Roystonian is another little cafeteria-style country kitchen serving up southern food staples. They also include a dine-in menu, but most seem to prefer the buffet. Food wise they always have fried chicken on tap. Even if it’s not in the buffet window, it’s somewhere. You probably won’t be looking at a lot of healthy or vegetarian choices. Most of everything has meat in it somewhere. They have some decent small salads though, and they serve fish and hush puppies occasionally if you’re more a fish person. Quality-wise I have came on days the buffet just wasn’t my cup of tea, and have had some not so great items in the past… here’s looking at the squash. A small picture of what else they serve includes sweet potato soufflé, cream corn, most country veggies, fat back, fish & hush puppies, salmon patties, various puddings and cakes. The staff also tends to be the same group everyday, but they’re a friendly bunch. Décor– simple. These guys have been around for a long time, and probably one of the more decent restaurants to grab at least brunch in the Royston area if you hate fast food. Prices aren’t bad either, and the sweet teas great.

If its a sit-down breakfast you’re looking for in the greater Royston area, here’s your spot. You can’t go wrong with fresh eggs from right down the road, bacon from local farms and scratch made biscuits. Nothing wrong can be said about a nice, dive-y breakfast joint like The Roystonian. Simple. Plain. Expected and comfortable. Definitely all of the menu regulars here. Eggs. Grits. Pancakes. Biscuits…you know it by now. Note: if you’re a vegetarian or a vegan, good luck. Happy Roystonianing!
