San Antonio loves Old Post BBQ! Best BBQ, delicious twice baked potato salad and an amazing hot BBQ sauce option! If you haven’t been here make it your next stop for your family dinner.

Great costumer service, excellent food, great prices! Recommend the Jumbo Special, 2 sides, and a Free Drink for $ 9.80! Can’t beat that!

The sweet potato fries alone are worth the 5 stars, but this place knows how to serve a plate of barbecue. The sauce is excellent and as if that’s not enough, they have the best catfish in town. If you can’t decide, they serve a combo of barbecue and catfish that won’t break your wallet. The seating area has an awesome vintage Southern barbecue atmosphere as well. Don’t miss out.

$ 6 for a puny pulled pork sandwich. Sauces were pretty good. I was given a sample of brisket and it was cold. Aka not cooked today. What else could I expect from a place barely hanging on? Not enough business to sell out of meat daily so it’s saved and reheated for the next day(dryer). I’ll try it again in 5 more years

This is a good place to eat. Since it came under new ownership the environment and the food have improved to the point that it is one of my favorite places to eat. Highly recommend the chef salad with smoked chicken, but it is all good. Family owned and they seem to be great people. I took my elderly father there sometime back and he loved it and he is bluntly honest about his barbeque.

The brisket sandwich is out of sight. Everything was priced fairly, and you get big servings. I will be back every time I’m in town! Love it!

We haven’t lived in R’ville in a while and used to avoid Old Post, but we heard that they were under new mgmt., so we gave it a shot. The Good: — Price: more than fair for what we got. Specials were great. — Ambiance: smokey and nice. Don’t miss the crappy Coca-Cola junk strewn everywhere by the old owners The Bad: — The rest of the food. Wife got ribs that were too sweet and fatty. All of our sides were disappointing(cole slaw, potato salad, beans, & fried okra). Sadly, we won’t be returning. I’d rather drive the 40 minutes to eat Whole Hog Café in Conway.

I thought Old Post BBQ was pretty good. My hubby and I stopped in randomly on our way through town and thought the jumbo sandwich lunch special was a good deal. The meats were good, sauce was fine, and I especially enjoyed their warm potato salad topped with cheese. Sure, it was probably microwaved, but it was great. The service was friendly and attentive.

I have been in here several times, farthest from the REAL thing. Not only this place in this small town but they do not serve fresh B-Q, turns out they all cook 1 or 2 times a week then when your order, they warm it in a Micro-wave. TERRIBLE

There is no way I’d call this BBQ! Beef was dry, pork was greasy and the smoke turkey looked like pressed meat and hat no taste! Saw a review that raved about the banana pudding; don’t waste your money. And to top things off they serve garlic Texas toast! Do these people know what BBQ is? They need to go to Hill Country in Texas and they might learn something! Thumbs down – don’t go here.

How much variation can there be in barbecue? In Russellville, there seem to be three well-liked BBQ joints. The Pudgy Pig is, by far, the nicest, offering a clean and contemporary atmosphere, some creative sides, and several different sauces. Fat Daddy’s might be the most unconventional, being housed in a gas station. But the Old Post is what I think about when someone says barbecue. On each of my three visits, the counter help have been friendly and courteous. The sauce here, in my opinion, is the best in Russellville: sweet, spicy, and nearly the consistency of caramel. The restaurant looks as if no one’s moved a thing for thirty years – for better or worse. While I think the Old Post has the best sauce, they may have the worst cole slaw. That’s not to say that it’s bad, just that it lacks the flavor you get at Pudgy Pig. But all is forgiven when you get around to the banana pudding, which is topped with fresh banana slices and Nilla wafers. On second thought, just ditch the slaw and order two sides of banana pudding with your barbecue and you’ll be a happy wo/man.

When we want BBQ this is where we go. They have great food and we always like to top it off with the bannana pudding.
