Mala soup is superb, especially the mala tofu! I always order extra to takeaway. Prime rib beef is delicious and tender. Always go to have Hotpot at least twice a week. Boss is very nice and generous.

DIY hot pot in which you order your ingredients from a list. The prices are a bit ridiculous for the ingredients itself and the quality of it. Majority of the ingredients were frozen and not fresh. The service is mediocre. I liked the sauce station except I would have preferred if the boss lady wouldn’t look at my every move making the sauces. I would not come back here but to cheaper hot pot places where you can get your own individual hot pots.

This place is like any Chinese restaurant you ever been, so do not expect it would be clean. I love love love hot pot, and Ah Lien has a very unique favor broth and the pork is tender and juicy there. I almost go there every week, it may show how good is this place.

I will give 4 stars for the food, and give negative stars if I could for their appalling service. They were EXTREMELY unprofessional. I would rather take my business elsewhere.

First off, it is typical for me to come into a Chinese restaurant expecting less than average service. This place was no different, and I was glad that I did not expect service out of them. Came in right before closing time per a friend’s recommendation, and quickly ordered as we didn’t want to be the last ones there. Love the sauce bar on the side where you pick and choose whatever sauce and toppings you want to add; there’s so many choices! There is an option for half original and half spicy pot or just one flavor. We got the half and half as well as angus beef and several sides. The food came out almost immediately which was nice. The beef and the sides were yummy! The beef were sliced pieces of actual rib eye steak which is pretty awesome– so although you don’t get too many slices, the slices are nice and large. This restaurant is definitely an above average Chinese hot pot place. The spicy soup broth was pretty good and not as oily as other places, and the original was not bad as well. Definitely not as of as hot pot hot pot soup, but a great substitute if you don’t want to drive far! We had a great dinner here, and this place definitely satisfied our hotpot craving. Love how it’s so close to me as it is definitely a better option than world hotpot and other locations nearby!

Not really impressed. The service is good. The choices aren’t that various though. I will put 3 and half stars.

So for hot pot, it’s pretty standard. This place has all the fixings and all the frozen stuff you need for Taiwanese hot pot. They also have the sauces that you can keep refilling yourself. The atmosphere is not very clean, the service is not great and the hardware is very old. With that said, I would come back if I absolutely ‘needed’ to eat Taiwanese hot pot badly but would not make a special trip either.

The owner here often works by herself; a really nice lady too! We were the first ones here around 5:30pm on a weekday, but it got busy really quickly around dinner time. The ingredients for the hot pots are of good quality, and sometimes we just get the broth to go to have hot pot at home.

This is my new go to hotpot place if I’m ever in the area. The meat was extremely fresh and the soup base was one of the best that I’ve had. The only letdown was the fact that our mushroom platter was sent to another table. When we got it all sorted out, we noticed that the mushrooms have not been cleaned properly and had a bunch of dirt on there.(–1 star for this)

Tried this place for dinner last Thursday night and was left with a fairly sick feeling. We tried the ‘half and half” which is a simple broth and a spicy broth. The spicy side is serious business. My friends were all sweating bullets trying to eat that one, it was way spicier than typically expected when you choose the spicy option. Maybe it just depends who prepares it that day? It was also too salty to enjoy sipping. The simple broth may as well have been water. Even after boiling a bunch of different veggies and meats in there, I felt the flavor was completely lacking. I will give them a plus though, their meats were all pretty good, if not better than most of the hot pot places I’ve been. Good sized portion of it was served for the price. I think it was just under $ 6 for a fairly large plate of beef slices. They had a multitude of sauces, but none of them stood out to me. There was a peanut sauce that lacked any depth of flavor. and frankly, didn’t even taste like peanuts. It was slick and I’m pretty sure that’s what left me with the nauseated feeling. The sesame sauce was the same. Greasy and flavorless. I ended up jut dipping everything in soy sauce because everything else was intolerable. Maybe it was the MSG? TL;DR: I wouldn’t recommend this place as I’ve had better, but the price is right for what you get.

Foods is fresh than other places that I had been. Only thing a bit pricy. I went there with a gf n easily spent $ 80. We got half spicy n non spicy. Spicy broth is okay not much of flavors except spicy n come with hard tofu. Non spicy actually have better flavors broth n come with Napa, tofu, cabbage n other veggies. Make sure the waitress asked if u want in broth or not. Some dishes u could order half with half price.

