Williams Center For the Arts

Been coming here I was a little girl. I even worked here while I was in high school. The theaters are small but the price is cheap. I find this place to always be empty so crowds are usually not a problem. I am sure to keep coming back for years to come. Staff is young and should always be that way. The theater has a small budget but I love it anyway.

I go here mainly for the movies. It’s a good bet when you want to go local and save a few bucks. The concession stand is pretty good too. Been to a few kids’ birthday parties and for the 8 and under set, it’s worth it. I do think the place could use a facelift, though.

This is a great theater! Small, yes, but not crowded and overloaded with people. Good sound and picture quality especially considering its size. A great place to take the kids. It’s quaint, and the prices are reasonable… even refreshments! Yes, they do have high school kids working the stands but they are clearly working to save for college. I’ve had birthday parties there and all the workers were great! Definitely try it for quality and price!

I’ve been coming here for years. You won’t expect it but the screen and sound is better than most small town theaters. Not to mention they have a great first run movies and you cannot beat the $ 5 Monday special!

Great theatre to catch a movie with the kids (or on a date!) No crowds, cheaper ticket prices clean and quiet! Watch a movie and then walk up to Park Ave and eat at any of the excellent resturaunts that are close to the theater.

Um, if you’re going to hire snippy high school students, at least lock your doors.
I walked in one day with my phone, because it died, and went to the area downstairs with the popcorn to charge my phone. The Williams Center For the Arts has been around since I was a little kid, and to be fair, I hadn’t been back in a while, but the doors had always been open for people to wander through. The movies were not accessible without a ticket anyway.
But as soon as I plugged my phone in and sat down, thinking of which movie to watch, some of the employees who were sitting around a table doing nothing started to mumble at me.
«What are you doing there?»
«Excuse me?»
«What are you doing there?»
«Charging my phone. I haven’t decided yet whether I’ll see a movie.»
«Blahbluehbluhgbluh.»
“Huh?”
“Is there a problem?”
«What problem?»
«You’re not allowed to be here unless you have a ticket.»
«Oh, you weren’t very clear about that. It didn’t used to be that way.»
«It’s always been this way. We were perfectly clear.»
The little girl must have been all of 16.
Listen, little girl, it HASN’T always been that way. I literally watched movies here before your were born you little TW*T. Maybe if you learned how to enunciate, you’d have a better job than attendant at decrepit movie theater.

watched the advengers last nite it was a good movie. cheap prices, only problem was they didnt have alot of parking.

This is essentially an architectural «wrapper» for the old Rivoli theater, which apparently was a 1920’s vaudeville stop for Abbott & Costello and the Glen Miller Orchestra. The Wife and I took in a showing of «Coraline» at the cinema attached to this center, and after the show we explored the old Rivoli.
It must have been something in the twenties. We could see the beautiful chandelier, the woodwork, the outlines of the old dimensions. Sadly, we could also see where the other fixtures are now missing, and how time and consequent ownership have changed its character.
Still, the potential for greatness here exists. We could see how easily the venue might be transformed into an elegant cocktail lounge for local gatherings, and certainly the theater itself is not far from being restored if that were financially viable.
As for the movie theaters, a decidedly add-​on and impromptu look about it, definitely low-​rent, but clean screening rooms and excellent sound make it a sleeper pick for seeing a movie away from the multiplex crowd. Definitely a location we’ll be returning to see.
