Gross, shame on me, no people eating at 6:00 pm what was I thinking? Coconut shrimp; old oil, almost burnt, grilled wings? No… deep fried. Tasteless caesar salad. Burger; congealed mayo, disgusting. Yesterday’s tomatoes, dried out meat. The water and wine were good:) pass folks.

This was probably one of the worst meals I’ve had in a long time. We had Calamari which was ok. The fried artichoke hearts tasted like nothing. For entries we had the Cuban sandwich and the mahi mahi fish and chips. The sandwich and the fish were ok. The chips part was sweet Potato mash. Tasteless coleslaw. The side of broccoli was probably the best part of the meal. Don’t get me started on the worst Margarita. We kept getting pawned of between 3 servers. The one that ended up staying tell the end was very nice hence two stars instead of 1.

Worst service we have experienced in the area. It was a slow Tuesday at 7pm. Facts: 1. No silverware until we asked(after food delivered) and 1 of 3 people asked if they wanted a drink refill. 2. Food came out in random order. 35 minute wait for lettuce wraps and kids meal. Other persons food was long gone. 3. Drinks, app, ind meals, bill all delivered by diff servers. Not sure which was ours. Lots of people standing around though. 4. Manager? Stopped by to ask what was wrong. It was early so list was shorter. He never apologized but said«Oh!» Then disappeared never to be seen or heard again. 5. Artichoke dip and chips extraordinarily greasy. Chicken wings good but not«jumbo». Lettuce wraps good but not worth the wait. Kids meal had scraps for fries. The kind you leave at the corners of the McD’s box when you toss it. 6. Charged extra for sauce that never came.

I have been going to Mr B’s for almost 2 decades — with both work and my family — I will not return until ownership changes. Lately, my family would go specifically because they have gluten free pizza which helps us to accommodate by chronically ill child’s very special diet. Unfortunately, the last three times we have went have been completely abysmal service wise. This last time was more disappointing then the rest. My wife was attending a class so I decided to take my two young children(7 and 1) for dinner. After arriving and being sat down, we waited for 20 minutes and were approached by no one to take our drink order. I got up with my 1 year old daughter and walked over to the host station. The hostess(An exceptionally pleasant young blonde lady with tattoos) immediately jumped to help us and took our drink order and food order — this was the last redeeming moment of our visit. After she brought our drinks, service was handed back to our absent waiter(who we had not met up to this point) and the ridiculousness continued. We waited for another 45 minutes and not a single soul visited us to ask if we were ok, needed additional drinks(our drinks had been empty for at least 20 minutes), or brought our food. My daughter began screaming uncontrollably at this point because she was starving. I asked for a manager who immediately came over. She was obviously frustrated and became defensive immediately. Oddly enough, once she showed up to our table, our waiter magically appeared and offered several excuses to his manager(without first apologizing, or saying anything period, to us) including that he had a big party and what was to be expected of him? At that point, I requested the check and left. Not one single apology was offered to me. For what it’s worth, you have lost a customer who brought those large parties in for lunch with his business and you have eliminated one formerly viable choice for dinner for a family who is struggling with a child who is chronically ill. If this is the sign of how things are with new ownership, I will look forward to the new business that ends up occupying Mr. B’s location on Main street in Royal Oak.

We went here tonight for dinner on date night for some pizza because we wanted something different than Crispelli’s, which we had frequented about once a week for the past four weeks. HUGEMISTAKE! We walked in and had to ask the bus boy where the hostess was because we wanted to be seated at a table-strike 1. I remember the pizza at the Mr. B’s in Rochester being really good, but this pizza was awful. The crust was dry and it tasted like a stale cracker, there was way too much cheese, only a few slices of pepperoni, and barely any sauce-strike 2. It took thirty minutes for us to get our food and our waitress was not engaged. Every time we asked for something, such as crushed red pepper, she gave us a blank stare like she didn’t understand what we were saying. I had to ask another waitress for our bill because I couldn’t find her any where-strike 3. The other waitress sent the hostess to our table and asked us who our waitress was, but we didn’t know because we were never got her name. In addition to our crappy pizza with pepperoni, onion, and green pepper, we ordered an arugula salad. The salad had no flavor and it was drenched in oil. The roasted pine nuts were a nice touch, but the oil over-powered everything and the apples must have been sliced a few days prior because they were not crisp. This was just an absolutely awful dining experience that cost us $ 31.30 and there is no way we would ever come back.

