I’m not sure if I should start with the black mold on the ceiling 10 feet from our table or the brown lettuce on the salad bar. The food is overpriced and not up to par. The salad bar was lacking and the brown lettuce is just disgusting. The water damage on the ceiling is concerning and the black mold is a health hazard. The service was the only thing good about this place.

Decided to give another try after about 10 years. Years ago I gave it a few chances but I was disappointed again and again. This time was different. The food was good. I had the prime rib and it was probably close to my top 10. After 40 years, that’s not bad. Will have to return and see if it was a fluke, let’s hope not. Salad bars a little lacking and service was almost bothersome, maybe she was new to the business.

If you’re a railroad buff, you’ll enjoy looking around here. If you’re a food buff, this isn’t the place for you. A dry, overcooked puck of a hamburger with no bun or fixings(yes, that’s how it came out) and some from-a-bag steak fries shouldn’t cost $ 8. Unbelievably sad.

My wife and I stopped here on our way back to the D.C. area and were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is off the road a bit, but when you pull up you know there is something special lurking inside. The inside was full of old memorabilia, it was like stepping back in time. I ordered the Beef Tips in Burgundy and my wife ordered the crab legs which were on special. The beef tips were some of the most tender beef tips I have had anywhere, absolutely first rate. My wife received four full crabs worth of crab legs and I had to help her eat them. The meal was absolutely fantastic. The only small complaint I would have is the salad bar, it is generic and not quite up to par with the quality of the food that is served. If they add some items they will have a winning combination. I will be back whenever I am traveling through the area again.

This is Southern food done right! Don’t expect a high scale place when you walk in, but the food is great and the people are welcoming. We had the Sunday buffet, and I thought everything was cooked perfectly. The only reason this didn’t get 5 stars was because my husband wanted more variety. What I say is quality over quantity though. Yum!

Best Sugar Free Pecan Pie: tastes like the real thing. Tom makes it with sugar free honey. So yummy!

Very average. Food choices are somewhat limited but adequate. Salad bar is pathetic. Some things are way overpriced. The quality of the food varies as to what you order I think. I’ve lived in Roxboro 25 yrs & my thoughts haven’t changed through the years. I been there several times but probably won’t go back.

If you think $ 8.95 for an 8″ salad plate plus a single trip restriction to a very basic salad bar is a good deal then this is the place for you. Also, much of the lettuce and broccoli had a brownish tint. In general, you’ll pay a lot more than what the food is really worth. This was our second(and now last) visit. The wait people are fine. It’s just the food.

Just ok. I had the fried shrimp/scallop plate. For $ 20 I think you can find a better deal elsewhere. Staff was attentive and quick. The salad bar had some weird things in it, some unidentifiable.

Awhile back, we are here and the lobster was still frozen and raw, and the steaks were overcooked. Like other reviewers, we were cursed and forced to pay. Many other things I could share about that night, but in a nutshell: stay far far AWAY from this restaurant. It used to be great. Now, it should be shuttered.

This is a fantastic place to eat lunch or dinner anytime. This locally owned place has everything about railroads on the walls. And it actually was a railroad station in Clarksville, VA and moved down to Roxboro, NC and has not one but two railroad cars on either side. On the menu is steaks, burgers, chicken, soups & salad. If you order a burger or chicken sandwich they have a buffet that you can pick items to put on it. They also have a salad bar. The prices on the menu range from $ 3.50 to $ 25.00. T-bone steaks are $ 15.00 Sunday to Thursday and on Sundays they have $ 10.00 lunch buffet including entrée, drink and dessert. Food B Staff A Décor A Location B Health Inspection Grade 92.5

I love this place. Great food and great service. Everyone is extremely friendly. Being from Roxboro, I have been coming here for quite a while. They changed ownership maybe two years ago. Sinc then and because I wasn’t in town very much, I hadn’t been here in a while. I went back last night and the food was just as good as I remember it. I currently live in New York City and am thus very used to having wonderful food. With that said, if this place were in NYC, I would still seek it out. Despite all of the positives, I think the prices may be a few dollars too much, and the salad bar was not as good as before. The salad bar just had shredded iceberg lettuce. Before the had bigger pieces of iceberg. Although they never have had mixed greens lettuce as far I can remember, it would be nice for them to have that. My favorite dish here is the chicken haimson. It is so flavorful. I love it. My parents like pretty much all of the steaks. I think this is the best restaurant in Roxboro by far.

I dined here, not by choice, today with some clients who chose this place for lunch. They bragged about how great the salad bar is so I was super excited. First, the place is set off the road in Roxboro where you could almost miss it for being just an old train station, which apparently it is. My dining companions who were from Roxboro told me that it used to be the train depot and that even the train car that is attached to the building is known to be haunted. That’s about as exciting as this place gets. We arrived at 12:15pm and stayed for a lunch meeting that lasted almotst 2 hours. We were one of 4 groups who dined here all day during the lunch«rush». The menu was limited with fatty/dried foods or steaks. I opted for the famous salad bar which was anything but… I HATE iceberg lettuce and unfortunately, there were no other choices. It reminds me of getting a side salad at a school cafeteria. YUCKO! So I wouldn’t embarass my clients, I continued as if it were hitting the spot. The salad bar literally had iceberg lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes, cheese, croutons, and 5 different dressings. Huh? Where is the fabulous bar? Luckly, I was able to order a chicken breast cut up to add to my salad but after I took a bite, it tasted like it had been marinated in pineapple juice which I also am not a fan of. The server was pleasant and didn’t bug us constantly but was attending and made sure we had refills. This is actually what allowed me to put give Clarksville Station 2 stars rather than 1. Maybe this place is happening at dinner. Maybe their steaks are the best tasting steaks in the county but I probably won’t revisit to find out. I went hoping to eat a healthy salad or any other healthy meal, and left starving wishing my poor choice of fast food would have won out. Oh well… you can’t win them all.