I’ve never been here, but have heard of it for quite some time now as being an optimal hot pot spot. I came here a few nights ago, and while the food and service was good, I felt the ma la spicy hot pot was a little too spicy. Maybe it’s because I’ve weaned off hardcore spicy stuff for some time now, because the stuff was like HOTFIRE. I’m surprised my stomach did not fight with me the following day. The good thing about the spicy hot here though, is that it is legit ma la(«numb spicy.») Your lips will truly feel numb from the extreme spice. The plaza is hidden behind its forefront plazas on Colima Road and the parking is somewhat limited, especially during peak dining hours. I will be back, but just won’t order something that spicy next time.

My friend told me their hot pot is good, so I decide to abandon my favorite hot pot place for one time n give this place a try. First, I like the spicy pot. The tofu & soup base r very good. I luv their soup base tofu! Second, the clear soup base is a little weird to me. It seems there’s sour cabbage in there already, but not enough amount, so the soup is bland… and sour. Besides, one piece of the king oyster mushroom has mold on it. Third, the price is way too high for the portion they gave us. My bf & I spent $ 87 b4 tips to walk out the door :(We were shocked when we got the bill. I will only go back when I really miss their tofu n spicy pot only. Without the tofu, I probably give them 2 stars only.

I personally enjoy the hot pot here, as the soup base is the closest to the ones i had in Taiwan. The spicy soup is not overly spicy to the point where it’s unbearable, and combining with all the herbal ingredients, creates an appetizing fragrance and mixed after taste besides just plain spicy. Helpful tip, i strongly recommend getting a half half pot if you are a soup lover. The mah-lah soup is just way too oily and salty to drink directly and not to mention the burning sensation you going to experience the next day. The ingredient portions are very generous, ordering 5 – 6 sides will probably be sufficient for two people. The sauces are on the side, you can basically mix and match to create the most satisfying sauce of your dream, i love DIY. Unfortunately, the tofu from the soup itself is not marinated enough. The flavor doesn’t sink into the tofu, so after the first bite, you pretty much eating plain tofu from the pot. The service is so so, because they are just too busy with all the hungry eaters and i had to call them twice for soup refill this time around. The restaurant is not that big, and seriously the waiting area(like they have one) is too small for all the hungry people coming in. They literally stare at you, and that’s when you know you should start eating and less chatting haha.

Best Taiwanese Hotpot in the SGV. I’ve eaten at plenty of places so please trust me on the one. High quality meat? Check. Good service? Check. Inexpensive price? Check. Generous portions? Check. Excellent sauce bar? Check. Huge selection of goodies? Check. What more can you ask for? We were stuffed and brought home enough for a second meal and the total cost came out to be less than what we would’ve spent at any other a la carte hotpot place. Actually, it came out cheaper than AYCE places as well but the quality was so much better.

I don’t know what all the hype is about. This place looks like a family’s kitchen, what with the pots all over the place and the servers chatting up a storm on the side. Their soup base didn’t taste at all savory or spicy, and from what I know, this place is supposed to have SPICY hot pot. The sauces are all available on the side, but everything just seems so casual that I feel like it’s not much different from me eating hot pot at home. I’m not sure whether this place is supposed to be Taiwanese or Chinese, but it tastes like neither to me.

A hidden gem in this small plaza, a good place for spicy cravings, lots of comfort food and beer of course! I am not sure if they have menu in English, or if the servers speak American at all? You need to be able to read some traditional Chinese to order here, I can only read most simplified Chinese, so I had to ask hubby to be sure I order the right things. ;p We had half spicy half regular soup base, it’s very yummy with some veggies in there, very flavored. They have pretty much everything on the menu, beef, pork, lamb, chicken, seafood, fish balls, lots of veggies, mushrooms, many kinds of noodles, n some small side dishes. So many to choose from, we ordered premium beef, fish slices, squid, fish slices, quail eggs, 2 kinds of veggies, n green onion pan cake. Portions were so big! The food was more than enough for 2 people. We had 2 large Taiwan beers to go with our food. Everything was so delicious. :) They have green onions and Taiwanese satay sauce on the table. There is a sauce station in the front, I see sesame, peanut butter, mustard, spicy paste, garlic paste, I like it a lot cause I can mix my own sauce there. It’s fun :) The service was very good, friendly and attentive, this place is small, so it’s very easy to get a server notice you, just wave at them. ;p $ 54 with 2 large beers n lots of food. We enjoyed our spicy hot pot so much, will go back soon. :)