Wow, wow, wow! Let’s get straight to it… stopped in during my Wine Stroll — Here’s what we enjoyed: the Doc’s Crispy Artichoke with Lemon Lime Aioli. Phenomenall!!! The flavor of the Artichoke was a game changer… that hint of Lime grabs you first, then the light crunch — Never would have Guessed It… one of the best Artichoke samplers I have tasted… The Red Wine selected for the Stroll was mediocre, not sure of the other wine choices… The atmosphere is very modern and Pubish…

I use to visit this place/pub frequently in the past. It was one of my favorite places to come grab a drink, play some pool, and then in the evening dance with some friends. I recently visited this place this past Saturday. Immediately upon walking in, they checked my ID but then told my friend and I to step to the side and we had two huge bouncers pat us down not once but twice for any weapons.(Was not expecting this in Royal Oak). Once inside it was crowded and we had to wait several minutes for a drink. We could not find a place to sit, or let alone stand without being bumped into left and right. Drinks, I felt were watered down and not that good considering the price. It felt ghetto inside. My friend noticed one of his friends who happens to be a bartender there and he had informed us a lot has changed. I would not come here again.

I’m giving this restaurant 3 stars not because of the food but because the service was just terrible. Our server was Jenna. She forgot to put our appetizer in and brought our meal out and never apologized when I asked. She just said, «I forgot, do you still want them?» She never refilled our drinks and my mom had asked for another iced tea and that was never brought to her. Our food was really good, we had wings and sandwiches. We had been done eating for over 10 minutes until she brought the tab. She’s a bad server, hope she gets better

Can I give zero stars? I’ve eaten here twice and even for bar food it’s awful. The first time I split wings with a friend and had a burger. The wings were soggy and tasted bland. The burger was ok, but I don’t know how you get so much grease one the top of the bun. The second time I tried ordering from them and should have known better. How do you mess up chicken tenders? Moreover, how do you make the breaking soggy, but somehow overcook the actual chicken? It’s almost impressive how bad they were. Gross.

Went there for some pool and drinks and stayed for the dancing and music. Great DJ mix on saturday nights. We had blast. The drinks were well poured and the bartenders were nice. Even the other patrons were polite and fun to hang out with. I will definitely be back here. There was a great atmosphere for fun. Part bar, part arcade, part pool hall. It’s got all you need for a fun night.

I was here on their pool night on a Monday. Their kitchen closes really early on a Monday night(other nights may be the same, I’m not sure), but that was okay. Cheap drinks(which weren’t just bud light or miller) and some fun playing pool. After the drunk people left that is. I walked in with my friends and there was a couple using one of the pool tables, but they weren’t using the pool sticks, they were just banking the balls off of the table for about a half hour. Nonetheless, we still had a great night because the group of drunks cleared out pretty quick after we got there.

I went with a friend to grab some lunch. From the beginning, I knew this wouldn’t be a good visit. My friend ordered a mountain dew and received a pepsi. I ordered a turkey reuben and received pastrami. The sandwich was OKAY. It was really greasy and had a weird taste to the bread. At the end of our meal, the waitress was standing around and we had to waive like frantic idiots to get her attention to get the check. For the price and the low-level service, I wont’ be back. Maybe it is different to go when you’re sloshed and want to get drunk but I won’t be back for lunch or dinner.

Came in with a group of ten. Ordered a beer and chicken strips. Waiter spilled my beer on my leg(not a big deal). However it then took over an hour to get the food. Horrible service. Waiter came to table two time with in one hour. When spoke to other staff. They laughed and said yeah he’s a spaz? Really? After the hour wait for the food we then asked for silverware. After ten minutes we finally got silverware. Some of the worst service I’ve ever had period.

I’m giving my only star for the food. The service in Royal Oak is horrible. Was there Sunday night after the Lions game. First, the hostess wasn’t very friendly when we arrived. All she said was, «sit anywhere» with no smile or direction. So we sat by the pool table and ordered drinks & apps. Our waiter was a young man who really clearly didn’t want to serve us. Our drinks were so bad we sent one back and the wine came in a shoot glass. Our food(nachos & wings) were great! Didn’t take long and was nice & hot. Overall, We didn’t feel welcomed and I would not recommend this place to my friends and family.

This place is just not as good as it was back in the old days, but it’s not terrible either. The food is still the best part and it makes up for some of the low points. I got the chili recently and it was actually very good. The beer selection is decent but nothing to rave about. For some reason, I really liked the Rochester Red despite it getting very little love on most beer-rating sites. The service a couple of nights ago was just awful. Our waitress fluctuated between being mean, irritated or just plain neglectful. The ambiance has gone downhill as well. Overly loud bingo or something going on in the other room made it difficult to have a conversation and the place just looks run-down nowadays. Maybe the extra star is for the food or maybe it’s because of nostalgia, but its definitely not the Mr. B’s it used to be.

