The menu is rather small, but the food is nonetheless amazing. It always tastes fresh and the mango lassis are a personal favorite. It’s affordable and quick, however be aware that it is not a sit down restaurant. It’s take out only, as it is situated in a gas station. The portions are generous too, so that is a plus.

Great tasting Indian food in Rutland. The location sounds a bit strange since it is a gas station but the food nevertheless is really delicious & fresh! Being an Indian couldn’t ask for more in a town like this! Try their veggie biryani! Raita was good too. Chicken & lamb biryani were yummy but could add a few more meat pieces! Overall a good experience!

The menu selection is fairly small compared to going to a full restaurant, offering chicken, lamb and vegetable dishes. We had Chana masala, Shari panneer korma, veggie samosa and mango lassi. Notice in this list there is no bread– they were all out of it– serious disappointment there as i’d heard their bread was quite good. Here are my observations of Jia compared to most Indian places I have eaten at: Normally I do not order my food«hot» as it too spicy but I was told if you get it less spicy it is too bland & I found the hot to have a little kick like what I would think of as a medium. Their samosas are very large and you get one rather then the standard two. It comes with the brown sweet chutney which was tasty however I missed having the onion and green ones with it. The lassis were very orange and it is because they were heavy on the juice so they were thinner and sweeter then I am used to but it was good. My overall impression was the samosas were very good and were in a kind of grab and go style case. They can heat it there or do it at home like we did. Our entrees were still hot when we got home almost an hour later so that was a surprise. The panneer dish was quite good and I felt like the Chana masala was missing something but it was fine. The rice was cooked properly to my taste(some places it is too dry for my liking). The portions and prices were reasonable. I wasn’t blown away(& didn’t expect to be) but would have no issue eating here again especially if they had nan this time(that was a real bummer)!

Yes, this take out joint is embedded in a convenience store/gas station. Don’t let that scare you! The food is tasty and the portions generous. We ordered a Sahi Paneer Korma and a Chicken Vindaloo. I preferred the vindaloo whose sauce had a little more flavor and kick, but the veggie dish held its own — a little milder and sweeter. You’ll need to wait a couple of minutes while they put everything together, but go in order, fill your car’s tank, and then gather your order to take home and fill your own. Try their Indian«wrap/burrito» it has samosa tasting filling, pease and chicken — at $ 2 it is a deal.
