So me and my lady were on our way up to big bear had to make a pit stop to get chains and something warm to drink … ended up staying and eating some amazing home cooked style food and amazing service and even got offered to get help putting chains on … will be back for another peanut butter shake!

Excellent food. Excellent service. We ate here twice today. Lunch time was swamped with people driving in on new year. Dinner was more peaceful. Both times the food and service was great. We met the owner at dinner and he told us the story of how his family came to buy the restaurant. It’s good to see hard working and dedicated families succeeding. Bring your patience during the day, it’s worth the wait.

New Years Day means plenty of traffic from LA into Big Bear. The gridlock is definitely making Old Country a mint, with road weary diners. When a 2 hour drive into the mountains turns into 4 hours, it makes you hungry. I’m glad Old Country was the first food place to pop up in our search. Place was busting at the seams. Choosing to sit at the counter saved us a half hour of waiting. The order: Bacon and egg sandwich with hash browns — nicely done and did the job Half order of French Toast — this add-on disappeared quickly Side order of rice and beans for the little guy — usually picky eater demolished the plate Service is friendly and quick. If I ever brave the traffic nightmare again, I will definitely stop off at the Old Country Coffee Shop and Diner.

This coffee shop is exactly what a coffee shop should be. A place for the big and hot fresh breakfast with eggs, hash browns, breakfast meat and a big cup of joe. Got back from Tennessee and boy did I have a new found appreciation for this place. After 30 years of mountain living and traveling this great nation this place sets the standard by which all coffee shops are judged. Not fancy schmancy or a interior designers delight but the consistent ability to deliver the goods for a filling and satisfying meal. Basic lunch and dinner menu but that’s what I what. To look at my empty plate and say«well there you go» and not have to shell out big bucks for small food. Local or just passing through hot fresh food any type of weather or season. Family friendly and good old have it your way service.

I grew up coming to this café and the food here is still great! Whenever we go back to running springs, we always make sure to stop here.

Good food, old country feel. Relaxing country kitchen. ;) The tacos and mexican food are the best in running springs. I like authentic mexican food. This taco shell rocks.

Great food & great price! Chili verde is the best, all their food is great. They have really good Mexican food. The cheeseburgers are always over done no matter what you tell them. If you like cheeseburgers order the ¾ ponder its way better than the other ones. Family owned & ran. It’s a great place, must try & you’ll be back for sure!

Great breakfast … the name suits the place perfectly; it’s not fancy inside. The servers are wonderful. The food is above average. We always recommend for a good breakfast on the mountain.

I ate here when I had some down time on a job I was doing on Pali Mountain. The staff are so nice here. The service was good and the food was comparable to most diners. I enjoyed myself. My food was cooked how I ordered it. I will be going back when in town.

Good, down to earth food. Delicious but occasionally greasy. In all the good ways. I go here a lot, but breakfast is my favorite. Biscuits and gravy. Bacon. Hashbrowns. Yummy!

I have eaten at the Old Country Coffee Shop many times, and have always been happy with the food and service. The waitresses are personable, as are the gentlemen who own the restaurant. They remember you and ask after you. Whether I have my favourite country omelette with country fried potatoes, or a burger or something Mexican, it is always piping hot and delicious — and there is plenty of it(hey, I’m a guy, so this is important!). The fact that the Old Country Coffee Shop is so popular with the locals should tell you that the food and service are great. Hmm, I’m feeling hungry…

Excellent breakfast! The food was cooked as ordered, the wheat toast is so good and the staff is really friendly & accommodating! This will be our new stop on the way up or down the mountain to Big Bear!

Great place to stop for breakfast on the way out of Big Bear. I had the New York Steak and Eggs. They cooked it exactly as I requested and I enjoyed it. The staff are polite and helpful and the prices are very reasonable. They serve breakfast all day so you’re covered if you’re a late sleeper.

We came here for breakfast after the snow storm, and the place was packed. The trend for the weekend was that every place we ate at was super packed, super busy, short-staffed, and customer service lacked. This place was no different. Though the quality of the food, and the quick service made up for it all. The biscuits and gravy was some of the best that I have ever had at a café in a long time. The waitress was very accommodating, as well. Will be back!

Walk in with no one to greet you — first come first serve– place was busy — good sign — after 25 minute wait we got 2 seats at the counter. Nice young lady served us coffee– sarcastic waitress took our order. Came out quick enough and mine was great– although I asked how many eggs in the omelette and she said 4, I asked if I could have 2 and she said– look around — if the wheel ain’t broken don’t fix it?!! I could have 3 eggs! Ok that was a first! The chicken fried steak was undercooked — YUK — let the waitress know her response was– not my fault and handed us the check and walked away. Apparently we were done and did not want anything else? Not quite the answers I was looking for! I asked if she took it off the bill and again, with sarcasm, she said yes– did I look at the bill. Overall experience — poor — would not go back.