Food, always good. Bartenders, hit or miss. But the older gentleman at the back bar by the kitchen(been there since before I had hair on my sack) is always on point, cool to talk with too. Like the games, karaōke etc. Could use a light remodel, it’s becoming dated. Typical Royal Oak crowd(not a compliment) but overall good stuff. Been going here 19 years, that says something.

When we walked in, the hostess said there would be a wait, until the game that was at the time at half time was over, as it was a game day. No problem. We watched as three tables emptied out, then another. The hostess, Paige, seemed put out when the empty tables were pointed out to her. In fact, for a few minutes, she stood at the back of the restaurant seemingly avoiding us. After about 20 minutes, we gave up, and went a couple doors down to another place. I have heard how great Mr. B’s is, and I am not able to recommend this place.

Went here for a casual dinner on a Saturday night with a large group of 8 people. They accommodated us nicely and the service was quick and friendly. The restaurant is split into two sections, a bar(with pool tables) and a dining room. The décor in the dining room was nothing special but this is a casual place. The reason I am giving 4 stars is because I was really impressed with the food. I got a turkey wrap with sweet potato fries and both were delicious. I was expecting typical average bar food, but was pleasantly surprised. The wrap was uniquely tasty especially due to the tortilla itself which was toasted and probably one of the best tortillas I’ve ever had. The fries were also some of the best sweet potato fries I’ve had: they were thick and fluffy and seasoned with almost a cinnamon flavor(I’m not quite sure what it was really). Overall, my expectations for average bar food were really exceeded and I would love to go back to try more food.

I can’t remember the last time I wanted to leave zero stars. But this place deserves it. Horrible service. The place was not busy at all but everything took forever. It took at least 20 minutes for a couple drinks. Almost an hour for the food. Most things were cold once they arrived to the tables I just don’t get it. Don’t bother with the onion rings they’re nasty. Food was below par overall. What happened to this place? There are some many other places. Do yourself a favor go somewhere else.

Mr. B’s is always a hit or miss for me. I would say out of the Rochester and Royal Oak locations the Rochester one is the worst. On more than on occasion I have been left standing in the middle of the restaurant waiting for a table because none of the servers feel it is their job to set anyone. The atmosphere is extremely dark, like there are no lights on, and quite frankly a little sad. After waiting 25 minutes for a 2 top table on the upper deck at the Rochester location, my guest and I were ignored by every single employee that walked by. I got the attention of a server and she told me she would be right back… we never saw her again. That was the second time I walked out of a Mr. B’s location. But sometimes going to Mr. B’s isn’t so bad. Recently, and friend and I stopped by for a drink on the patio at the Royal Oak location on bike night. The server was a little show on the drinks but other then that I have no complaints. You really have to lower your standers when deciding to eat or drink at a Mr. B’s.

I really want to like this place, given how many of my friends have such fond memories of coming here«back in the day.» I just moved here and have come for dinner twice and just can’t seem to find the same charm. The décor in the main dining room is just tired. They have boards outside saying come try the new Mr. B’s, we make our own sauces etc. While that may be true they need to focus on some atmosphere and actual food. The burgers are good, but let’s face it, good burgers are not that hard to find. I ordered calamari last night and as soon as it hit the table I could smell bad seafood. ICK. It was drenched in sauce and inedible, it went back. I will say(and this is where I think Mr. B’s should focus) that we had the chicken lettuce wraps also last night and they were delicious. I would go get them again. They were fresh, unique, homemade, and presented well. Our friends had a nice fresh arugula salad, it looks very good and they thought so. Not that Mr. B’s needs to focus on healthy food just an updated menu. If they want to continue to compete they are going to have to focus on the atmosphere too. In their defense they opened up the two dining rooms and that looks great, but it needs some more work before I’m becoming a regular.

