We used to go there like once every two weeks or so. Liked there pat-see-eel and bbq chicken. Too bad they already closed? At first we thought they were remodeling, but it’s been so long so I guess it’s permanently closed. =(

Came here for lunch and no one was here! No one was in the front to greet you or seat you. Even tho the said said please wait to be seated we seated ourselves after standing in the door way for 5 mins. We made sure the servers saw us waiting and they still didn’t come by, so we sat at the booth(I was on a time limit due to my work lunch break). The lady came by took our orders off a iphone or some device. We got the continental fried rice and some noodle soup(I forgot). It was pretty basic. I personally like the banana bay’s lunch specials more. I thought they would offer the same things, but they don’t. However I like the soup more at coconut bay because they use less salt or msg.

The only reason why I come here is because my fraternity chooses Coconut Bay to host our bigger events here because it fits 40+ people in the corner by the pool tables. I think this is a great place for bigger parties and it’s fun because it has a bar and pool tables but as for food, it’s mediocre. Located in the same plaza as Boiling Crab and Kingswood Fusion. Parking is probably the biggest turn off here; it’s such a hassle to fight for parking! The restaurant itself is huge. There is lots of tables for smaller parties, a huge room for larger parties, pool tables, and bar area. The décor is standard and nothing impressive. They have huge TV’s so you can catch the game. Every time I’ve been here, the service has been good, fast and friendly. As for the Thai food, I’m not an expert on your standard Pad Thai or anything but that’s the usual dish I order whenever I grab Thai food so I can say I know the difference between a good dish and a bad one. Coconut Bay’s Pad Thai is your standard dish. It’s not impressive but if you are craving it, I guess it does satisfy the craving. Although, for the price you’d think you’d get more food. I’d only come here to support my fraternity but not so much for the food.

This place is great. I have been to the two competing restaurants, Banana Bay and Coconut Bay and I must say that Coconut Bay is my favorite because of the following reasons: Atmosphere: It is true that Banana Bay has a much better club, nightlife, trendy venue but when I want to go to a restaurant, I want to hear the people I came with. Also, the staff was friendlier and accommodating. Food: The food is so much better here. We had the pad-see-ew and it was DELICIOUS. Everything you want in a noodle dish. Also, the Thai ice tea has free refills! Holy mother of God, yes! Parking: the parking situation at Banana Bay is much like Black Friday every night after 7. At this restaurant it is much more accessible and it’s also right next to the freeway. Although it is a trendy Thai place it does really hold up to authentic thai restaurants and has a bit of fusion to offer. I highly recommend it! Support your local businesses! Eat up!

Disgusting. …ewwwwww. I ordered thai beef salad and this long caterpillar creature is in my salad… All plump! scared the hell out of me. Never ever going back. I showed it to the waitress and she was saying the cook didn’t cook the meat correctly!!! WHAT??? Check out the photo I posted of this creature.

Coconut bay, i’m sorry. Your quality has gone down the tube. The pros are that you are cheap and have a decent bar. when I come here, my food always gets messed up. It tastes like leftovers that have been reheated. when i ordered your chicken wings, i taste your freezer. your management is useless, they dont do anything. service is terrible, last time we sat for 30 mins without anyone coming to us. SAVE yourself the hassle and not come here.

We drove almost an hour to Banana Bay to find that ITWASCLOSED! The sign at the door said they were under maintenance but we heard loud music like there was a fiesta going on inside??? Anyway, decided to drop by here instead. We weren’t disappointed at all. Should’ve just opted for this spot in the first place. Servers were nice and friendly. Great happy hour specials too. Food wasn’t amazing but not bad overall. We’d definitely be back if we happen to be in the area.

Hey, listen! This place is NOT just another Banana Bay(which is NAST)! Their food is actually quite different. I recommend going with the lunch specials or the dishes highlighted in green. I had my reservations about coming here, but I had a change of heart after trying it. Free refills on the common cool Thai drinks(iced tea, iced coffee, etc.) Woot! And they DONT water it down, unlike many other places. However, imo, you need to drink at least 2 glasses to make the $/glass a good deal. Highlights: –Noodles with Crispy Chicken — deep fried, crunchy chicken smothered in tangy sauce on a bed of flat rice noodles with fried basil and peppers. Surprisingly savory and very satisfying. –Ample parking in the lot, and seating inside. –Big flat screens everywhere –Clean –Yummy thai iced tea! Lunch specials are generously portioned and affordable! Cons: –SLOWSERVICE. Disclaimer: I tend to go with big groups, but I know to never come here when I need to be somewhere else within a couple hours of arriving. –Some beef stirfry dish. My friend hated it. Sucks for him. I loved my noodle with crispy chicken. Learn from his mistake. –Traffic around the plaza, but that’s not their fault

