an order and getting the confirmation email I had a couple of questions. I called the company and the person on the phone was extremely accommodating. Kudos for restoring my faith in your company!

DON’T DO IT, DON’T DO IT, DON’T DO IT.
I bought the best Australian slippers, I love them. But using the sizing chart the Vermont Country Store provided they were too big. No problem???
Not so fast. These folks at the Country Store have the worst return policy I have encountered !!!
I paid $ 13.95 shipping and handling, and the return costs are…$ 8.95. Insult to injury.
$ 22.90 down the drain.
Life is too short. Zappos has the same products and a NO COST return policy and a no cost shipping fee. ZERO!!!
I feel like a fool, and now I know better. Live and learn.
BAD store policy deserves an honest write up.

I have never visited the store but am reviewing the store’s online business. I am surprised I ever paid the shocking prices this store commands for it’s merchandise. It’s marketing approach is appealing primarily to the nostalgic consumer by offering items that haven’t been generally available in years.
What has prompted me to write this review is not the unreasonable prices but the store’s reluctance to publish negative reviews by it’s customers. I purchased an item online and was requested to write an review. My review was polite and intelligently written but was NOT accepted and published because I rated the product negatively rather than positively.
In my opinion it is deceptive not to provide consumers with all available information most especially honest reviews by their customers.
This company will never see another penny of my money.

This could be the only store on the planet who actually sells what is described online and in their catalog. I have ordered several items from them and they have always been been just as nice as they say they are. They are easy to do business with, too.
Last fall I ordered a mattress pad from them and it got delivered to God only knows. Not because of them, but because fedex screwed up. I called them and within two days I had another pad at my door. No questions asked.
I do business with places I can trust. If I could give them ten stars, I would!

This place has stuff I didn’t even know I wanted! There are toys from my childhood here; toys I didn’t even know we’re still manufactured. Things such as: Fisher-​Price record players and Chatter phones (you know, the ones with the DIALS… rotary phones, for those who prefer the more technical term. :)) There are Wooly Willies, little green army men and those plastic parachute guys. So many memories to be had here!
I found a cat treat shooter. .don’t bother. For $ 15 bucks it doesn’t shoot well enough to buy it. They were having a tent sale when I was there. You MUST know prices or you will be unhappy with your over-​priced purchase. I got a couple of pair of pajamas for $ 10/​pair and felt I got a bargain. Other things were not as well priced.
Would I return? Sure! It was fun to check it out and have some laughs. Why not? Isn’t that what a vacation is for?

I just want to talk about how nice these people are. My mother-​in-​law died last week and in her last year she just went crazy with catalogue orders, ordering all sorts of stuff that just sat in the closet and that she never used. Some of that was from Vermont Country Store and when I called to explain the situation they couldn’t have been nicer, more helpful, or more understanding. They said that it was fine to send their items back so long as they were in the original condition we’d received them in, and that I could then get it credited back to her credit card, which the bank would then refund. My wife and I are just immensely grateful and how they responded. They just couldn’t be nicer people.

The Vermont Country Store has the most amazing, hard to find items and the items you didn’t know that you wanted! Things that you remember — if you are over a certain age, and things that you’d love to try. The shopping experience is the best whether online or on the phone. Their customer service people are incredible and provide a level of service that is second to none. From table linens to pickled fiddleheads (yes there really are such things), the Vermont Country Store has it all!

As we gear up for holiday shopping, even in these precarious economic times, I’d like to say how much I love this company! Yes, as of today, I am officially DONE with my gift quest, including some indulgences for myself.
With a way-​too-​tempting paper catalog, and a terrific website (
), us baby boomers can find sentimental favorites. Mine include fragrances I first sampled at the drug store in junior high (Windsong, Blue Grass). For avid sweet-​tooth nostalgia, try the ribbon candy for guilty pleasure.
Okay, the merchandise is on the pricey side, but if you want to evoke all kinds of memories, who cares? I’ll gladly eat some generic-​brand groceries to afford this trip down memory lane.