Wow, what a disappointment. I used to be a Mr B’s fan 15 – 20 years ago and loved going to all of the restaurants(Utica, Rochester, Royal Oak). We even had our wedding rehearsal dinner at Mr B’s Rochester we loved the places so much! This was, sadly, not the Mr B’s of old. I used to love the Nacho’s at this location — they were served on a large pizza platter, had mounds of cheese, beef and the other goods — and were simply too much to eat. Not so any more — after a long delay, we received a small plate with a small number of tortilla chips and a mound of meat. Asking for more chips resulted in another 10 minute wait before getting a handful more chips — ridiculous. What was worse was that the cheese was hardly melted, and it seemed like someone just fried up some hamburger meat and threw it on — no flavor at all. For lunch I had the classic«Slopburger», which was fair. However, the seasoned fries that I remember so fondly were hardly seasoned — and were lukewarm. My daughter’s cowboy burger was much the same. My other son’s quesadilla was completely forgotten. After we asked about it, 10 minutes later he received something that was absolutely overflowing with grease — almost like they tried to rush it out without properly preparing it. Service was incredibly slow — we were there over an hour for lunch at 2pm on a Sunday(place was empty). On top of that, the food was just bad. This was near the worst experience I’ve had at a restaurant, and this was a place I used to LOVE!!! Be forewarned — this place is not what it used to be, and you should avoid it.

Mr. B’s has gone through a menu transformation this last year for the better. Every time I end up at Mr. B’s these days there is something new and tasty on the menu(pizza is delicious). I believe all the menu changes are due to new ownership. Not the old Mr. B’s :-( Went in for dinner on a Friday night, restaurant was half full and it took 50 minutes to bring a turkey sandwich and fries. Great beers on tap, but service was slow. Asked to have our order checked and was told«We’re dealing with a lot of big parties». Saw a few tables of 4 – 5, but nothing to justify the incredibly slow kitchen. Food tasted okay, fries tasted reheated and we’re not very hot. If you just want drinks, they deliver quickly. But the rest? YIKES.

I stopped in for lunch last weekend during a visit to the Detroit Metro area. It was nice out so we decided to sit outside. Originally we were seated in the sun so we asked to be moved to a table in the shade shortly after being seated. The staff luckily had no problem accommoding us. Our server was Amber and she definitely left something to be deserved with regard to the service she provided. She was just awful. She didn’t come to check on us, was extremely slow and honestly seemed overwhelmed at times. We had to flag down another waitress and a bus boy to request their assistance in getting her to return to the table. At one point she was helping a customer across from us and happened to be in the path of another server. The server just rolled her eyes and shook her head at Amber as she waited to get by. That spoke volumes to us and we began to feel sorry for Amber. I don’t blame Amber. I blame the restaurants management staff. It’s management’s job to evaluate an employees performance and some peop simply aren’t cut out for certain jobs. It’s not personal or demeaning. It’s simply business. But allowing subpar performers to staff a business is simply asinine. It wasn’t just Amber though. The entire staff seemed clueless for the most part. On two separate occasions a staff member came outside and asked the all the patrons if they had ordered the plate of food he was carrying. Are you serious? What kind of person doesn’t take the time to look at the seating chart before bringing out someone’s food? I don’t care if you are just paid to wash the dishes. That’s bad business anyway you slice it and once again a reflection of the restaurant’s management. We waited nearly forty minutes for our food even though the restaurant wasn’t crowded. When it finally did arrive the fries were lukewarm. I ordered a hamburger which didn’t have much flavor. It was a nice portion size, a good grade of meat and fresh. All that was cancelled out since the burger didn’t taste very good. But it was good enough. It was a beautiful sunny day so I chose to make the best of it. My friend had the chicken fingers and he thought they were ok. I took a bite of one and thought they tasted gross myself. During the meal Amber didn’t come to check on us. We had to have other restaurant employees track her down. It took forever for our check to be delivered to the table and an eternity for Amber to return once she did come to collect the payment. I’m usually a pretty easy going person but even I was beginning to get irritated. My friend and I couldn’t wait to just get the heck out of there.

The calamari here us the best I’ve ever tasted, and it’s consistent. The karaōke is good, but don’t expect to sing much, because everyone can sing, and everyone for the most part can typically carry a tune without sounding like nails on a chalk board, and some are really, really, good. Like rockstar good. The older male bartender has been there the longest, and is by far, the best. The younger bartenders are a bit snobby and negligent, but maybe it’s a Royal Oak thing? Beautiful, old-school atmosphere that can get loud at times, but typically it’s an ovation when a rockstar nails a song.

I’ve been here only once and I didn’t enjoy the atmosphere, the food is nothing to rave about, typical«a-ok» pub food, pizza is nothing special, just ‘meh.’. I was mainly here for the company and to have a drink, the bar is well stocked and the drinks came on time and my company was taken care of with drink. The music selection here was 80’s so I’m not sure if that is a regular theme or just the time that I attended, but my drinking comrades let me know that this was typical 80’s Mr. B’s fashion.