if you love thai tea, you NEED to come here. aycd thai iced tea. AYCD!!! SODRINKUP! they do water it down, but i still get my fix! i drank two cups of it even before i got my food. i had about 4 cups oops. maybe refills are not good for me. to get to this restaurant can be a bit difficult with all the construction that is surrounding this restaurant, but once you get through the craziness, parking lot is not so bad. i went before the dinner rush, around 5, so the restaurant was not packed at all. they were preparing for their dinner rush though. i got my usual thai dish — pad see ew with shrimp. got a good amount of shrimp in my dish. it was good for the most part. nothing too bad, nothing too good. just average. pad woon sen — for those who dont know this dish, they use thin glass noodles with red bell pepper, broccoli, carrots and other vegetables. i also got this with shrimp and it was good. but nothing spectacular. definitely come here for the free refill thai tea, not for the food!

I’ve only eaten here a few times and every time I come back the food always tastes amazing! If you’re looking for some seriously amazing Thai food, you must stop by at this place. There’s a section for billiards, a full bar and a cuisine of thai food and UNLIMITED Thai Iced Tea, Thai Iced Coffee etc. Seriously — FREEREFILLS on your Thai Iced Tea! What? Other places will charge you each time you get these drinks. This is an amazing deal! My favorite is the Continental Fried Rice! The chicken is so tender and the rice very very flavorful! Sometimes you just not want to think if there’s MSG in the food cuz it’s so good! LOL. The prices on the food is pretty cheap too! For less than $ 10, you get a huge portion of noodles, rice and everything! I’m a calamari lover and this place deserves 5 stars on their tender calamari! Sometimes you get the gamey, tough calamari but here, you get the tenderness with every bite! The vibe in the place is really chill and the service is on point! Unilke Banana Bay, there are servers here who will pay attention to you.

Sometimes you just gotta go with the basics and you may find yourself pleasantly surprised… THAIBEEFSALAD Just a great blend of lettuce, beef, tomatoes, onions, peppers and cilantro with a great spicy yet sour thai dressing. Considering this was a gawdamn salad… it was really good for some reason. PADSEEEWE The wife gave it her seal of approval. GARLICPEPPERSHRIMP Perfectly cooked shrimp with just the right balance of garlic and pepper. I am a bit of a garlic fiend… so this was great. NICEURINALSTAGGER What?! That’s a «thing» right?! Fawk I got problems.

Not anywhere as good as banana bay. The only positive to this place is the unlimited refills on thai iced tea and coffee. The continental fried rice is smaller. The house special noodle is bland. The crying tiger is chewy and lacking in the flavor department. Banana bay has the better food!

I came here on a Monday night with a group of 8 for dinner. The place was pretty empty. Maybe there were five other tables there. For some reason, the food came out SUPER slow. Well, for some people. Half of our table had already finished their food before the other half got their orders. Given that there were only 5 other tables there, it seemed pretty unreasonable. When we asked the waitress about our food, they didn’t really give us an answer. FOOD: I don’t really have any complaints over the food because it is just your typical thai food place. I got the pad thai and it was decent. We also shared a thai fried rice and that was decent. My friends got the Tom Yum Noodles and they said it was pretty decent. It is just very average and the food was not very memorable. DRINKS: We waited until 9 so we can take advantage of the happy hour prices. The prices are okay but the drinks kinda suck. The hello kitty I got was really strong, which may be good, but not as good as ones at Banana Bay. My friends said the other drinks were only okay as well. I also had the stop light shots and they were really gross. You can smell the cheap alcohol in them. Yuck. PARKING: There are parking spots usually in front of the restaurant. It is a pretty big lot so parking usually is not a problem. PRICE: Prices are around $ 8 – 10 per dish. The drinks for happy hour are 2 for $ 9, which is a good price but not for the quality of alcohol they put in it. Sorry but I prefer Banana Bay over this place any day.

