Fantastic place — customers are fun, staff is amazing and the energy is great! I’m also partial to pinball, and they have Metallica Pinball!!! Drinks were generous too(not over the top — John Taffer would be proud!!)

Not necessarily a dive bar, just a good olé hole in the wall. I came here after hearing about it for years from my late father, it was exactly as he said it’d be. Maybe I got special treatment, maybe I’m a little biased, but its definitely one of my favorite places. The burgers are great(hole in the wall specialty), the season fries are fabulous, especially if Rick makes them. Always good music, good people. I always walk out of there with a smile on my face. Ask for Rick or Kris, they’re the best Inn Place has to offer.

What happened? I love the Inn place as a low-key, local, non-pretentious dive bar. The last time I went with friends, it was just the opposite. The juke box was off, the staff was playing their choice of top 40 dance club music, and there was a bouncer at the door. We were all disappointed. Please stay true to your roots! Royal Oak doesn’t need another place that plays awful top 40 dance music!

I went there 3 months back. It was a very small place, unlike my expectations. Seemed Danky, beers was ok so was the food. Only one pool table and it was very close to a table where people sat. Always had to request people to move so we could play a shot. Not planning to go back.

This place. Is. An absolute joke. Came to karaōke, turned down at the door. Was judged at the door. Was a bunch of dorks anyway. Awful crowd.

Fun neighborhood dive bar in a town that’s becoming more and more corporate and saturated with crowds. Come here for a beer and a game. I wouldn’t come for the food.

I’ve only been here twice so perhaps i need to give it another shot. The first time I was with a group of 6 and the«server», with a paper boy hat, wanted nothing to do with us. We asked him what beers were on tap and he snickered, rolled his eyes, then mumbled the list very quickly. We were all taken back by his attitude. He dropped off our drinks and went behind the bar to cook, the server who replaced him was a lot better. I will say he knew what he was doing in the kitchen. The food was pretty good. My second trip, same dude, same attitude, same paper boy hat, same draft list mumble… he dropped off our drinks and never came back, he passed by often tending to the table behind us(his friends we think), walking by our table very quickly without eye contact, avoiding our«um.can we get a menu» signals. There we sat with empty drinks for 25 minutes as he started cooking again. The bartender came out to see if we needed anything. Nope, got the $ 13.502 drink tab and went somewhere else. I guess im not inn enough for the inn place.

I use to really love this place. My husband and I come here a lot for the karaōke. We moved and hadn’t been there in awhile and were waited on by someone new. I have to say there service has gone way down. We came here to celebrate my birthday. I asked the waitress for a drink that they had had in the past. She said she had been there six months and had never heard of it. I asked the bartenders and they hadn’t either. That is fine, I get it, things change. What I did not need was her snipey comeback«That’s what I thought». Seriously? I don’t care if the drink is not longer available, but I am still a customer and getting pissy because I asked the bar staff is really immature. My friends also bought me a beer which I never received. The waitress claimed she had already brought it out when I was still working on the one another friend had bought me. We won’t be back, and neither will the 15 other people that came in to help celebrate. I don’t like to spend my money at places with surly wait staff.

The Inn Place is a small bar set apart from the downtown Royal Oak scene. I’m not sure if I would put it into the dive bar category, it may be too clean for that with no grizzly old guys at the bar. The bartenders do a good job with the drinks and the prices are not quite as high as other spots in the area. The service is also consistently good. Glasses are cleared, waitresses check in to make sure you have what you need. I’ve never tried the food, the menu appears to be your standard bar menu. I’m not a big fan of karaōke but I have been here a few times during their karaōke nights and it ended up being fun. Overall, a good, laid back bar.

The only reason this place was worth going to was due to the amazing staff… there’s never been a manager on duty, and now that the entire core staff has been let go, the«manager» doesn’t even know how to cook what’s on the menu and is promoting«grown and sexy» nights with guests from downriver. What a waste of a great neighborhood bar!!! If you’re looking for a sub-par neighborhood bar experience, or if you’re looking for the manager who’s profile you saw on Scruff or Gridr, then this is your place. Otherwise, choose Gus’ or Ye Old.

