I’ve passed this place for years and years and never stopped by, so today I decided to go on a whim. They have two drive thru lines, which I suppose makes up for their lack of dining room and«for here» option. Their menu is simple to decipher and boasts your typical fast food fare, but at slightly cheaper prices for combo meals so I was worried I would be paying for tiny portions. I ended up paying about $ 6 for the quarter-pounder combo with fries and a Coke. The burger reminds me of the sonic type but just a little bit better. It was warm and had a great ratio of veggies, condiments, and meat, not messy at all. The French fries were crispy and delicious! It was also a sizeable amount, more than I thought would be included. The drink was about a medium size and was fine, no surprises there. The service was wonderful and the staff were all smiles, asking if I needed any extra ketchup or napkins. I will definitely be returning!

This place has a crew of employees which can handle the overwhelming rush at lunch from the high school across the street. This translates to an ability to crank out excellent fried basic hamburgers. That core group of employees can also turn out perfect french fries. We are also big fans of their fried chicken fingers and on Friday their fried catfish. there is no indoor seating at all. If you’re looking for a thin basic hamburger then you can’t go wrong with these fried patties

Love, love, LOVE this place! Great greasy burgers, great fries! For a family of four we normally pay around $ 20. I’m not a fan of Wendy’s fries so if you like that store you won’t find that here!

If you want a plain simple burger then here is the stop for you. I would describe everything here as ok. The burger, the fries and the customer service is all ok.

Love the food, hate the customer service… today was yet another reminder of that… be back when I wanna be treated like a bother instead of a paying customer…

I will forever be a loyal Short-Stop customer! Its simple, its fast and its real food! You could go to Mickey D’s or Booger king and get your burger fix, but are you sure that brown toasted square in the middle of those two buns they give you is even real meat? Oh and don’t get me started on the cheese, just what do you have to do to cheese to make it neon yellow?!? Thanks corporate fast food but no thanks! And you could also go to a hip trendy burger joint like p. terry’s or this nonsense called in-n-out! Now I am sure that all of these places are Mighty fine but don’t be surprised to find out that trendy has a price, longer wait times and rushed service. Not for me though I will stay tried and true. Short-stop is an austin classic in what is now becoming the trendy burger scene, and all for under 5 bucks!

Good burgers, great service, fast food! The gentleman that took our order did a great job getting it all down(no pickles, no lettuce, no mayo, I want mustard on that, etc.) no errors on our order what so ever! They have a good variety of food too. Burgers, chicken, and even fish during lent. It is a drive thru only. They have 1 picnic table in front, that’s it.

I was having another lazy evening as we prepare to move and considered the usual Whataburger to then realize I’d never tried short stop or their burgers. It’s another moment of fast food coming to a lazy American’s life. I’ll be happy when we’re moved, less stressed with more home made food on the stove. Short stop is meh. Nothing about the burger or fry stood out, seemed to be a standard burger and fry. Whataburger is consistently solid for fast food. Short stop suffers from the same issue that Little Red Wagon hamburgers do, what stands out? When you have so many options it’s hard to distinguish yourself.

Where do I begin? We came to this place, made our order. The waitress would repeat it back completely wrong. We repeat the order with everything we don’t want on it.(a bacon cheeseburger with no onions no tomato) easy enough right? So she repeats it back with everything she plans to put on it.. .(in reverse) We get the order and because of her responses we already know we are going to have to review the order because when you order anything with No onions that usually means they will put EXTRA. that’s just the law of the land. . Guess what, yes no onions, but also no bacon and they gave me 2 patties.. ? wth Sot he manager gets it back and my bf is already pissed because he anticipates my getting pissed which I wasn’t but I just want my order correct, spit or not on it. The manager was mostly polite about it and corrected it(even though it had 2 patties instead of one) and guess what? the bacon was chewy not crunchy. .eww. all that for nothing. ah well. but the mgr did give us 2 freeapple pies for the inconvenience which I appreciate. . my waist not so much. . I forgot how good Short stop was. I hadn’t had it in years since it was operating in San Angelo on Sherwood Way. Goodness. I’d order this again. after I loose a few lbs in preparation for that meal. .

Not a Bad Burger for the place on the corner. I love burgers, and I’m always looking for a great balance between cost and good food, and I think Short Stop provides that. The burger was simply the #1, I had it with everything, and it was a nice burger. The meat had a good flavor, and the vegetables were perfect quantity. Fries were just OK, nothing fancy. The price was just right $ 4 with a drink and fries.

I enjoy the simplicity of a good, fast, convenient hamburger. Short stop has many things to choose from, but the best thing is that they live up to their name. Each time I have stopped, the burgers have been served fast, the veggies fresh, and the taste of the meat always has something that you learn to miss… the patties always have a great cooked crust on the edge, just like you would make at home. I bring the attention to the crust because it shows that they actually cook the patties. They are not heated in a salamander faux flame broil, they are not precooked onto a flat top, and they are not steamed like a gimmick. Overall, they are simple hamburgers made to order and always taste great while matching the great prices. There are many things on the menu, but I always tend to order the simplicity of the hamburgers.

I’d driven by this little shack on the ride home so many times and never stopped, so I figured it was time to take the plunge. Kinda glad I did. The food wasn’t bad for a burger joint. They overdid it with the toppings, but I’d stop again due to my affinity for local spots vs chains. I’d compare it to a homemade Wendy’s burger. Not an in depth review, but it met expectations so there isn’t a lot more to write.