Not a bad choice for some decent Thai food, but it’s not great. It also started going downhill when they added beer pong tournaments, poker tournaments, and a club to promote the restaurant. FOOD: I’ve tried a good amount of their menu and I haven’t tasted a really bad dish. They also come in fairly large portions. Common dishes like Pad Thai and Pad See Ew have only been«okay», nothing special. Some highlights: Tom Kha Gai is always on point, King Noodle is very good, and the Salted Fish Fried Rice is addicting! They have a bunch of drink specials but they aren’t very good… I can’t tell if they’re super strong or if the alcohol is super cheap. might as well stick to beer. AMBIANCE: Large restaurant space, bar area and pool tables. It could get really busy on the weekends but usually not a long wait. A pretty lively spot that like to promote big games for Lakers and Clippers. very fun when the Lakers are in the playoffs with several projector screens playing the games. They also have live music sometimes. The bar area can get really full and loud during the weekends. one time we came in and they turned the center area of the restaurant into a dance floor. really weird when you’re trying to enjoy a nice meal. SERVICE: Not too bad. every server working is pretty much your server, you just have to flag them down when you need something. Food comes pretty fast even when it’s busy. TIPS: Free refills on Thai Iced Tea and Thai Iced Coffee. First one is usually good then the following refills are served from a pitcher. $ 20 minimum charge for cards.

I go here because they constantly have living social deals which make it super cheap to eat! They also have refillable Thai tea which is rare in the Thai world. It doesn’t taste as good as other places but it’ll do. I love their kings fried rice because it comes with hot dogs! I don’t even really eat the chicken but it’s a large fried piece with sweet and sour dipping sauce. The service can be off and slow. they put in the orders electronically yet the food never comes out altogether. the kitchen needs to get their act together! It’s an okay place to go if you’re in the mood for Thai.

Happy hour during games, early happy hour until 7pm and late night happy hour 10pm — close. Parking can be a real b**** Friday — Sunday nights in this plaza. Not to mention most of the spots are compact and well you know how some people park… Chicken Satay($ 8.95): Too pricey for what it was. 5 chicken skewers with a side of peanut sauce and pickled veggies. The flavor was all there but the chicken was a little bit dry. Pad Kee Mao($ 8.95): Love the sweetness and color of the pepper with the spiciness of this dish! You can pick from beef, chicken or pork with the noodles. I opted for beef since both our other dishes had chicken in it. Chicken Tom Kai($ 10.95): Mmm the soup had a kick to it! I would recommend this soup if you like coconut. I usually hate lemongrass but it was just the right amount, not too powerful. Filled with mushrooms, tomatoes and chicken! Decent location. The meal with tax + tip was around $ 37 for 2 people. Service was 4⁄5 stars which is a lot better than the usual service! Not sure how packed this place gets anymore on weekends but I came on a Friday evening around 7pm and we were seated right away.

Parking inside this area was horrible for dinner, even though there is a dedicated lot. Because of all of the popular restaurants also in the area(damn you, Boiling Crab!), we were forced to park across the street in the 99 Ranch lot. We were seated pretty much right away. Minimum on credit/debit is $ 20…boo! * Chicken Curry($ 8.95): Huuuge portions! The amount of spiciness was good, but otherwise pretty average tasting. ~ 3⁄5 * Satay($ 7.95): They call it an appetizer, but you can totally eat it on its own, because it comes with a side of sticky rice along with a lot of satay sticks and spicy peanut sauce. ~ 3.5÷5 * Thai Iced Tea($ 2.89): Unlimited refills, but is it possible to have a thai iced tea that tastes super watery and too sugary at the same time? Coconut Bay nailed it. Drinking one and a half cups of this made me feel like throwing up… so don’t be swayed by the unlimited refills… ~ 1⁄5 Service was pretty bad, our server was nowhere to be seen for most of the time and someone totally different gave us refills, and we had to flag down a different server to get to-go boxes. I made eye contact with her after we had our to-go boxes ready and thought that she would come back with the check, but she left and we didn’t see her for a while. We decided to see how long we could go without getting the check, but after our table had been cleared we gave up and flagged her down, and she acted oblivious. Well, it probably wasn’t an act, since we barely saw her during our meal anyway. No thanks! I’d rather go elsewhere for my Thai fix. Food: 3, Service: 2, Ambiance: 3, Price: 3

Not gonna lie, I mainly come here for NBA games, Lakers basketball specifically. They have so many TVs here, and the lakershow is ALWAYSON. And that’s all that matters. The food is pretty good here too! All the fried rice, the mint leaf/basil chicken dishes, on point. They got a full bar with craft beers. Service is excellent after you get seated. Not sure why, but Coconut Bay does feel a bit more upscale than most Thai restaurants. Maybe it’s the service. Lakeshow, good food, good value, and good service, can’t go wrong. Notice I said good, not great. It’s a 3 star restaurant at best, extra star for the accommodations. But Will still continue to be a regular here.
