Ordered a groom cake and it was great. The sweet potatoe thang was great. I recommend this place.

Rather pricey but design exactly as the pic we chose from the website gallery.
Taste was fantastic… a hit with party attendees.
Returning in a few months to order a Baby shower cake !

Ok; I have been hearing about this «Sweet Potato Thang» for 2 years. Since I love my sweet potatoes immensely, i have been trying to get here forever– We had a hard time finding the place but we did! It’s located behind Hubbards Restaurant. We walked in and the owner greeted us with a really big smile and offered us each a free slice of the sweet potato thang. My son does not eat sweet potato pie, but we convinced him to try the «sweet potato thang» and he was ‘IN LOVE” Trying to figure out to stop him from going into the kitchen… I bought 6 slices and he has eaten 3… this is a dessert that must be «savored»… my daughter says she never has to taste anyone’s else’s version of sweet potato pie! They are sold on the «sweet potato thang» which is the signature dessert of Absolutely Edible Cakes & Catering. They also do beautiful cakes for every occasion! I see that a lot of reviews are for the Sweet Potato Thang, which I’m sure is delicious. However this review is for a birthday cake. I expected more. Not perfection. Just more. The cake and decorations were just so cheap looking. The flavor of the cake was NOT what we ordered. The order was late. I would have complained at the time of pick up but when you’re rushing off to set up for the party, you need a cake! It was not what we wanted or what we ordered and was very pricey. Unfortunately, we will not be back.

I absolutely love THE SWEET POTATO THANG!!! I live in the Rowlett area and must say this place is a must stop on my sweet run. I have people tried to replicate and can not come close to the buttery crust and creamy filling. The owner is such a wonderful person… one day I came in and the credit card machine was down and I had no cash… she told me here just take it and pay me later… she didn’t know if I lived near or when I will ever come back. but I kept my promise and came back to pay her the next day she was really impressed with my honesty that she gave me another slice for free… this place definitely deserves 5 stars for THE SWEET POTATO THANG!

Owner is very friendly. Husband and I love the sweet potato thang. My brother tried it and, although he had hoped for a bigger size, he loved it. Highly recommend!

I went on a Thursday there were several friends? Employees there sitting around. I needed a birthday cake. 55 for a ½ sheet I thought was high I can get that from Tom thumb for $ 12. As I was about to leave the owner suggested the sweet potato pie. Good choice. Everyone loved it. you get what you pay for the taste was worth it : – )

I am a fan of the sweet potato thang… but the only cake ive ever ordered from there was pretty gaudy (tasted good though). My only real problem with them is that they can be hard to get ahold of and when I did get them on the phone they werent really friendly. But seriously. people are not lying about that sweet potato dessert. its good. Reminds me of pumpkin cheesecake. without crust.

Sorry to plagiarize you, Jessica, but wow. I had never heard of this business nor this confection until today, but wow. This incredible dessert is quarter sheet size (9×13″, at least ours was, I don’t know if they’re available in other sizes), and is just pure decadence. It’s very rich with a buttery crust; the filling is very smooth (no chunks), almost like pumpkin pie or cheesecake, but the taste is different from both of these.
I’m sure they have great cakes and who-​only-​knows what else, but whatever you do, try this dessert! It’s unbelievable.

Rowlett used to be my territory at work and one fine day I happened to stumble upon this bakery. Nothing fancy from the outside, typical bakery filled with wedding cakes and goodies. Nicest owner in the world. She did not buy what I was selling, but she did, however, tell me about her creation…

Honestly, I am not sure what was in this confection she gave to me. It tasted like baby giggles, puppy kisses, sunshine and smiles. It was like a sweet potato pie, but in a way I have never had it. There is an addictive chemical in it that makes you crave it fortnightly.
No words for this slice of heaven. No words. Drive out to Rowlett, the drive is nice over the lake, just don’t try to eat one of these while driving on the bridge over Lake Ray Hubbard, you will seriously loose control of your car. Thank me later.