Been coming here for years, and it’s not hard to understand why: it is a great dive. The drinks are cheap and made heavy(which I respect), the service is prompt, the patrons are nice(except that one dumb biker who was rubbing against my girlfriend that one night), the décor is usually always lively and celebratory of the seasons, the jukebox is legit, yada yada yada. The bar is a solid half mile away from the other bars on Main Street, which is cool. It’s like its own little world; a smaller sized venue that is for those who want to have good conversation and drink good drinks. If you want to dance, don’t come here. If you go out with the sole intention of trying to meet a member of the opposite sex(and possibly hook up with them), this isn’t the right place. But if you and some friends(or even you alone) want to relax, kick back and shoot the sh*t, you can’t go wrong with the Inn Place. Oh, and the mannequin by the door still fools me to this day.

What’s not to love about a place where you can drink at 7am? Ok, that makes me sound like a huge alcoholic, but after working a long night sometimes you need a beer or three. And this is the place to do it at. Place is small, but definitely not divey(no sticky floors here). It’s got that neighborhood bar feel, which I love. The bartenders are really nice and accommodating. Especially, Alex in the morning. she’s awesome! They have all your essential bar items. a pool table, darts, jukebox and a few TVs. There’s really nothing to not like about this place. I can only vouch for the breakfast, but even that’s good. Bottom line, if you want a nice chill night/day, away from the dbaggery of the rest of downtown royal oak bars, you should check this place out. And also, ping pong on Tuesdays.

This is just a great local bar whether you’re a regular or not. The staff is great, there’s a decent beer selection and they were nice enough to make us some fries after the kitchen had closed. They have coin slot pool table that’s decent to shoot on, and the peeps here are pretty friendly. One of the better chilled out spots in the area if you want to be off the strip.

I would give it way more stars but the waitress who works there is easily the rudest server I’ve ever had. I live close by so I’ve been up there several times and she has served me several times. To give you an example, I ordered a Long Island and she brought it to our table with several other drinks. I asked her if the Long Island was with one with the lemon. She sneered at me and said«Obviously». I would love this bar if they fired her.

We come here for the karaōke night — so much better now that there’s no smoke! Also, the volume was dropped to a dull roar, so we didn’t leave with ringing in our ears like we did a few years ago. It’s a great place for karaōke, but be warned — there’s only one server outside of the bar and there’s very little room for her to navigate, so you won’t see her often.

First off, lets say right out., This is a bar. It’s small, but also clean and has a small menu. However the items on the menu are all handled well. I have lived near this place for over 15 years, and never went in until recently. Now I go in frequently. The food is good. I have had some darn tasty burgers here. They also have a Fried Bologna… yes it sounds weird, but is GOOD! I also had the chicked strips. Nothing special, but not bad. Probably from a frozen bag, but that is not a problem when dealing with a place where the grill is part of the bar. I mean it. The bartender is also manning the grilll! Right there! In front of everybody! This makes them keep the place clean and they handle their food properly, and I have been very comfortable with what I’ve seen. They also have an early breakfast service. Hash browns, french toast, bacon, etc. for all those people who work the night shift and are headed home at 7am. I have yet to get in for breakfast, but will try it soon. Also the staff has been great. Friendly and helpful. Never seeming like it’s a pain to take care of you. Many have been there for a long time(15+ years). My only regret is that I didnt start going here earlier.

Came here with a group of Unilocalers for a particularly rawkus evening of karaōke. It was a weeknight(Thursday) but the place was still hoppin’. It was packed just the right amount – not too crowded that it was uncomfortable but not too empty that it felt like you were the only person singing all night. The groups that were also there that night were allllll about the country karaōke. I’ve been told that this is not a regular occurrence but I’m not 100% positive about that. Seeing as how I’m not the biggest country music buff I wasn’t singing along to every song but the bar was still fun and the patrons were affable. If you’re a country fan it might be worth checking out. The bar is small but cozy. It was decorated for the holidays and I got a kick out of the lovely Christmas lights and enjoyed checking all the displays out. Jeffrey B and I even looked up where to get the light up peacock online later that night. I’ve gotsta have it! The drinks are cheap and strong. I’m pretty sure most folks in our party were buzzin’ after one or two. I had a pretty good gin and tonic for just $ 4. I was recuperating from illness so I didn’t indulge in anything else but the one drink I had was solid. Nothing fancy but good for a dive bar. Our waitress was AMAZING. I loved her. I’m blanking on her name but she was lovely; really friendly and had a great sense of humor. She even gave me a scratch ticket just to be nice(I didn’t win). The karaōke guy was also awesome and ran things smoothly and very extremely organized. The machine was very fancy – the catalogue is on a computer and you rifle through and sign up that way. I kind of missed flipping through the book at my seat hoping something would pop up at me but it was a nice way to embrace technology. 2012! You’re so crazy!
